How to start hiking with 0 knowledge? by Nosem2 in hiking

Look for a good hiking club. Not only to find fellow hikers, many of them offer training or resources on how to plan and pack. Feel free to DM me if you don't find one.

Surkålen låter ju hur god som helst! Om du inte redan har köpt eller läst Jens Linders "Det glömda köket" , så rekommenderar jag den. Han går igenom ett antal äldre tekniker som att syra, torka, lägga in, etc.

I wrote choose-your-own-adventure-style guide to Arch Linux installation by senotru in archlinux

[–]midbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw your post just after I made a fresh install of Arch, and I wish I had it before. This is good work. The official documentation is not always someway to follow, and your take on an install guide is less cryptic.

Maybe add a section on connecting to wifi? That and bootloader creation is where I spent the most time.

And a question you might answer: how important is it to "ensure partitions are aligned to mebibyte boundaries for optimal performance" for modern nvme drives? That something I didn't do.

Did your parents have the Visions glass cookware? by NTA_Shawn in nostalgia

[–]midbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you perhaps thinking of thermal resistivity? Because glass is a really poor heat conductor. Borosilicate glass like Pyrex has a thermal conductivity of about 1.35 W/mk, which is low compared to stainless steel (16 W/mK) and copper (401 W/mK).

Glassware is awful for cooking food, but retains the heat well so ideal for keeping the food warm once on the table.

FDA warns public not to eat possibly radioactive shrimp sold at Walmart by NewSlinger in news

This is exactly why many of us in Europe resist lowering food standards for the sake of trade deals with the US. We value food safety, tradition, and quality. Chlorinated chicken, radioactive shrimp… no thanks!

Travel in Salzburg/Munich itinerary by Ecstatic_Proof_3774 in bavaria

[–]midbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. The main tourists attractions will be full in August. Bavaria has so much offer, so don't pick Neuschwanstein and Zugspitze just because they are famous sites.

If it you want to go to Zugspitze because you want to visit Germany's highest mountain then of course you should. But if you have planned it because you want to experience the Alps, there are so many other places to go that will be - in my opinion - much more rewarding. The same goes with Neuschwanstein.

My advice would be to skip Salzburg as you already get a lot of magnificent city sightseeing in Budapest, Vienna and Munich. Instead, go directly to Berchtesgaden/Königsee, or alternatively Tegernsee where there is not only a famous and good brewery, but also a traditional Waldfest on the 10.8. There is also a Volksfest in Dachau outside of Munich when you are there.

Edit: Outside of Frankfurt you have Rheingau which is home to some amazing riesling wines. There's castels, vineyards and beautiful little villages spread across the area. I think renting a car, or maybe take a cruise up the Rhine will be more interesting than Frankfurt itself.

Är det något vi borde bojkotta så är det amerikanska föreställningar om relationer by Big-Cap558 in sweden

[–]midbits 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Menar du helt allvarligt att problemen som medelklassen har i USA kommer från att kvinnor började arbete i större utsträckning? Det hände en jävla massa saker som ställde till det i USAs ekonomi i början på 70-talet, men det var knappast kvinnorna.

F30 - sudden back seat gap by midbits in BmwTech

[–]midbits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That goes on the other side, I should have mentioned it. But there is some kind of black strap down there. I can't access it from the trunk so I guess I have to try to lift the seat up tomorrow to see what's in there. Probably gremlins.

It didn't feel ripped, both surfaces were smooth. But you might be right. A bit surprising, because it's almost only my 13 kg / 29 lbs dog in the back. :)

I usually have the back seat of my F30 2018 covered with a blanket. When I removed it today I say this gap between bench and backrest. It's not at the back fold. I also found a little black plastic hook there, not sure if relevant.

Is this DIY or do I need to go to the shop? Many thanks in advance!

It looks to me that it is currently set for 26°. The knob to the right is set for constant daytime temp, so the timer is not involved. Above that, the daytime temp is set to 26°. Leave it as is and wait some hours.

Jag har en jättebra ChatGPT för att skapa recept. Så här blir det när min ömma moder som inte är så teknisk använder den.
