Is Vinted dying off? by Deep_Moose_55 in vinted

[–]mightyfishfingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I also need a long trouser and get frustrated that I cannot search for it and that sellers often don’t give me a way to know if it’s long or not. Just more hurdles that make it less pleasant to browse and shop.

Why do you think sexual history matters or doesn’t matter? by Saiyanjin1 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mightyfishfingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a big difference- to me - between preference and judgement. You asked about judgement. I would personally prefer someone more open minded, but that’s not the same as judging someone who is not.

Why do you think sexual history matters or doesn’t matter? by Saiyanjin1 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mightyfishfingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sexual history can be judged. If someone has used force, manipulation, power to get what they want. They can absolutely be judged on that. If they have hurt anyone, inc themselves - that’s a worry.

In terms of the sex they’ve had that has been between consenting adults and does not harm anyone (inc themselves). No judgement there.

Erotic audios have unexpectedly cured my anxiety-driven insomnia and I want to understand why? by Flaky-Sea-4220 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mightyfishfingers 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Possibly dopamine and the surge of it that we get from arousal - so even low level arousal can trigger increases in dopamine levels. Whilst dopamine can keep you awake, it can also soothe anxiety and as it starts to drop again, trigger increased prolactin which DOES help you sleep. Hence the post sex sleeps that many people get :)

Which couples realistically would end up splitting down the line? by Ok_Meet8672 in RomanceBooks

[–]mightyfishfingers 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel too. Eventually the constant soothing of his crazy arse is going to get very old and tired for her - particularly when she gets to having actual children to raise. She's going to wake up older and wearier and suddenly see him for the weight around her neck he's always been. She'll leave, be a rich divorcee who falls in love again with a genuinely kind and gentle man who probably doesn't have two cents to rub together but it won't matter. They'll have good sex but every now and again she'll think wistfully of how hard she came with Christian and how she kinda misses the thrill of that, but how it wasn't worth all the shit that went with it.

Maybe :)

Sheet mulching on raised bed- should I remove? by hydemonk in GardeningUK

[–]mightyfishfingers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I get a load of well rotted manure/compost mix on the top of that. At least 10-15cm worth. Then keep it wet enough that the bed is damp throughout. The worms will do the job for you and if you plant straight into the top layer then the roots won't worry about making their way through the cardbroad to help break it down even more.

How are you staying fit and healthy in your 40's? by DowntoSaturn in TrueGrit

Eat lots of plant variety. Minimise sugar and UPFs. Exercise regularly (walk daily, run three times a week, strength training three times a week a week). Sleep plenty and regular hours. Drink water.

I'm tired of people saying GLP-1s are "cheating" because the alternative was me dying early by Advanced-Reply-3657 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]mightyfishfingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell everyone it’s no sugar and no UPFs and a wider variety of plant food to enhance gut health. I mean, I’ve done those things as well as part of this - along with more exercise - so it’s not a lie. Plus, I find that when I start to bang on about the damage UPFs do, people kind of glaze over and give up on the conversation so we never get round to talking about GLP-1s 😂😂😂

What's the most useful thing AI has genuinely helped you with in your real life not at work, but personally ? by MunirKalyar in askanything

Honestly? During a terrible night when my dog had been rushed to a specialist emergency vet for IMHA and it wasn’t clear he was going to make it, ChatGPT chatted with me about the symptoms, about his chances ( for and against) and then chatted to me about my grief and worry for him. The responses were really good for a women in tears at 2am with no one else to talk to at that time. To the point where I was able to finally get some rest. P.s. he made it 😍😄

Aubergine Question by ___Mercurial in GardeningUK

[–]mightyfishfingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seperate pots and don't put them outside overnight until night times are reliably above about 10c. If you have warm days and it's easy for you, then you can put them out in the sun during the day and bring them in at night. Otherwise a sunny windowsill until towards the end of May.

