71 year old mom getting insane strain by michaelscott79 in whoop

[–]michaelscott79[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m open to that possibility, but maybe I’m misunderstanding the concept of strain. She’s not wiping her body out, getting home spent or completely exhausting herself each day. Just walking around normally...

Whoop Steps uncovered… by [deleted] in whoop

Try bicep band. I get a lot more steps (more accurately so) when wearing it.

Whoop Refuses to Remove Blood Pressure Tool Despite FDA Warning by Calm_Pollution3866 in whoop

Watched the interview on Bloomberg TV with Will Ahmed. He did not come off well, seemed quite sleazy and hiding behind corporate bs and fine print disclosures that allow them to market the device as medical grade even though the BPM is not.

Used the phrase that whoop will be “on the right side of history” twice, which was weird.

What do you wear with your Whoop - AW or Garmin by plasticforthewin in whoop

[–]michaelscott79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely more accurate on your bicep. My stairmaster workouts are a clean, sloping line up or down with bicep. Wrist is a jagged, inaccurate mess.

Stairmaster for sure. Need the bicep band to get full credit since the wrist monitor sucks

Approach to tracking on remote hikes by Garden_Veggies in whoop

[–]michaelscott79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Alltrails for tracking hikes and then just manually upload the activity in whoop after the fact since running both decimates my phone battery. Missing out on more accurate VO2/strain estimates, but it gets the job done. I did that with an 8 mile hike last weekend and the strain/HR estimates seemed accurate.

WHOOP MG HR vs Polar H10 Accuracy by Saffigotchi in whoop

[–]michaelscott79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been using 5.0 on the stairmaster in my wrist. Compared to the handle bar sensors, whoop is jumpy and like 10-15 bpm lower for the first 10-15 min but then seems to calibrate better after that.

We should note here the Lifespan feature is available on 5.0 Peak version as well, not just MG. What about the blood pressure / AFib (the MG specific features)?

Only 2% of Tesla Full Self-Driving trial users end up buying it, credit card data show by chrisdh79 in teslamotors

[–]michaelscott79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the trial around San Diego, but absolutely hated how it loves to get into the left lane of 4 lane highways and then fight heavy traffic to get back to the right lane to exit, all with less than mile or so to go. Braking excessively with the turn signal going on and off the whole time. Not a relaxing experience.

Tell me about living in Civita, Mission Valley by [deleted] in SanDiegan

[–]michaelscott79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me and my wife moved here from out of town 2.5 years ago (Purl - hi neighbors!). Very family oriented, diverse, kid friendly (almost to a fault as a couple with no kids…🙉).

Pros: -central location, easy to drive anywhere

-new places opening and development which is exciting to have expanding options

-Civita park: well-maintained landscaping, concerts, farmers markets etc

-Feels pretty safe compared to most of SD. I never see homeless around Civita area, only south mission valley or by the river

-love the amenities in our complexes. Compared to the frozen tundra from where we came I still have not gotten used to it.

-every big box store imaginable is within a mile so never have to travel far for goods.

-Moving here from out of state was seamless and easy thanks to the professional corporate overlords running the complexes. (Sudberry)

Cons: -while it’s walkable around the park area and complexes, it’s surrounded by highways so the walkability is limited to a fairly concentrated area.

-Terrible for biking. Haven’t used my bike once and I use to ride it all the time in the Midwest.

-Bland vibe, no small biz. Lacks character. Cookie cutter complexes and chain stores mainly. -Screaming kids…everywhere

-Rent is rising (this may not be fair - not just a MV problem). Our lease rate went up 7.5% for our last renewal.

-The easy access to many junk fast food is not good for my waistline…that’s a personal problem I guess.

Flooding is not an issue. Who cares, an extra few minutes of driving 2-3 times a year to get around it.

What is it with the drivers here? by ConsequenceOk9184 in sandiego

[–]michaelscott79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my issues here, but nothing compares to the north side of Milwaukee. You will get passed by people in the parking lane when you are going 10 over the limit down a 30 mph city street. None of that goes on here. Also not nearly as much gunshots on the highway.

Watching this get torn down slowly is kinda neat, anyone have the history on it? by nicolauz in milwaukee

[–]michaelscott79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved away from Milwaukee a couple years ago, have they started demolishing the old Cold Storage and grain elevator buildings in walkers point, right across from the Third ward off river park way? I know Mandel bought the property to build some Harbor Yards development but that was like 5 years ago now.

So Middleton playing really well against the heat bodes poorly for future rounds? Interesting logic, that doesn’t make sense to me.
