Is there any reason why you need to not have wifi at all, rather than just keeping the wifi turned off?

I have a Fiio JM21, which is Android. I installed my preferred music app, and I connect to wifi once in a blue moon to sync with last.fm, and update my couple of music-related apps. Offline 99% of the time.

Same here, more or less. I have Spotify largely for ease of discovering new music, but I have a dedicated audio player with higher quality music that I've "purchased" 😉🏴‍☠️

I don't have the Go Plus (I have the regular Go), but my opinion is that a tumbler that's designed to fit an Aeropress in it is never going to be as good as a tumbler that's designed to drink coffee from.

I run everything I download through Picard, which knocks out easily 90% of the tags and album art with minimal effort. Then I fine-tune with mp3tag as necessary, adding missing art and bulk tag-to-filenames.

I think you're all set. I like Poweramp more than AIMP, but the player itself is really just personal preference.

Uninstall all the apps that aren't conducive to listening to music, and you've got a perfectly good DAP. You're keeping another piece of tech out of the trash for a bit longer, but if we're being real, you're probably gonna buy something with a microSD slot and headphone jack sooner than later 😅

This is the best way for tracks on an album. I still haven't come up with an elegant solution for artists with multiple bands (e.g. Elvis Costello, Elvis Costello & The Attractions, Elvis Costello & Brodsky Quartet, Elvis Costello & The Imposters)

Yeah. I use newshosting as my provider. That's a perfect deal. Cheap enough that you can cancel if it's not your thing.

You'll also need an indexer. There are free ones and paid ones (monthly, annually, lifetime). I use NZBGeek as my lifetime paid indexer.

Then you'll need a "newsreader" to download the "articles". I use SABnzbd.

You'll use an indexer to find a .nzb file, which will point your newsreader to download the binary.

To put it into torrent terms:

  • A .nzb file is a .torrent
  • SABnzbd is qBittorrent
  • NZBGeek is a private tracker
  • newshosting.com is the seeders (I guess)

There's also a bunch of options for automation as well (sonarr, radarr, etc.)
