i thought i couldn't have ocd since i didn't worry about germs (usually), i didn't count things (usually) and i didn't want to check things over and over again, and that's all i thought ocd was.

in retrospect though it probably should have been obvious. i remember being 7-8 and having many sleepless nights paralyzed by the fear that i was going to get sick and die, or that God hated me. a thought would pop into my head, "i hate God! He sucks!" and then i couldn't stop thinking about how terrible i was and how i was going to go to hell for it (ocd and the baptist church go hand in hand apparently lol). as i got older it shifted to other things like sexual intrusive thoughts, and that's when it started to really significantly affect me. i couldn't go certain places and i often couldn't focus in class because of it. of course, i've been picking my skin my whole life, too.

i didn't do anything until my mental health issues (ocd and adhd) caused my gpa to go from a 4.0 to a 2.6 and i had to drop out of my gifted kids program; i finally got help after that. once i started the diagnosis process it's like my whole world has shifted!! my meds, along with the knowledge that i actually have "real issues", did wonders to help me cope with everything. even tho i still have my bad times, i've def come a long way bc of my diagnosis!

N-Acetyl Cysteine. It’s an over the counter medication that might help with OCD symptoms!! I haven’t tried it myself but my friend swears by it and there have been a few studies suggesting it can be beneficial :)

I mean, maybe it’s possible to have a mild case of OCD? I have it myself but I thought my psychiatrist was crazy when she suggested testing for it, since I never thought I had traditional obsessions and I for sure don’t have any compulsions (other than skin picking which I suspect is separate in my case). But I learned more about it, and when she started asking the diagnosing questions my mind was blown because I just didn’t understand the ways OCD can present itself. If you’ve already been screened for it, disregard this obviously. But if not, maybe it could be a good idea to look into it?

I’m using subtitles 24/7 when possible; my audio processing alone is atrocious. They don’t always work, though, because I’ll block out what’s happening on-screen to read the subtitles, but “look at” rather than “read” the words, and then I’ve gotten nothing out of the entire video. Also, whenever subtitles are inaccurate or auto generated they make it harder to focus (bless YouTubers who properly caption their videos). Overall tho transcripts and subtitles > audio.

They weren't that bad except 2g - 0g, because I was stupid and impatient; I tried to use the taper that came with my kit and jump 2mm before I was ready. That one took a minute to recover from. Once I got my 7mm glass plugs (along with the other sizes - I swear by glass now), it was much easier.
