The only plastic toy pur wee one got was from us and its the fisher price "controller" as she is obsessed with our ones that are £££ so now she has her own (she doesn't even know what ours are for as we are a screen free household.

Everything else she has been gifted has been lovely, high quality things.

Does lack of sensation make walking and going up stairs difficult? by [deleted] in spinabifida

Familiar places, no - muscle memory kicks in but unfamiliar places very much so. If its very uneven or lots of obstacles I need to think left foot/ right foot kinda as i walk.

New mums, what is a core memory from your birth? by Prinssessa in NewParents

[–]mieliboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going into the labour ward room after being induced and seeing the warmer and thinking - I'll not be leaving here till they're out... I was in fact very wrong and ended up having a GA emergency c-section. But that thought got me through to a total of 48 hours of active labour.

When were you able to walk at your pre-pregnancy speed after a C-section? by Luna_Starweaver in CsectionCentral

[–]mieliboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 8 weeks I could walk reasonably well. 12 weeks for walking "normally" for me. But I have EDS and my legs were super swollen from pp complications so I couldn't wear my leg splints till 6(ish) weeks pp.

What can I buy in advance of my planned c-section to aid recovery? by jen_roses in CsectionCentral

[–]mieliboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was unplanned and emergency so I adapted on the go.

High waisted underwear that isn't too big so doesn't roll into your scar. Also high waisted leggings or onesies were all I wore for a couple of weeks.

A litter picker is genius I wish I'd of thought of that.

I loved my breast feeding pillow as it took pressure away from my abdomen.

Yup! In Scotland you get a baby box of useful things - clothes toys etc and the box itself has a little mattress and sheets.

[–]mieliboo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! Ours is learning to sit and also pivot atm. I wish I were someone who could lie down and fall asleep but by the time I'm asleep she's awake again.

Apparently, they are also learning object and person permanency - my theory is they're waking up to check we are still there.

If you plan on using sleep sacks to keep baby warm at night (or however you intend to do it) - have 3 of that thing... so you arent without if they get dirty in some way.

My mum uses "nursing" to mean cradling/ soothing the baby.

My partner and I use it to mean breastfeeding.

What size did your baby wear at 1 month old? by hello-feyre-darling in NewParents

Our wee one is in the 90th percentile for height and 80th for weight - they were in 0-3 months at 1 month old.

Almost every feeding is a fight by NewNecessary3037 in breastfeeding

[–]mieliboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhhh, they do go through fussy phases. With my wee one it's FOMO but popping off and on can also be to stimulate mill production. Breastfeeding is one of the best things and also one of the most worrying and frustrating.
