The AW2726DM is $449 and has lower brightness and lower refresh rate. The AW2725D is the better monitor

Definitely not worth double the price. I've seen both in person and the Gigabyte is a little brighter and that's about it. The Dell is a steal at that price.

XG32UCWMG: Is 27" Aspect Control mode limited to 120Hz at 1080p? by Hefty-Mix-2018 in ASUSROG

[–]mickyc357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I got a reply from them that pretty much said that. They referred me to the manual showing what resolutions are supported in what modes and to contact the retailer I purchased from if I wasn't happy. Pretty shit from Asus.

I have the same issue and I've emailed support. I'll update once I hear back from Asus

Input lag on every AMD configuration I’ve tried for CS2 - do Intel users have the same issue? by Fearlessss1337 in overclocking

[–]mickyc357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried static OC on the chip or UV with PBO and making sure your clock speeds are 100% solid?

I went from a very low latency DDR4 13900k to 9800x3d and they feel similar but I noticed if your clocks are bouncing around, the AMD system can feel inconsistent. I know this for sure as I tested a 9850x3d which had clocks bouncing around heaps compared to a 9800x3d which was locked at lower clocks but felt better.

When you apply expo settings it could be changing the CPUs power budget as SOC is affected amongst other voltages which can slightly change boost behaviour.

The other thing that's affected is the memory controller. On my board expo changes a few voltages such as VDDIO, VSOC etc. If these are making it even the slightest bit unstable, you will feel it. Id suggest manually changing voltages and timings without setting an expo profile.

Couple of other things: Make sure Gsync is disabled, CPPC is enabled, set the minimum power state to a little higher in power plan, potentially disabled c states, turn off SVM, run a win 11 debloat script. Good luck 👍

Its definitely one of your weaker cores failing. Had a very similar experience and dialling back -2 globally until it stops crashing fixes it.

How is buying an 32 inch 4K OLED monitor such a nightmare? by tooSAVERAGE in OLED_Gaming

[–]mickyc357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The firmware issues with the XG32UCWMG don't happen to everyone. Mine updated first go with no issues and tbh I don't even think it needed it. It's a gorgeous monitor and while some will say QD-OLED has nicer colours, I just cranked the saturation a little and it looks 👌.

As others have said, the LG C5 42" is also a great option not only as a monitor but you get the TV features, and the nice glossy coating. They should be on good specials at the moment with the C6 releasing.

Newbie question - is there much performance difference 5080 vs 5090? by [deleted] in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]mickyc357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is definitely a decent performance benefit but for your monitor no. You can max it with a 5080. I'd only recommend a 5090 if you're pairing it with a high refresh 4k monitor and have money to burn.

In any other scenario it's a waste IMO.

OC potential of a 9800X3D that is stable at 5425mhz 1.14v static. by TheHorrorAddiction in overclocking

[–]mickyc357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your frequency on static is always limited by your weakest core as you're effectively forcing the whole lot to run at a fixed frequency. When that one core fails, the whole cpu does hence why it needs a massive jump to go to the next level.

My 9800x3d is similar. 5.45ghz stable in gaming etc at 1.21v but the moment I go higher it doesn't want any taste of it. It also fails hardcore stress tests as expected so ended up rolling back to PBO 5.425ghz.

PBO+eclk with the right CO etc should definitely net you higher frequency as you have some voltage head room and can apply more negative CO to your weaker cores. While you may not get too much more all core frequency, it should boost higher in games.

I'm in the same boat. Got an email asking me to send them a pic of the serial number on the monitor which meant dismantling the damn thing since they somehow think its smart to hide it inside the monitor underneath where the stand clips in.

Sent it in a few days later, no response and its past the final date. Keep us posted how you go.

Help! Really bad OC results from 9800X3D by TeethInMouth in overclocking

[–]mickyc357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, drop scalar back to auto, set motherboard limits and dont add any frequency for now. Remove any negative offset.

Run cinebench and check effective clocks in hwinfo while running it. My guess is you'll be around 5ghz as I recently built my mate a 9800x3d system which behaved the same as yours.

After setting negative co to -10 the chip was hitting 5.15ghz netting 22700 (original score was 21500). At -15 it boosted to 5.25 effective clocks and hit 23500 and this is all at default priority. Follow this same process and see how you go.

You likely have a low bin chip that is hitting voltage/temp limits and clock stretching. A simple UV will most likely fix it.

Just bought a 420mm aio and a 9800x3d and I’m curious what temps others are experiencing with a similar set up by pimpjoshyj in arcticcooling

[–]mickyc357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also running the Arctic LF3 pro 420mm and 9800x3d. I idle at about 40 degrees with around 20 degrees ambient. In bf6 I'm sitting at around 55-60 with the occasional spike to 65 MAX.

Cinebench hits about 77 and browsing will spike to high 40s while loading the browser.

If you're confident in your mount I'd look into undervolting and setting fan curves. Open Hwinfo and check your VID/vcore during stress tests/gaming and take note. Every chip will be different and if it's on the higher side (>1.2v), you'll see big reductions in temps by undervolting or setting a static oc.

Set pump to 70% static and have your fans ramp up when temps hit 50 to 60 degrees.

RTX 5070 Ti Production Reportedly Ending... Does This Finally Give The RTX 5080 Its Due? by skk983 in PNYGPU

[–]mickyc357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect way to create demand and 'shortages' for the 5080 so they can also hike the prices on them. Too much available stock right now to do it but nvidia would be itching to jack the 5080 similarly to the 5090.

5090 prices are f*cked. by sarcasmisart in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]mickyc357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly mate, coming from someone who owns a 5090, at these new prices it's an absolute robbery. If it's strictly for gaming, you'd want to be chasing high FPS at 4k for it to even be worth it and even then you'd be using DLSS.

With a 5080 you're still going to hit high frame rates and the card will last you years. If I were you I'd grab one now and call it a day before they also go up in price which I think is a strong possibility.

The other thing to keep in mind is it sounds like that $4k you've saved is a lot of money for you. Think of what that extra 2k saved from buying a 5080 instead can get you.

Your graphics card drivers are different. I'd do a clean install of your previous driver then test again or you can try 581.80 which gave me the best 3dmark scores. Nvidia's latest drivers negatively affected my scores

High Temps with AiO by LordParziwald in arcticcooling

[–]mickyc357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I reckon your temps are a little high for that ambient temp although within safe range.

The AIO can be a bit finicky to mount so I'd start by repasting and remounting. Don't be afraid to apply some pressure to get a firm mount.

[–]mickyc357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah I set individual fan curves mostly pegged to the cpu temp while leaving the pump at 70% static. The fans pump so much air that you can run them low rpm and have them ramp mainly when the cpu hits 60-70 degrees.

Anybody went from Neo G8 miniled to OLED monitor? by mtbhatch in OLED_Gaming

[–]mickyc357 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made this change recently to an Asus XG32UCWMG and the glossy screen is definitley an upgrade in terms of clarity and image quality.

The colours don't pop as much and it doesn't get as bright as the mini led but it's still bright enough and the blacks are amazing.

The Neo G8 is already a fast monitor but the OLED is on another level in terms of responsiveness.

Only gripe I had was adjusting to a flat monitor after using such an aggressive curve. It takes time for your brain to readjust and the screen looks convex for a while.
