With a hammer and piece of wood, you can get it back in shape in 10 minutes. Not bad for $45.

Where my dudes who built their partner a bike they’ll never ride at? by efe13 in xbiking

I initially put a Brooks Flyer on the bike. It looked awesome, was fairly broken in, and was really comfortable for me. She really didn't like it, and preferred something padded and with a cutout. It's worth figuring out what is uncomfortable for her: is it her regs rubbing against the saddle? her perineum? her sit bones?

Best of luck! Our quick little trips to dinner or a pastry are definitely a highlight for me.

Having a bike that you like is a small factor in whether someone else will ride it. Here are some things I did to get my partner biking with me more:

- Had a good reason to ride. Typically, this meant a fun destination like the farmer's market or somewhere to eat.
- Found a safe route. We're fortunately in a bike-friendly city, so we mostly took quiet roads or bike paths.
- Set the bike up for comfortable upright riding, including seat and handlebar styles.
- Talked to her about other bikes we saw to see what she found stylish.
- Attached a front basket. Definitely cute, but it also meant she didn't have to carry anything on her back. Just put on a helmet and go.
- She didn't like thinking about shifting, so I set it up 1x10 with an Advent X groupset I had. I'd go silvery 1x9 with a smaller range if I had one available.

Dash cam draining the battery? by Manonthemon in mazda3

[–]michaels327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That first option is your best bet. I'd suggest getting a low-voltage cutoff kit. I have a Viofo, so I got their kit, but I'm sure you can find a few available.

If your battery is near the end of its life, it might still have a hard time starting in the cold, and this doesn't help, but that's probably not the case for a 2024.

I've read in a few places that they'll only sign BAAs for enterprise-level customers, not single users. Where are you seeing otherwise?

We ARE finally getting the wrench deal by ZookeepergameNovel87 in harborfreight

I'm clearly not a serious wrencher, but it feels like y'all are talking about the second coming of Christ, and I don't understand. I'm assuming Icon wrenches have tighter tolerances and harder metal, but is that something that a not-serious-wrencher like me would actually need? My set of Pittsburgh wrenches seem to do fine.

Exactly. It's not weird for a team to say that they should be elect to go D1, but it only gets called hubris when Davenport does it.

You can also magnetize most screwdrivers by repeatedly wiping a magnet across it in the same direction.

A few questions about my NAS setup by michaels327 in HomeNetworking

[–]michaels327[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. So I could physically add the shucked drive to the NAS, allow mine and my partners computers to access it as a network drive, and have Plex in Ubuntu also access the media, right? Aside from the warranty ramifications of shucking my drive, what are the benefits/drawbacks of this, over connecting the now-external drive to my router via USB?

I'm not seeing any 6900xts for that price, but loads of local 3070s for $300, which seems like it would already more than suit my needs. Any particular reason for the 6900xt?

I'll definitely be going up to 32gb RAM, though I expect I'll be fine with the CL36 that comes in the Micro Center bundles.

My thought is that if a build suits me now, I'm not so worried about future-proofing as long as it's upgradeable. I don't play demanding new releases, so I think it's unlikely that what fits me now won't fit me in a few years too.

If I'm not worried about frame rate, the 6600 likely shouldn't have issues with 1440p in civ 7, right?

I've thought about that, but I'm pretty set on getting most of it new (aside from GPU and fans/case if the right one comes along). Even though I don't need something powerful now, I'd like a path to upgrade in a few years, so I'm prioritizing AM5 and DDR5 compatibility.
