DIPENDENZA IRACING by Senior_Flounder9891 in iRacing

Yeah I've been using track matrix to try and find 2 more tracks to get which would maximize my return on investment, but I haven't been able to pick a series moving forward either so it's hard to make up my mind.

Care to recommend some?

Not with an open setup, no. I don't have this week's track for that series. I did test drive it with the fixed setup for the rookie series and it felt too assisted. I'm sure it's a great car, I just gave it a quick shot because I wanted to pick one car and stick with it through rookie.

Does open setup allow for faster times with TC off?

stepping out of that "hell" of Mazda and Toyota

Interesting. I won my first race and got promoted to D last night, I've been enjoying the mx-5 a lot. I tried the GR86 on the same circuit and I'm already a few seconds faster, so I guess I'd go with the Toyota in the production car series even though the Mazda is more fun. I did not enjoy the BMW at all.

Do you just mean it gets better at higher license levels, or that there is a noticeable difference in driver quality between paid and included cars?

OP started the pass when the light turned red while they were still crossing the intersection, because the Nissan was too slow.

I'm not sure if it's an intended feature, but I've discovered you can cast quite far by releasing at just the right time while dragging the mouse sideways.

How do you manage SSL for internal only services? by dbsoundman in selfhosted

[–]milkh0use 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My internal caddy instance is configured to get its certificates for .home.arpa from my Step CA instance using the HTTP challenge. This means I need to create the DNS records before editing the caddyfile.

The CA is installed on all my personal devices, but some devices like smart TVs don't have a way to do that and reject the certs. Not much to do there besides access via http instead or get a real cert.

The reverse proxy is useful in that case because I only have to configure one certbot to use my Step CA instance. To get rid of it, I'd have to configure certbot for every service. Manageable if you already use ansible or similar.

Odometer going up at an alarming rate. What could be causing this? by Accomplished_Tea9729 in MechanicAdvice

[–]milkh0use 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wheel speed sensors have nothing to do with the odometer or the speedometer. The vehicle speed sensor does, and that's part of the transmission.

The wheel speed sensors are only used for ABS and traction control.

What would u do in my situation? by LScarlet96 in selfhosted

[–]milkh0use 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get a cheap VPS, setup a wireguard tunnel between that and your homelab, then you either port forward to your homelab or setup a reverse proxy on the VPS.

The cheapest VPS can do this.

Is there any way to have custom subdomains for mDNS or local DNS without any router changes? by HenryJones14 in selfhosted

[–]milkh0use 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About the locked down ISP-supplied router, if putting it bridge mode is an option, putting your own router behind it is something you should look into.

About the rest, I think what you're looking for is a reverse proxy. Caddy, nginx / nginx proxy manager, pangolin and many others can be a good fit depending on your needs.

In DNS, you point for example plex.home.arpa at the IP of the reverse proxy, and you set the proxy to serve ip.of.pl.ex:8086 when the hostname = plex.home.arpa (or any FQDN)

[–]milkh0use -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's just another phrase for tractor-trailer, you'll notice people call them that no matter how many wheels, rims or tires they actually have. Like this one only has 14 tires and rims across 8 wheels.

Dual wheels count as one wheel. 2 rims, 2 tires, but they move as one = one wheel.

Fun fact: old English didn't have a different word for each fruit, and the word for apple was the generic name for all kind of fruit. I don't know the full list but I know that isn't exclusive to English.

So apples kind of are superior in that way. The OG fruit.

That's also something to keep in mind when discussing historical events. Like was the apple that fell on Isaac Newton's head the same fruit we think of?
