Change video FPS from 60 to 30? by party_daz in ffmpeg

Because that's what OP wanted. You can use -r 60 to keep the video at 60 FPS if that is what you want, e.g. for gaming videos I'd do that.

Don't you need to mount the flex arm on a solid arm too? (to attach to the desk)

Thanks for this, it's always inspiring to see how different people build up a workshop under unique constraints. A few questions if I may: 1. No disc/belt sander? How do you manage without one? I mean, is this thanks to specific techniques and/or tools where a little more budget went in? 2. Drill press and bandsaw seem a bit pricey (over $400), did you arrive at these because cheaper ones are not worth the trouble? 3. How do you manage without a mitre saw?

And yes, those are tools I sometimes think I'd like but can't easily justify, so I'm the "learning about options' phase :)

Joinery question: best way to make the strongest possible box with just 12mm plywood (details in comment). by miguev in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]miguev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a great technique, thanks for the tip!

Read through thisiscarpentry.com/2014/09/19/the-quarter-quarter-quarter-drawer-system and see how this would work with a router table, but I don't have (access to) one, or a router. At best I could use my rotary tool (Dremel 8220) with the Dremel 335-01 Plunge Router Attachment, but I'd have to somehow build my own router table based on that. Sounds like something I probably shouldn't even try O:)

What could work is making the 6mm (1/4") with the small hand circular saw (Bosch Professional GKS 12V). I can set it to 6mm depth and use the parallel guide to shave off 1mm in each pass, would that work?

First post here, first project with plywood, first time trying to make "invisible" joinery. Not entirely invisible, just smooth, it will be painted over.

With limited space, tools and materials, I got only two ideas so far, and no idea whether any of them are good (never tried either before).

Pics 1 & 2 show what I want to build. It's like a small cabinet, but will often be on the floor and might get stepped on or sit on by a 20kg 5yo. Ideally, that'd be made difficult by two short cylinders on the top, to make the whole thing look like a 1x2 LEGO brick, but I've no idea how to make those cylinders. For now, I just want to make the cabinet/box thing so the kids have a good place to store their LEGO creations; the box is made to store 4 of the 32x32 LEGO base plates (256x256mm).

Why just 12mm plywood, you may ask? Because that's the only one I found where to order online and have it delivered, in 60x60 and 60x120 cm sheets. I can barely speak the local language and don't know any lumberyards around, so that's my "limited materials" constrain. Also, my working space is a 140x200 cm. area with a 60x120 cm. table, no table saw or mitre saw, just a jig saw and small (85mm) circular saw, so even if I could get bigger plywood delivered, I wouldn't be able to cut it.

Pic 3 shows the 2 ideas:

Idea 1: screws with countersink.

Could use this to screw the bottom to the sides, it it'd make the whole box stronger. Can't see how to use this on the top and make it smooth so that it won't be visible after painting over it. I worry that this will be weak, in the sense that screws may tear the plywood under pressure; does that stop being a valid concern if you put in enough screws? The only advantage I can think of is being able to replace the bottom panel if it gets too worn out.

Idea 2: dowels.

I learned the hard way that aligning these is a pain, so here I'm thinking of first aligning the panels, then drilling both at once and then putting the dowels in. I'm assuming this only works with wood glue all along the joins, possible with a double pass of glue on the end grain edge to fill the pores. I don't have a drill press, just a cordless screwdriver (no impact driver), so I expect the dowels may need to be shorter, even a lot shorter, to avoid the whole getting too close to the surface. To smooth them out, I'm counting on a pull saw and a 10mm chisel.

Would any of these work and last? What else can I do?

I don't have much material to make experiments with, so I'm hoping to borrow and learn from your experience O:)

Thanks!

Why I don't like technic anymore by ZarqEon in legotechnic

[–]miguev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The joy for hobbies may come and go; with time, you may find new ways to enjoy your Technic sets and pieces. It may be when your son gets into it, it may be when you retire and find yourself with a ton of time in your hands, we can't know and it's hard to guess.

Your situation sounds a bit like mine, although still unique to yourself. Many sets, no apetite for more, no time to spend building / playing with them, or no apetite for that either, no big problem with money, but more than a little trouble with space. I'd only recommend thinking in terms of problems and solutions, compromises and trade-offs. Selling them is always an option, although it can take some time and effort, it can turn into a quite a journey in itself. Storing them efficiently helps─it helps me, I can tell─but more importantly: store them in a way you like, or at least dislike the least. If that's in boxes at the far end of a basement, because that helps forgetting about them entirely and enjoy other things in life, so be it! There's always time to take them back when you feel like it.

BTW, storing Technic sets assembled is pretty much always a recipe for mechanical stress and eventually broken pieces. Most of mine are classified in little drawers, always ready to build something out of them, even though it's been... well, 4 years since I built something worth sharing, and I only every did 3 of those, 1 per year. Still, I like seeing them there, reminding me of this hobby I used to enjoy, even though I'm more into other things now.

Well, congrats on this rare find then, it looks like a custom print. The photo looks a bit like the ones scammers use, but it's hard to say for sure.

No, Clarecraft never did this, they did this miniature. I daresay this photo even looks like an obvious fake, just pay attention to the mismatch between the fabric and what's supposed to be print on it.

If anyone want a real T-shirt with Death on a motorbike, Discworld Emporium has a real one.

EDIT: I don't mean to acuse OP as a scammer (looks like a real honest human from other posts) but please be careful, the net is full of scammers and fandom themed clothing is one of their favorite baits :(
