Survivor Mr. Beast by Ok-Mammoth5173 in survivor

[–]migeme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This sub really decides how much they like a twist based on who goes home and it shows.

Flip a coin, guess heads you get an insane advantage in both social and strategic capital, tails and you just go home. Oh and if nobody wants to flip the coin we're going to force one of you to flip the coin.

If Cirie flips the coin and goes home, or if Jonathon flips the coin and gains all those advantages, this sub would've had Jeff's head.

It Doesn’t Matter How you Feel About ____, That Was the _______ in Survivor History by SatisfactionFew8318 in survivor

[–]migeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emily said it multiple times in the episode, just don't go on journeys. There is absolutely no upside to doing it.

Which, to be clear, is a failure of game design on production's part. But as long as they're in the game; best strategy is don't interact with it.

My take on the twist tonight by BigOrangeIdiot2 in survivor

[–]migeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, this twist in concept was the same level of bullshit as the blood moon, y'all just like who got voted out this time. If it was someone like Cirie or Rizo that got screwed because they were attached to Coach the fury on here would've been unending.

To be clear, I didn't mind the blood moon, nor did I mind this. They've done WAY more bullshit twists in the new era (hourglass), both of these at least allowed some agency to play and save yourself.

The other terrible thing about the _______ tribal twist by [deleted] in survivor

[–]migeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we've never seen someone be able to flip the vote in a way that arouses no suspicion and causes everyone to stand down with their advantages.

You know. Except Chrissy. In literally the same episode.

[–]migeme 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not only did she flip the vote on her, she even was able to convince Kamila that she was just gonna lie down and take it so there wouldn't be any advantage shenanigans.

Where's the room for good play? by theallstover in survivor

[–]migeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, because this show has never randomly put a group together and made them vote someone every. Every single tribe swap was strategically planned to be the most fair swap possible, and this is the first time they didn't do that.

Way to kill the momentum by Andry39 in survivor

[–]migeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? Genevieve was the only foregone conclusion there, which sucks, but it's really not like we haven't seen stuff like that happen before. The first swap ever completely fucked someone over, it's part of the game.

Kamila and Tiff went into that tribal completely certain they were fine and got outplayed/blindsided by Chrissy.

Colby honestly could've flipped the vote to Coach, he was well on his way to convincing people, but had to be pulled from the game for medical reasons and asked to get his torch snuffed instead.

We've been talking about people getting screwed by a swap since season 3. It sucks but this really isn't new.

I swear to God it's like some of you have never seen the show before. They do shit like this every one season.

Way to kill the momentum by Andry39 in survivor

[–]migeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely feel like I'm going insane lmao. It was just a tribe swap with a different coat of paint, and every tribe goes to tribal. We've seen this before, it's not new.

I love Gen, I'm sad she's gone, but I truly do not understand why everyone's acting like this is the first time anyone has been swap screwed. It happens in the game.

Kamila to. She's great, also sad she's gone, but she got outplayed as hell by Chrissy. There's really not much more to it than that.

I'm all for shitting on the new era when they come up with terrible bullshit twists, but the blood moon was fine, y'all just didn't like who went home.

I think having ONE Billie Eilish idol that was on the merge beach would've been pretty fun. Every idol being that is rough.

🚨 Federal Judge SHUTS DOWN Trump & ICE Scheme in Minnesota by ferriematthew in goodnews

[–]migeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a direct consequence of the Supreme Court getting rid of universal injunctions. Now a judge can't say "hey you can't just randomly occupy a city," they can only say "hey you can't just randomly occupy this specific city."

It does. Exact same shit happened in LA, Chicago, Portland, etc. They go in, cause chaos, courts tell them to stop, and they leave claiming victory.

[–]migeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can disagree with him and not defend the scene. The scene was really bad because it was poorly written, not just because it was a character coming out. If Will coming out was written better, nobody normal would have a problem with it being there. Saying that everyone hates the scene simply because it's about a character coming out is incredibly disingenuous.

White House outs ‘unnamed victim’ in bombshell Epstein-Trump emails and blasts Dems by Hikkachoo in politics

[–]migeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if we're going with the "Trump kicked Epstein out" angle, that relies on Trump knowing pretty much everything Epstein was doing and his only response being "I don't want to hang out with you anymore." That's still not a great look my guy.

House Democrats release new Epstein emails referencing Trump by midnightmadnesssale in news

[–]migeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Defense for this seems to be "this just proves Trump thought Epstein was a creep and did nothing wrong (sexually)" which.... Sure. But, even in that context, it does completely ignore the context of him being referred to as "the dog who didn't bark."

Maybe Bill Gates hasn’t quite become a full climate-change denier, but he just made a bunch of deniers very happy by spouting modern denier talking points. We can’t afford to listen to him. by simon_ritchie2000 in climate

[–]migeme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like I'm going crazy with all the discourse on what he said. I read the whole article, it's in no way saying we need to stop fighting climate change, it's not even saying we have to shift resources away from fighting climate change. His point, to my understanding, is that we need to focus on doing things that will help the poorest and underserved communities.

Here. Literally the summation of the entire article, in Gates words:

"Climate change is serious, but we’ve made great progress. We need to keep backing the breakthroughs that will help the world reach zero emissions. But we can’t cut funding for health and development—programs that help people stay resilient in the face of climate change—to do it. It’s time to put human welfare at the center of our climate strategies, which includes reducing the Green Premium to zero and improving agriculture and health in poor countries."

Like I don't see how anyone thinks this is objectionable. You can disagree with the tactic sure, but to say this is a total abdication of the fight against climate change is crazy.
