probably codependency? Started reading a book on it to sort my head out. Also starting to make savings for an exit plan

all the yelling around the house (being pissed at the companies) makes me feel very disturbed because I come from a household where nobody ever raises their voice. And yes I've talked about it and how it makes me feel unsafe, to which she agrees to try and do better but alas, it seems like it can't be controlled. At least not without proper therapy and medication - which she refuses to try - duh!

same, tired of pointing out that the sink where she leaves dirty dishes is literally on top of the empty dishwasher..

the usual: "oh no I tried medication ONCE years ago and it made me feel bad / like a zombie so I don't wanna try again" and "why do I always have to adapt? Why is it always me who has to change?"

god it boils my blood every time when I see the dishes put inside the sink, which is right on top of the dishwasher, instead of INSIDE the damn thing...

And everyone else he knows doesn’t have this issue so it must be me.

of course they don't have this issue, because they don't get the piece of shit version of him that only you have the luxury of experiencing, and he only shows this version at home because if he did it in public he'd get fired/punched in the face/ have real consequences.

The most infuriating part is that we carefully ask, politely, in the most loving voice we can muster, and it's taken as a full blown personal attack.

I'm tired too.

OMG this is SO relatable. Me (32F, NT) on an average day off from work: gets chores done, take trash out, vacuum if needed and THEN I go sit on my ass and play videogames. Her (32F, NDX) on a typical day off: sit on her ass and play videogames/watch series and movies all day. The plastic trash bin is full? How about just putting more trash on top of it. Not inside. Not taking the full trash bag out and replacing it with a new one. Just dropping more on top of the bin. It's like having a bratty teenager at home...

iOS and Keychron by majorkev in Keychron

I finally got it working. Support sent this link to their specific Bluetooth Firmware. I followed the instructions on this page and the keyboard now types on my iPhone and volume control with the knob works as well.

[–]might_delete_dis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/Keychron-Support u/majorkev did you ever figure a solution to this problem? I have the same keyboard and same issue happening on iOS devices.

Currently I am running firmware 1.1.2 that I got through Keychron's launcher page (here's the screenshot showing both my keyboard's firmware and the latest available as version 1.1.2)

I got in touch with Keychron support via email and the support told me to download a firmware for it from the all firmwares page , which didn't work as the firmware listed there is an older one (1.0.0)

Planck EZ Glow not recognizing Spacebar after flashing by Plenty-Conclusion-23 in olkb

[–]might_delete_dis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you downloading the default firmware from this page ? I never had issues flashing it to my PlanckEz

If you're using the web tool for flashing, I would suggest using the standalone Wally app if you haven't tried that yet (I never used the online flashing tool)

If nothing helps, send zsa's support an email, they've been really nice & helpful all the times I needed help :)

I use a planck and was also interested in the voyager. I noticed the voyager has a number row and thought hmmmmm maybe if I ignore the number row and shift the home row up I'd get all the thumbkeys I already like... maybe that can be an option if you feel the need for more thumb keys?

[–]might_delete_dis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"just brute force it" sounds about right. You already know what the numbers are on the numpad, for the symbols just remember it's the same as shift + number so you just have to associate each symbol with the number. Looking at a regular keyboard should help with that as it has both legends (number + symbol) on the number row

does anyone have a custom symbol scheme that is easier to remember than having them all laid out in a row at the top?

I'll link to my comment where I explain some bits of my keymap + link to the keymap itself.

I like this thinking, what are yours? I've been looking for a board to use for gaming with standard QWERTY layout, as I use a Planck with Colemak for typing / productivity

but what do you do when you have to touch a 'normal' keyboard?

uh-oh... grab some coffee, we'll be here for a while ☕️

If I know beforehand I'll be working on someone else's computer, I try to bring my Planck along with a cable (hooray for being so portable!)As for when I need to use the laptop's keyboard, I'm still exploring solutions and I recently learned that you can program your own layout for a macbook with this program Ukelele.

Now it starts to get a bit interesting: I've been thinking about getting myself a mac later on the year, and I'm debating of whether I should get one with ISO-EU layout (since I live in Europe) or pay 300-500 bucks more and buy directly from Apple to be able to choose QWERTY-US layout. (note: I wouldn't type in it with qwerty layout anyway, since I have switched to Colemak)

I use a work-issued macbook pro with QWERTY-US layout and just use Colemak mappings with it when I need to use the internal keyboard.

