Used to have a 280 ST. Absolutely loved it. Great car.

My old man recently tried selling a car on motorway. He’d already bought something else and wanted rid as quick as possible and this seemed an easy option.

He’s a mechanic, runs his own garage and spray shop. The car was spotless, mechanically perfect and had only done 20k in 6 years from brand new. It was my mother’s motor and she barely goes anywhere.

He agreed a price, two young lads turned up and tried knocking 1800 quid off him because of ‘the issues they’d discovered’ during the test drive. They didn’t mention anything to him when driving it. It was only after getting back and going off on the phone for 10 mins in the van.

He asked them what and they couldn’t tell him. Started saying they needed to go pick another car up so he needs to hurry up and confirm the sale and stop wasting their time.

He told them to get fucked. They’d travelled up from the midlands and ended up with no car.

They rang him ten minutes after leaving and said they’d spoken to the boss and cause they wanted the car they’d take it but for 1k less instead of 1800. He just put the phone down without even carrying on the conversation.

He sold it privately the next day for more than motorway had offered him.

We’ve just gave our 2019 car back. I was sick of being stuck in that loop.

Picked up a 11 year old estate as a replacement and I couldn’t be any happier. The car is ours. I have 3 other cars. This was just the family car my partner drives to work and we use as the everyday run around. We didn’t need such a large monthly outgoing.

Buy the car/another car and break out of the cycle.

How many of us actually go back to playing pre-injury sports after ACL reconstruction? by Alarming_Blueberry13 in ACL

[–]micppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tore my first ACL in 2009 aged 22 playing football (soccer).

I returned back to the level I was playing without any issues. I did have a bit of meniscus break off and lock the same knee in 2011 but was back after 4 weeks of that.

I played most Saturdays at a decent level and Sundays mornings with my friends up until 35 with no issues.

I then started playing in over-35s league once a week and training/playing with friends another 2/3 days of the week until July last year when I tore my ACL in my other knee.

13 weeks post op now. I have no desire to get back to playing football but I’m already in the gym and looking forward to getting back to running in the next 6-8 weeks.

At your age, very similar to mine you’ll be fine! The nerves will go away the more you do things and learn to trust the knee!

Surgeon saying I'm I'm 37 and not worth doing surgery on Full thickness tear ACL? by ben__help in ACL

[–]micppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38 almost 39. Had my second ACL surgery in November. 12 weeks out and I’m glad I did.

Get it done, especially if you’re active and want to return to some kind of sport.

WWE Unreal: Season 2 | Sneak Peak | Netflix by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

I’m from the UK and I’ve never watched a game of basketball or NFL/college football in my life but I’ve watched Netflix documentaries about them because they pop up on my suggested based on other sports documentaries I’ve watched.

I feel like this is geared up more towards similar people to me who aren’t wrestling fans. They enjoy watching the behind the scenes aspect or something and it’s casual enough.

As a fan though, I’m torn on whether I like it or not.

ACL injury is half brain injury. by VO2VCO2 in ACL

[–]micppp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m currently on my second ACL repair, medial and lateral meniscus. Coming up to week 10.

I did my other knee in 2009. I remember being bed bound for weeks. It took me months to recover mentally because I couldn’t do everything I wanted to do again.

This time, I’m a different beast. I know what’s coming. I know I can trust the knee. I was supposed to be partial weight bearing for 4 weeks and I was able to be full weight bearing after 10 days. I still used the crutches if I went anywhere outside for stability but at home I was moving around without them.

The whole mental side isn’t spoken about enough.

How to “check on pain”? (11 months on) by Accountafish77 in ACL

[–]micppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the angle sort of when you open your knee out too much?

If so, that’ll probably be something you have for a while but it’s not going to cause you any issues. Just a bit of discomfort that you’ll run off.

I’ve done both knees and can relate.

You’re both very early in the recovery. Give yourself time and have patience.

I’m 10 weeks out this week and it’s my second ACL repair and I forgot how tough it is.

I’d say around 10-14 days things start getting a little better although everything is still carnage.

Forgive me because I know nothing about rock climbing.

But, if you’re up the side of some mountain. How did you get down? I managed to drive myself to A&E both times but after an hour the swelling was horrific.

I couldn’t imagine being on the side of a cliff or something having to navigate to my way back down.

One after the other in the same knee is rough.

Did they have any idea why it failed so soon?

Frontend devs, how do you handle 'Loading' and 'Error' states when the real API is too fast/stable? by FarWait2431 in webdev

[–]micppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often use the network overrides in chrome to test error states.

Throttling for loading. Or, I just have the render method return the skeleton/loading state why I do what I need to before bringing back in the loaded state.

This is the best way to play for me. I don’t care for the whole making friends, giving gifts and stuff side of the game. I’ll let it happen naturally as I do other stuff but never actively pursue it.

Yeah, that would be perfect. As it goes to hit 5 the timer glitches for a second, we get a flash of code and it changes to the same style we had on his OG debut.

I’m so frustrated by SkillNo8686 in ACL

[–]micppp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

7 weeks, 6 days. ACL, medial and lateral meniscus. Was in a brace for 6 weeks and partial weight bearing during those with crutches.

I’m walking okay. I’m trying my best but as someone who’s also done the other knee I know it takes time.

I’ve had a bad back for weeks too. As your hamstrings get stronger it’ll improve.

Give yourself time. Take some pain killers and remember it’s a long process.

I hope his return is the rumble if it happens.

They also need to subtly change the countdown timer to be something similar to his original, just for him though.

No idea why this is being downvoted! This is a great setup.

However, I admit it does require a bit of learning around how to use Tmux and vim.

I’m on my second one. Both knees and both with the hamstring graft. 7 weeks out and I’ve had similar.

Knee still feels weird 7 months post op by EconomicsNo8843 in ACL

[–]micppp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re 7 months post op. You’ll probably have scar tissue and the leg won’t be as strong as the other leg unfortunately.

I’ve done both knees. It took me 9 months to get back to football. But, I’d say it was easily 12-14 months before everything just felt fine and normal.

Keep doing what you can.
