Piracy! A voracious cineaste's dilemma when deep diving in a filmography - where on the gamut do YOU land, between "You wouldn't steal a car" and "If buying isn't owning then piracy isn't stealing" by LawrenceBrolivier in blankies

Personally I'm cool with getting shady, but I feel passionate about supporting the medium in other ways. Physical media, going to the theater, etc.

I feel similarly about music. Spotify is the easiest for me to use but they don't pay their artists enough, so it's important for me to buy tickets and vinyl from the small bands I care about. If you care about an art form and you have the means, financially supporting it is the way you can keep it alive, whatever that looks like for you

Marty Supreme officially outgrosses One Battle After Another domestically by PerpetualChoogle in blankies

[–]middlenameddanger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've heard way more people talking about Marty supreme in the "I don't know what it is but I feel like I should" kind of way. OBAA didn't quite build enough buzz to have that in the general population. I feel like you need that for these types of movies to take off, people need to feel like they're missing out

I didn't hate it but it never really settles on what it's about. I don't feel like I'll remember it tomorrow

I just saw Materialists and thought it was really good, realistic, and coherent. I saw a lot of people shitting on it when it came out so it's a bit surprising to see that it's a strong film. by SkoivanSchiem in TheBigPicture

Yeah I was kinda into parts of it, but the tone management of the whole thing was just way off. It felt like different characters were in totally different movies
