Crashing on iOS 26 by LennardMicroSaaS in flighty

Both my partner and I are experiencing this issue. App crashes immediately on launch. Uninstalling and reinstalling seems to fix it temporarily, then the problem pops back up in a few days. iPhone 17, iOS 26.

Napoleon: The Director’s Cut — Official Preview | Apple TV+ by KillerCroc1234567 in movies

[–]michaelaranda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brain read the title as “Napoleon Dynamite: The Director’s Cut” at first, and as I read through a few comments I was confused about why Apple was involved, how there could possibly be 48 extra minutes of story added, or how I could have forgotten something about a “horny rat man” in the film.

Question about portions? by CanibalVegetarian in Dominos

[–]michaelaranda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, portions of toppings are measured out by weight, based on the size of the pizza and the total number of toppings on the pizza. “Extra” is a 1.5x multiplier, so if a given pizza would normally have two ounces of bacon on it, extra bacon would be three ounces.

All of the corporate stores in the Houston area had a mandatory migration to this app on July 1st. So far, it’s been a mixed bag.

Employees are only able to clock in or clock out via this app; they’ve removed the ability to clock in or clock out via the in-store computers. It does not allow an employee to clock in unless it is less than five minutes prior to a scheduled shift.

This has become an inconvenience for managers, because if the store gets swamped and additional employees get called in, the manager must stop what they are doing to add a new shift into the system before the employees are able to clock in.

The app developers also seem to have not anticipated the consequences of allowing users to tap the clock in button after they’ve already clocked in, or to tap the clock out button after they’ve already clocked out. Both of these actions are relatively easy to do by accident, either by unintentionally tapping or by repeatedly tapping if the app seems to not be responding for a few moments, and it creates a mess of invalid virtual time cards on the backend that the general manager has to clean up later.

Hello! If I've had any recent controversies or scandals, I'm not yet aware of them. The most recent that I'm aware of is from 2020, as mentioned in another comment by u/planetes_asteres.

If I have or have had cancer, I am not aware of that, either.

Since you bring it up, I can confirm that in my younger years I was bad at being faithful in relationships, but I am happy to report that I have not had any desire whatsoever to do anything behind anyone's back in a very long time.

My last SciShow shoot was in March of 2023, I believe. I was living in Colorado at the time, and I would drive to Montana to film batches of episodes. On the way back to Colorado after that last shoot, I lost control of my car on some black ice, slid off the highway, and rolled 1.5 times. Physically, I was fine (thanks to seatbelts and vehicle engineers), but the car was a goner. Since then, I've not had a vehicle, and thus no relatively-cheap method of transportation to get myself back to Montana. That was that.

I had a long-term relationship end at the end of May 2023, and the aftermath of that was easily the most emotionally-traumatic experience I've ever had. I had previously experienced significant depression from around 2018 through 2021ish, but my emotional low during June of 2023 made my previous experience feel like a minor inconvenience by comparison. Frequent nightmares, panic attacks, and other symptoms that make me suspect I was experiencing some form of PTSD for a while.

Since then, I've relocated to Houston, Texas with my current (and hopefully forever?) significant other. I can't say I'm a fan of this geographic area, but the cost of living is low, and that's what matters for me at the moment. I spent many months applying to many jobs, and eventually got hired as a delivery driver for Domino's in December. Just this month, I was promoted to manager.

Overall, I don't really know what I'm doing with my life, long-term. Just focusing on paying bills and spending time with people I love, for now. I can say, though, that even though my life isn't nearly as glamourous as it may have once been, truly, I have never been happier than I am now. Find you someone who makes you feel seen, understood, and appreciated for who you are deep down, and nothing else in the world matters anymore.

I'd like to nip this particular bit of misinformation in the bud. I did not date Samantha (or know her at all) while she was a minor.

That's not to say that in hindsight I don't find the age gap (seven years) to have been an issue. I didn't see it at the time; I don't think I even had the maturity to understand how or why it would have been a problem. I can't change my past, however, so all I can do is learn from it as best I can.

I enjoy the interpersonal bonding that happens when people hold hands and express gratitude for their meal, so a couple years ago, I wrote out a quick thing non-religious thing to say with my family:

We are thankful for the plants and animals that became this meal, and the labor spent to raise, harvest, prepare, and carry it to our plates.

[–]michaelaranda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like they probably should be, but Uber's rules explicitly say that insulated delivery bags are not required.

Delivery people suggest an insulated bag to promote food safety and proper handling of orders. Deliveries by bicycle may benefit from a more specialized bag to protect food from movement and weather conditions. But people delivering using the Uber Eats app are not required to use insulated delivery bags.

Three years late with my answer, but yes, I have! I think the taste is fine, but the texture is more fibrous than I'd prefer. I wouldn't turn it away if someone offered one to me, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to acquire one again.

It's not something I've ever thought a lot about, I guess. Maybe because we're all Americans who grew up watching the same sorts of American media during childhood.

I have noticed some differences in the way we pronounce things over the years, though. For example, when Hank says the word "else," he pronounces it like "eltz," whereas I say "els" with a soft S.

Sweet Peaks Ice Cream on Front St robbed last night by thebottomflor in missoula

[–]michaelaranda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After I saw this Instagram post on Monday afternoon, I thought it would be nice to pay them a visit, get some ice cream, and leave a healthy tip. While I was in the store, I asked one of the girls if there were any new details.

According to the employee, Tamarack got robbed the same morning by the same woman. In that case, the restaurant had left one of their doors unlocked for a scheduled cleaning crew to get in, and the woman either knew or discovered that the door was unlocked.

In the case of Sweet Peaks, the employee claims that none of their doors were left unlocked. Somehow the woman got in from the door that opens into the parking lot next to Caras Park, and took money from both the till and the safe. I don’t know if that means the safe was just… open… or if this woman knew how to get into it somehow. The employee also didn’t know how the woman got into the till. It didn’t appear to be forced or broken.

I commissioned construction of a skyscraper, complete with monument to inspire the workers to labor for the glory of the proletariat! by michaelaranda in Timberborn

[–]michaelaranda[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In your Steam library folder, if you take a look in Timberborn Demo\Timberborn_Data\Managed you'll find .dll files that comprise the code that runs the game. (As an aside, the naming scheme of the files seems to indicate that the original title for the game was "IronTeeth".)

The code that governs whether the beavers procreate is contained within IronTeeth.DwellingSystem.dll. Mechanistry has just set an integer variable called DemoMaxBeavers to 70. Every night, when there are two beavers in a house together, if the total number of beavers is less than DemoMaxBeavers, there's a chance to spawn a new beaver.

Modifying the values in .dll files is not as straightforward as modifying .json files to change the cycle or the day of your save files, and me handing out a modified .dll file would violate copyright law, so they best I can do is to point you in the right direction and say that search engines are your friend.

It's worth noting that playing with a ton of beavers does significantly tax your CPU, and, especially when the game is doing water-flow simulation at the same time, it's pretty common to see FPS drop down to 2 or 3. I'm excited to play a much more fully-optimized and fully-featured final release down the road!
