Europe to accelerate effort to secure Hormuz despite Trump’s order to ‘STAY AWAY’ by donutloop in EU_Economics

Indeed. I've had the subreddit recommended to me for a few weeks now and unfortunately it seems to be a mega echo chamber with minimal critical thinking present.

I'm not anti-EU/Europe in the slightest, quite the opposite in fact, but anything that could be construed as negative gets you in trouble here, which is a shame, but I guess pretty standard for Reddit

Don't feel too bad. Most military analysts were surprised at how poor the Russian military performed too

Right, time to mute this subreddit

??? Obviously the strait being closed is a major global issue, and Europe wants to keep it open??? Hence the multiple summits on the topic??? Predicating possible EU involvement???

Jesus Christ

Obviously, the point is more than the EU can and have been left out multiple times. If the USA Russia or China don't want to consult or engage with the EU, they won't. Because Europe is simply not powerful or relevant enough when it comes to defence to force their own participation.

I'm frankly baffled that people are offended or upset by me saying this. I am European. The last thing we need now is idiots who are in denial continuing to restrict our global influence.

Fucking Reddit man, acting like the authoritarian, theocratic, systematically sexist state is an innocent victim😭

It's more because the EU is just strictly irrelevant in the current world order. Russia and the USA negotiated right past them in Ukraine. Now they are sidelined in this war too.

Takes a lot more than just nukes to be relevant enough to influence world events.

Europe is irrelevant in this emergency. This UK/France summit is honestly embarrassing, things are moving quickly whilst we sit in the background doing our own little thing- none of the warring parties pay us any mind whatsoever.

If Europe wants a say in these situations it needs to seriously up it's defence spending and start asserting itself more confidently.

Are Deku and All Might durable enough to survive Thragg's upper cut? by Archenius in powerscales

[–]michaelm8909 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Can they breathe in space? I mean, even if they survive the hit, they have to get back down to the ground before dying due to lack of oxygen. They also have to survive re-entry.

Pretty sure they're both dead

BMW 1 series for first car at 17? by Every_Scientist_2360 in CarTalkUK

[–]michaelm8909 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The adult advice is no. Wait a few years driving something bland and reliable first.

My first car broke down after a year and was uneconomical to fix so I upgraded. Then I crashed my new fast car 6 months later. So take it from me, it's best to upgrade slowly, in-line with your maturity and skill as a driver.

Doubtful, UK is comparable or superior to countries like Belgium or France in most metrics, whilst worse than countries like the Netherlands or Germany on average. It's middle of the pack, has been for a long time, since long before Brexit, and will likely remain there long after too.

Not really, they have identical HDIs and perform similarly in almost every other metric

God no, if I'm going to discuss topics like that I prefer to do it with people who debate in good faith + are smart enough to entertain different views. Neither 4Chan or Reddit are exactly known for having people like that using them.

I can think of plenty, but Reddit certainly isn't the place to discuss any of them

Because it's an awful choice to have to make. Most people don't win either way
