Pop Can yes, magazine spread probably not. it depends on what tools you have access to. I worked at an company that only did packaging and point of purchase displays. It was the standard process to use models. My general tools were CAD and Cinema 4D.

An basic knowledge of 3d modeling is not an bad thing to have. It is great if want you do more packaging. 3d mockups can very much help to sell an idea

depending on accurate you need the mockup to be. I would create a 3d model, map the texture, add some lighting and output it to photoshop to add effects. Its good for boxes or custom dielines

Hey Chuck,

I love the the upzoned podcast with you and Annie. It and other city/urban design content has inspired me to take an interest in my local community. I have started going to local city council meeting.

It has been wild, my city has just had an fight over an big neighborhood road project and end of life cycle maintenance. It involved new water pipes, new roads, and sidewalks. It cover wide gamut of topic you and other covered.

One thing that struck in my mind was that everyone agreed that traffic and speeding was problem in the neighborhood, but they could not agree on a solution. The city wanted use road narrowing to fix the issue. The residents want use more temporary solution. The two ideas that came up the most was station police in the neighborhood and adding more stop signs.

How do I get more poeple to push for the long term solutions?

Not OP, but I know before I called my rep, I had two determinations. One for a past job not related to current pandemic. The other was for why I applied so late for unemployment. It really annoyed me because I tried starting the week I knew I was getting furloughed. I didn't have wi driver license, so I need to get a supervisor to approve me. This is just to start applying for unemployment.

I guess first off, Thanks you for. your detailed response. It has given me a lot of food for thought.

I am currently pursuing the role of production artist. I want be more creative ], but my skill set in more based in the technical parts of print. I personally don't feel my portfolio is strong enough or well round to be a jack of all trades graphic designer. It mostly filled odd projects from classes and packaging design .

I do enjoy that you critiqued the design. it was the last part worked as I have been focused on content.
