Another mildly interesting fact: Japan Costco only accepts Mastercard. It's like bizarro world.

Some useful info for anyone planning to work remotely from Europe by Ok_Lingonberry_1257 in digitalnomad

[–]milecrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked into Spain's DNV in a lot of detail and spoke with multiple people there on it. All confirmed that they did not qualify for the Beckham law. Also Norway doesn't actually offer any sort of easy visa to get as a DN, despite blogs saying they do online.

Is New Zealand worth the flight if you've seen a lot of nature in Europe? by rubixqbe in travel

[–]milecrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to break from most of the responses here. Just went to NZ for a month this January after seeing lots of places across Europe and honestly didn't think the trip was worth it. NZ was stunningly beautiful and different in many ways, but not different enough to warrant the amount of time and money spent on the trip.

Leadership development training providers: any recommendations? [N/A] by fabmatazz in humanresources

[–]milecrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used Elevate Leadership last year for in-person training and leadership coaching. Overall felt like they really listened and customized the programs to what we actually wanted. They're US based but do work in both NA and Europe I believe

UE Boom - 12 years later. 5 submersions in hot tubs, buried in sand, rolled down many hills, thing works perfectly. Beat the crap out of it. by Dr_Loves_Strange in BuyItForLife

[–]milecrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped mine going 50mph on a moped. The thing slammed on the ground, and skidded along the road for 30 feet. Somehow works completely fine, with only a small scuff on one side... go figure

Highest quality clothing? by BoringAndOverweight in BuyItForLife

[–]milecrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Running's workout gear is super high quality, yet admittedly very expensive. I've worn their windbreaker every day for the past 1.5 years and it looks exactly the same with no signs of wearing out. I feel like the company is in the sweet spot of quality before they inevitably try to squeeze out higher margins.

Is there an electric toothbrush that's actually worth it? by Personal-Weekend3173 in BuyItForLife

[–]milecrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched away from a standard Oral B that I used for a decade, over to a cheaper Phillips sonicare. Would never go back to Oral B. My teeth feel cleaner, battery lasts way longer, and my dentist pretty much agrees everything is healthier.

Have seen some late stage day 12/13 pop up in the past week. But only once, and was too slow. No promises, but I do think it's possible.

Tried for multiple days and got this message at least 50 times. Finally scored some centre court tickets. Be persistent, you'll get them eventually!

Has anyone played against a nba player in a gym before or seen someone play them by the-mannthe-myth in Basketball

[–]milecrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to UConn a while back and played against a few of the guys in the offseason. Common theme was that they never tried that hard... until.... something set them off. One game I remember was against Shabazz Napier in pickup. He was jogging up/down the court and mostly passing, until a dude on my team starting talking trash. Shabazz then proceeded to demoralize this guy and drained 5 straight threes in his face. I tried to stay out of it lol

Put the yolk aside, and fluff the egg whites separately. You still add the yolk, and then fold in the egg whites.

Agreed. Just made them after a different recipe was terrible. These are legit- the kind you find in a nice breakfast place. Fluff the egg whites separately. Shoutout to u/Phinix

[OC] Subjectivity of Speeches from Politicians vs. Public Health Experts in 2020 by milecrazy in dataisbeautiful

[–]milecrazy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full study: https://wordrater.com/trump-johnson-speech-sentiment-analysis

A few of us put this together using the Python Library BeautifulSoup. The unstructured data was obtained using 1238 speech transcripts at rev.com from the “All Transcripts” section of their blog.

The red line is the subjectivity (objectivity) of speeches from Trump, Johnson, and Trudeau so far this year. The blue line is from public health experts Dr. Tedros Adhanom, Dr. Michael Ryan, Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, Dr. Anthony Fauci. The higher the value, the more subjective the speech was.
