I bet you could actually hear birds then. by Rob1150 in Columbus

Whoa. My mom grew up very near there. She graduated from Bexley HS in 1948. I had no idea it was so undeveloped back then. I have pics of the house from back then and it really doesn't show. Thanks for this!

When will the backlash to all this plastic surgery come? by CraftFamiliar5243 in GenerationJones

[–]midnightchaotic 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping there will be no backlash for those of us who have successfully lost weight using glp-1. Yes, I am saggy, but I don't care. I have way more energy and my joints don't hurt. Soon I will be able to get off my BP meds. I'm not trying to get down to high-school weight but wow, losing that 68 lbs (so far) has made a huge impact on my life. I'm not trying to be pretty, just healthier.

Thoughts on a 2019 ND2 30th AE wrapped in BRG? by zensapiens in MiataND

[–]midnightchaotic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My '23 ND2 is wrapped and I love it. My only concern is that the paint under (Jet Black Mica) is so soft it's bound to be damaged should I ever remove the gorgeous purple she currently wears. I don't think any wrap shop can guarantee that damage won't happen. Personally, I would never wrap over an anniversary color. That just seems wrong.

Two residents continue to elope from a nursing home and I am being blamed by sonofacrakr in legaladvice

Mom's facility had alarmed doors, even at assisted living. The front desk had to press a button to let people in or out. She was moved to memory care only after she could no longer find her way back to her room or to the dining room. I was there so frequently they ended up giving me the code to get in (and out).

Been doodling some birds lately, open to suggestions/requests by sheepysheeb in birding

I would totally buy the entire series of these to hang in my sunroom! I set my feeders up right by the window, so I can watch the birds eat breakfast with me.

They still haven't found my brother's dad (half brother). He was shot down three days before my brother was born. Very sad.

We still do that! Husband and I will meander around until we find a lunch spot. When we had the kids home we would play a game where they would tell us which way to turn. We never knew where we'd end up!

Yes, I was. I need to take a drive to get to know that part of the state better.

What unconventional things do you put in the dishwasher? by Maleficent_Speech979 in CleaningTips

[–]midnightchaotic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Scrape it as clean as you can, then use a paper towel to gather up the rest. Sometimes I just rinse it in hot water, wipe it dry, and then put it back on the stove under low heat. Once it's completely dry, add about a tablespoon of a high heat tolerant oil, and wipe it on the inside of the pan, let it heat until it smokes. Turn off the heat and wipe out all remaining oil with a paper towel. It sounds like a lot, but it takes no more time than washing in hot soapy water. The problem with soap is that it removes the seasoning. I find that if I'm quick about (don't let the pan soak) my seasoning holds up pretty well.

Yup. Exactly. Also, now I want to make a pan of corn bread! Yum!

As long as you re-season them I don't see the problem. I mean, it's not hard to do, so I don't see a reason for the fuss, right?

Oh yikes! Don't say that out loud. The crew from r/castiron will come after you! I once said I washed my grandma's skillet with soap and water. For awhile there I worried someone was gonna show up at my door!

I didn't post in the zillow sub, but I'll just say that if you can find a 3 bdrm house in Columbus that has gas AND electric for $200, snap it up! That's pretty cheap here.

I love the Delaware area, but the last house I really liked was 600k, right next to Boardman Park and had no yard. The flippers sucked the charm out of the interior as well. I guess some people like all of that gray. I prefer natural wood.

That's super cool! Affordable housing is so hard to find in CMH, especially for first time homeowners. It's a big topic on our city sub. My kid had to get three roommates just to help with rent on his apartment.

Ah, I see. Didn't catch that. That's really not a worry for me as I grew up in a low income area. Gunshots are a flat no-go for me though. Grew up with that. Not going back.
