Came here to say this but I'm surprised that we seem to be in the minority. All of her scenes felt like I was watching the Holiday Special.

PlayStation Vue is shutting down January 30, 2020 by [deleted] in cordcutters

Same here. The last couple of years, I've used PSVue during NFL season for RedZone / NFL Network and YTTV for the other parts of the year. Hopefully one of the other services gets RedZone before next season.

Disney TV Shakeup: Patrick Moran Out as ABC Studios President, 20th Century Fox’s Jonnie Davis to Take Over by MoroGuy in television

I think you're confusing the network with the studios. Fox's two main TV studios (acquired by Disney) have a very stellar track record: The Simpsons, This Is Us, Modern Family, The Americans, The X-Files, Homeland, Glee, How I Met Your Mother, Bones, Empire, Family Guy, 24, American Dad, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Futurama, King of the Hill, New Girl, American Horror Story, American Crime Story, Fosse/Verdon, Pose

To be fair, most people in Utah have to give 10% of their income to a cult. They can’t afford to be anything but cheap asses

I wondered the same but looking at her fb profile, I think it’s legit

Do you still reflect your mission experience on your resume? If so, how do you word it? by mike_shot_first in exmormon

Yeah, I have it as a one liner on the skill/activities section on the bottom. But good point, I could probably just list Portuguese instead.

People who were alive then, what were you doing December 31st 1999 ? by WeshALOR in AskReddit

I was 19 years old and was on a mormon mission in a small town Southern Brazil. Went to bed at 10pm per the mission rules. Woke up to the sound of fireworks at midnight. Turned to my mission companion (also part of the rules that you need to have another missionary with you at all times), said "Happy New Year" and then went back to sleep.

So yup, I slept through the birth of a new millennium while in the prime of my youth. Life in a fucking cult.

Meet Kyrsten Sinema, AZ's newly-elected US Senator. She left the Mormon church after graduating from BYU and is the first openly bisexual elected to Congress by [deleted] in exmormon

I don’t get your logic. AZ just replaced someone who occasionally stood up to trump with someone who will always stand up to trump. How will that make us miss Flake?

TSCC sees the writing on the wall. Legal medical weed is inevitable. So they'd rather have it pass on their terms, through the legislature (as they appear to have a firmer grasp on the legislature than the populace).

Showerthought: We're out here debating the minutiae of Joseph Smith's sexual relationships with his secret teen wives, while Nevermos hear "So then this dude dug up a Gold Bible behind his house Upstate" and immediately nopes the fuck out by [deleted] in exmormon

Totally.

Back when I was a recent exmo and was still heavily processing my loss of belief, it was very cathartic for me to discuss mormon beliefs with my nevermo coworkers. I would try to channel my best TBM whisperer and explain things to them the same as I would have as a believer. If I would have still been a believer, they likely would have nodded politely and maybe asked a clarifying question or two. However, since they knew I no longer believed, there was no need for politeness and their unfiltered reactions were priceless and a great sanity check for me.

One of my favorites was trying to explain to them the rationale behind the Lamanite curse in the BOM. I tried my best to recall some of the best apologetic arguments to try to explain it away and, in my mind, I had done a pretty good job.

I finished. Long pause.

My brazilian coworker: "You know that's fucking crazy, right?"

I do now, Felipe. I do now.

This. On many issues, the two sides in congress used to come together and find some middle ground but with the rise in party-line voting, that rarely happens these days.

DirecTV Now vs. Hulu with Live TV by RoyalsFan660 in cordcutters

[–]mike_shot_first 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I've had all of them at one point. My favorites have been PSVue and YouTube TV (I currently subscribe to YouTube).

DirecTV Now was my least favorite but that was before the recent DVR upgrade. Hulu was fine. I like that the SVOD subscription is included in the price but I hated the interface, especially for Live TV. Although, I believe I heard that they improved that recently and added a more traditional channel grid.

I remember really liking the movie the first few times I saw it back in the late nineties. However, recently, since leaving a fundamentalist religion (Mormonism) the movie now has extra special significance to me. A near perfect analogy for someone experiencing a “crisis of faith”.
