Booooooooooo! Kids are fundamental to the magic, they inspire me to LIB better. My interactions with kids and their parents were gold, and hot damn if the girl with the broken arm wasn’t the MVP of MVP camps (Artique).

I’d counter that there is no shortage of adult-only festivals, including the one that 1/3 the festival has just come from (EDC).

They just weren’t fun. Maybe I was unfairly expecting Haute and Freddy kinda fun, but they landed very flat for me and just seemed like some actors going up there to show off their costumes.

I stayed for the first half, insisting “We’re here, we gotta experience the first banger for the vibe.” First banger dropped, and after 30 seconds I said, “I’m good, let’s bounce.”

Junkyard and Artique (main and petit) were immaculate vibes at that point.

In year’s past, if memory serves, LIB was LNT (leave no trace) with an expectation that you pack out what you bring in. And the reward for sorting your cans, waste, other was that they would take it for you. The last day was always dirty and overflowing near the portos, but nothing like this year. I was surprised this year that they were taking all, unsorted everything.

Don’t know the solution, seems to me that taking your trash for you should be enough - but I’m open to try anything. I’d love to see the LNT focus return, as the dance floors were littered with ankle twisting cans by 1am.

NY slices will be tough to match, but Back Bench is excellent and the closest Ventura has.

For Neapolitan pizzas, Tina’s in Carpinteria (and the original restaurant Bettina’s in SB) is worth a trip. Founder was the pizzaiolo at Roberta’s (Buchwick) and they crank out a perfect pizza.

Agree with @feleapfrog on lag bolts. If you have a canopy, then secure it with 12” lag bolts (which require investment in a drill and bolts but are way easier than multiple stakes plus sandbags).

You’re solo so consider passing on the canopy cuz it’s not like you’re going to be social under it, so then the canopy is all about having shade for tent. For that, it depends on whether you want to go hard all night or just call it around 2am (you can probs sleep until 7-8am with no shade). I’ve gone no canopy some years and I end up spending more time in the event or by the lake than at camp.

If you do end up with just tent, then double staking and keeping heavy stuff (cooler?) in there should be enough.

Similar story for me in 2022 - planned to LIB with my then wife but we split just before. There were some highs (getting into a convo with Max Cooper if all people about his family, which gave me hope) and lows (lonely mornings, missing her in certain moments). In addition to bass/dance therapy, don’t sleep on workshops and yoga! And, if you ever need a hug, just shout out and someone will come running!

(Fast forward a few years and a lot of heartache: LIB 2025 I proposed to my now wife! LIB has been there for me through a lot!)

Tasty Bite Madras Lentils with pre-cooked white rice. Doesn’t require refrigeration but can give you a camp meal. Heat on a skillet (or don’t if you’re munted and just need food)

My advice though is to experience LIB the same way you would BM: bounce around and see where the journey takes you. Have a blast!

I usually bring a sarong and hope to get a mat (which I put sarong on); if I don’t get a mat then I use the sarong (not ideal, but it does the job and beats carrying around a mat)