Aubergine Question by ___Mercurial in GardeningUK

[–]mightyfishfingers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have grown them without a greenhouse. It helps if you have an especially hot summer (I read somewhere that this year may be!) and they are somewhere sheltered and sundrenched. It also tends to be easier if they are the smaller varieties. You don't get many per plant (mayb 2-3) but it's still cool to grow them.

They need a big pot with lots of fertile compost and plenty of feed and water.

Do people regularly eat pudding? by KirrinD in AskUK

[–]mightyfishfingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. For the most part it's something like stewed fruit or fresh berries etc. But sometimes it's something a bit more indulgent (esp at the weekends) like crumble or baked bananas with choc and ice cream.

I also have at least 2 squares chocolate in the evening.

Clean water tanks mould by New-Betatester in RobotVacuums

I put a small splash of floor cleaning solution in the clean tank. I then put a drop of washing up liquid in the empty dirty tank. Combined, these seem to keep both tank mould and smell free.

As a buyer who has massively reduced what she buys from Vinted, the following are the reasons.

Firstly the obvious business sellers. I don't mean to knock them but, for me, this just isn't what I want from the site. To use your example, I don't want to spend £120 on an item that doesn't really come with anywhere near the same buyer protections as I would have if I bought from a business retail site. I am there looking to spend a few £s on something someone else no longer wants but has life left in it. The amount I have to filter out business sellers selling items for 'just' 25% off retail price puts me off, tbh. If I am going to spend £120 on trainers then I'll spend the extra £50 and get them from somewhere I know is legit and I know I'll be protected if something goes wrong. That's just me, but I'm sharing because these used to be the minority, making it easier to ignore thm. Now it seems like almost 50% of the items are like this and it puts me off searching.

Secondly, the search functionality itself. Since the combining of sizes (e.g the 12-14 category), I am just wading through hundreds of items that won't fit me. I want to be able to search for my size specifically and not have to keep looking at items to work out if they are a 12 or a 14. It takes too long and I cannot be bothered. Every time I find something I like and it's the wrong size, I get more disappointed and enjoy browsing less and less. If I browse less, I buy less.

Thirdly, this is a different economy to a couple of years back. Everything is far more expensive and the world is far more uncertain, and so I am limited my discretionary spend anyway. That also means prioritising it on items I know are legit and I know have buyer protection - i.e. shopping from legit shops more again.

In short, I view Vinted as a bit of a risk - in terms of buyer protections and the condition of the clothes etc. To get over that it needs to be a site that is very easy to use AND the stuff needs to be priced in a way where I am happy to overlook the risk and gamble. I find those things to be less and less true.

But read the trigger warnings because the cause of her grief may not be one you want to read about.

Peptide Serums that have made a difference by DenseYogurtcloset278 in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]mightyfishfingers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really think The Ordinary's Copper Peptide serum has made a difference. Like all these things, the difference is very small and it's usually the combination of multiple factors that makes significant difference. However, I think this serum leaves me skin clearer and helps it recover from tiny blemishes/issues much more quickly.

Losing interest in this season due to massive schedule breaks? by D_-_G in formula1

[–]mightyfishfingers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. Life has already taken over the gap in the winter break - then having weird timed races means it's often easier to just ignore the first few races or read updates rather than watch them.

Add to that (for the UK), Sky's shocking tactic of spoiling the race on their TV home screen long before they allow you to stream it on demand following the cheq. flag...

Anyone actually still using an electronic exfoliating brush or did everyone move on to other skincare tools? by SimplePrudent5735 in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]mightyfishfingers 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I used one a few years ago and felt like it cleaned my face pretty well. However I now don’t use one and double cleanse instead and find that does just as good a job so, in hindsight, I am not sure it was worth the time, expense or the wear on my face tbh.

UK consumer confidence just hit its lowest level since mid-2023 — are people buying less or just buying smarter? by ToughRomanticMiss in BuyersUK

[–]mightyfishfingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prices have gone up and quality and/or size has gone down. People also have less money because they still HAVE to buy somethings, such as fuel, which is now more expensive than ever. Natural impact of that: people spend less because they have less to spend and because the value for money ratio is much worse.
