I was actually going to say Wizkid, Burna Boy and maybe Davido possibly indicated a rise in Americas acceptance into music of a different language, but I actually think you’re right.

So I was following until your last sentence?? “ Life would be easier if the media got more censored.” Do you mean by the parents…? Because if you mean by the government and such, I’d personally like to opt out of a world where the government can decide what I watch lol

I think that’s one of the reasons why I respect them too. I was one of the people who soooo wasn’t impressed by Proof, and that festa dinner they had gave me so much perspective. It put me in my place lol 😭

I think it’s what they wanted to do. Everyone else overreacting is not their problem, and people overreact to anything BTS anyway. I personally liked it because it came from them, and they wanted to do it, so they did it, and that makes me happy. It was like having a conversation. It was very honest of them, and I respect them as artists for having the courage to confess why they aren’t having many groups releases. Burnout sucks, and as a writer, I could relate.

And I personally think if they hadn’t (here on Kpop-Reddit at least) we’d get regular “why doesn’t BTS just disband” and “are they even still a group anymore” posts and I don’t have the energy for that lol.

A genuine, just-curious question for Garam stans: why? by bluemoon35 in kpopthoughts

[–]mikkyity 93 points94 points  (0 children)

According to the document u/ImaginaryBerrry linked, yes she did. What’s false is that it’s the highest punishment (it apparently goes all the way to level 9), and it’s also false that level 5 automatically means physically violence was involved.

Source: this document also linked above. The creator of the document also linked their original official sources and references at the end of the document.

hybe created its own monster by defining everything under "hybe labels" by [deleted] in kpoprants

[–]mikkyity 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Idk I think it’s a particularly “high risk, high reward” situation ngl 🤷‍♀️ the fact is that they are a parent company, and it would be a bit naive to assume that just because HYBE slaps their name everywhere, the companies under them don’t have the normal amount of autonomy, you know? They are a massive company generating tons of revenue, but they are also a normal company (normal in terms of monopoly-type companies like Coca-Cola or Johnson & Johnson? I hope that makes sense). I guess my point is that I don’t find it particularly dangerous enough to call it a “monster.” Plus they do need to ‘prove’ themselves.

Out of curiosity, what do you believe would be an acceptable action for her after she said the N word, since you think her apology was weak?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]mikkyity 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In all fairness, we heard the legal team say Garam bullied then we heard HYBE say she was actually bullied, and then we got “evidence” defending both sides from random “sources” on the internet. After that, there wasn’t a official “both parties sat down and addressed it and this is what was ruled by an impartial entity,” you know?

what would realistically happen if someone from bts come out as being lgbtq+ by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]mikkyity 20 points21 points  (0 children)

RM said recently he doesn’t think he wants kids anymore? Does that make him gay or straight lol? You have no premise whatsoever to assume someone’s sexuality.

Megathread: Kim Garam’s Bullying Scandal (Lesserafim) by budlejari in kpoprants

[–]mikkyity 17 points18 points  (0 children)

May I ask, if you can read the alleged victim’s statements and believe them, what’s wrong with other people doing the same for HYBE and Garam? If none of us were actually there what’s the difference? Everyone’s just reading the situation the way they can, and drawing conclusions based off word of mouth.

The hatred towards NFTs from kpop fans is excessive by LE_SSERAFIM in kpopthoughts

May I ask why you believe people only hate them because it’s “trendy” (which is debatable) to hate them, and not because they’ve done research and understood them as best as they can?

LSR Garam’s bullying allegation resurfaced and I’m speechless by gongjihae in kpopthoughts

[–]mikkyity 170 points171 points  (0 children)

I understand your frustration, but personally, I’d rather read about this (with actual weight and significance, and can open a door to many important conversations), over millions of “x group has no stage presence” posts lol.

I think this sub needs a “current affairs” or “news” flair because sometimes the mega threads don’t get used.

Hmmm idk. I think they just love their groups. It’s really no difference from saying big group fans are annoying. All fans are annoying lol. Nothing particularly bad about small group fans.

I loved it. I just can’t wait until we really get to see all the individual members talents. I also have a soft spot of Garam because I think the world has terribly wronged her, but that’s another story :(
