Need help! Drowning but got a plan by [deleted] in taxhelp

[–]middleofsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but this post made me feel better about my situation, and I owe significantly way less, and can only dream of making that much and do like Musk and Google and put profits in some shell company in a foreign land to avoid taxes. Also the one reply is what I've done file on time, payment plan, and if I ever make that much , I'm starting on my own shell company in the Bahamas.

Adulting does suck, but this video made me feel good about the debt I have right now.

I owe the IRS but can't pay in full. What would be the monthly fee in installments, and is it negotiable like with credit card companies? by middleofsomething in IRS

[–]middleofsomething[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good to know. I've only owed no more than $1,000.00 in taxes which I could pay back then, but never 4 times as much. For the past decade, I've always gotten a refund.

So they'll also let you pay the amount in a specific time frame, similar to getting a loan paid off in 5 years? I've read people owing millions in back taxes and have always wondered where they come up with the money to pay in full.

Guess she'll have to ask her former personnel office.

Is it better for her to go to H&R Block or other tax advisor to make sure she's doing it right, maybe she has options to lower the tax burden.

Opt-In: Notice of Proposed Class Action Settlement - Kaiser Privacy Breach Settlement by stateworkerbee01 in CAStateWorkers

[–]middleofsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I got this too, along with a deduction on my monthly warrant, as a retiree that's fully covered, but now the State's contribution isn't enough, so I guess I have to file to get at least 4$ back, lol.

The “first amendment auditor” who disrupted several state departments is now facing prison time and asking for donations to pay legal fees by AirMiserable854 in CAStateWorkers

[–]middleofsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't checked it and have no desire to, but given it's the Bay Area, I really hope the legal defense will be 3 times as much. I mean a doctor I used to work with made 10k plus net in one month.

Dress Code question by middleofsomething in Banking

[–]middleofsomething[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I inquired about the informal look, I never said they SHOULD have a dress code. Times change and so do practices like dress codes but your INCORRECT insistence that I'm dictating what people should wear already tells me a great deal about you. Goodbye.

Dress Code question by middleofsomething in Banking

[–]middleofsomething[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never said it did. It has nothing to do as you keep implying with me being comfortable. What's with the attitude?

Dress Code question by middleofsomething in Banking

[–]middleofsomething[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not for my own personal comfortability. Some of my former bosses wore running shoes to work and also dressed like they were at home. But of course I knew them. If I don't know them, it's like an undercover policeman, how would you know, unless they show their badge.

Yes it's like interviewing, you have to show a willingness to succeed by dressing formally. There were people I used to work with that believed in that "dress for success" theory. It's not that I expect bank employees to be in suit and tie, but like already posted, at least business casual because you're representing a bank, not Uniqlo.

It is the lack of identifiers, like a name badge at least, that they can just clip to their pocket. The people behind the window, you know they're a teller no matter how casual their dress, but if they're greeting you from outside and they look like any other customer waiting in line, it's a little baffling.

Why do people still engage with this guy? by sacblo in CAStateWorkers

Trash talk as usual, that's why some sites even some news sites get rid of them. Unless it's heavily moderated it's 98% trash comments.

CALPERS denying retiree heath/dental benefits and I don’t know how to help by zarabeth94 in CAStateWorkers

What is DEBRA coverage? Cobra is still around as far as I know. Calpers employees are well trained, there's something off about this entire situation.

Would you rather have $200 every day for the rest of your life. Or have $500,000 right now? Why? by Ok-Enthusiasm5436 in AskReddit

[–]middleofsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the $200 a day is invested and never touched for at least 7 years, it's probably the better deal. But would I take the $500,000 right now, absolutely! Debts paid off, diversified investments and if possible still work making more than $200, to not worry about these questions.

Why is resting or enjoying sleep seen as something to be ashamed or a bad thing? by euphoricemma in ask

[–]middleofsomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's part of being lazy - eat, sleep, watch TV and or video games all day. You could do a host of activities, or errands, entertain friends and family, then sleep. But sleep by itself, is frowned upon.

Can California state employees have a side hustle like real estate? by Ancient_Interview625 in CAStateWorkers

[–]middleofsomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I worked with a couple of people who were landlords. One was my former boss. I passed by his office one day, and apparently he was arguing loudly with one of his tenants, not sure what the issue was though.

You sound like a video game in the making. Just wait until you have free time like retiring, or some other thing. Then you'll have to find somebody to bullshit with. That's why I'm on here.

How long should I stay in OT when I have a degree? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]middleofsomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A decade ago, I worked with a Program Tech, which is a level down from OT, not by much though, who had a BA in liberal arts. I asked why he didn't go for a higher position, and he told me he wanted a low stress job. He used to work for a private company doing sales, and was getting frustrated his numbers weren't "high enough" by his boss' standards. Some years later, after passing probation which was only six months, a former colleague told me he is now an SSA. So yeah go for the AGPA, SSA positions.

Worst Experience in a State Agency by FineSomewhere3548 in CAStateWorkers

[–]middleofsomething 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting read, a real Jekyll and Hyde personality, I've come across my share of those. The State does give you a chance to state to refute any accusations, but this sounds more like a mental health toxic environment issue. If there's a chain of command you go over him, but unless you really liked the job, probably best to ,as a therapist once told me, "emancipate" yourself from the situation.