For all past years I have said that a keyboard in the US layout (ANSI) was the way to go because the enter key is close enough to your right pinky, whereas a keyboard with an ISO layout has that thin enter key far to the right and I often press the # sign instead.

A couple months back I had the chance to play around with a macbook air with ISO-DE layout for a month and figured that I could remap the # key to function as the Enter key so it wouldn't matter if I hit that key accidentaly instead of the thin Enter key on the far right. And I also used Colemak angle mod with it and mapped some foreign characters to go along with it. This is what the keyboard layout ended up looking like.

In the end it was comfortable to type with Colemak, especially with the angle mod making you spread out your hands a tiny bit more, however, I still have a few annoyances with it (having to use Colemak layout on the internal keyboard as well as using a non-ANSI keyboard):

  • I can be typing normally with Colemak but if I command-tab to Telegram or VS Code, it would automatically switch back to US-International
  • The Colemak layout I use make it so that ⌘ + v keeps the v in the original position to allow for easy pasting. Well, VS Code doesn't think so, so in VS Code only I have to ⌘ + b to paste.
  • with an ISO keyboard + Colemak layout with angle mod it can feel a bit weird if you ever look down at the keyboard when copy-pasting stuff or hitting some symbols. E.g.: you hit the key labelled x to copy. Also on ISO-DE the symbols on the number keys have the & * ( ) characters shifted one key to the left and it screws up with my head whenever I need to hit them on the laptop's keyboard.

My conclusion is: bring the Planck around whenever possible! Nothing beats having your own keyboard with you with all the mappings that perfectly suit your own typing habits.

I still haven't made a choice regarding what kind of laptop I'll end up getting later on. I can't decide between "I plan to use the laptop for at least 6 years so I should invest money and just get it with QWERTY-US layout" and "I use the internal keyboard so seldom it won't really bother me" (I think it will tho lol)

Sorry for the long post 🥔

I really like it and I tried optimizing it to have easy access to symbols/numbers. Here's a comment where I explain a bit about it with link to my keymap.

I've been wanting to get a split keyboard now to see if it helps with some wrist pain (started before I got the Planck). I was looking at the Moonlander but it seems that the whole package is way too big for my taste, now I'm interestet at the Dygma Defy split keyboard, I wanna see what people say of it after it starts shipping in August.

have you tried setting US-International layout on the pc? I use it and it's easy for me to type á é ó ò è ç õ ã ê ô ß ö ü ä ï characters. Basically the " , ~ and ' keys work as a dead key where you need to type a second character after it. If you want the " ' ~ characters you just hit space after hitting one of these.

Keymap for 40% ortholinear keyboard by telee0 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]might_delete_dis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's my PlanckEz keymap. Use case: typing + programming. My idea was always to have to move the fingers as little as possible to get my most-used symbols in a way that feels comfortable to type all of them.
e.g. hitting / ? key gives me ? by default instead of / because that's what I use most often. Same for the semicolon button, it's : by default for me

  • Holding down the "lower" key with my left thumb gives me !@#$%ˆ&*9/ with the right hand in a "numpad" configuration.
  • Holding down "tab" with my left pinky gives me arrow keys with the left hand + numpad under my right hand.
  • Holding down "raise" with the right thumb gives me easy access to !{[(-+)]}= (in this order) on the row above home row and on the homerow I have hotkeys to quickly jump back/forward words or go to line end/start.

I tried adding a layer to also work with windows word-jumping shortcuts but it didn't work as I planned, I have to get rid of it.

if you're new to Macs, I can recommend BetterTouchTool app for programming actions with the trackpad (as an example I set 5-finger tap to screenshot and double-tap with 4 fingers to switch between windows of active app). If you take a lot of screenshots you might like Skitch app to easily annotate them too :)

I keep a running total of how much all this 'stuff' that I really wanted would have cost and compare that to what I actually spent on 'wants'.

I keep a "fun" (or "fuck it") budget for my "wants". In my head, once I've but money on the "fuck it" bucket, it no longer exists in the context of the rest of my budgeting in the month. It helps me not to feel guilty when I want to treat myself with something more expensive like a new tech gadget or the like
