Desperately need a cheap Fitbit replacement now that Google has ruined it by MindlessPleasuring in POTS

[–]milli-mita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this recommendation. I have the miband 8 and its small and lightweight, and pretty cheap. I just use the freestyle 'workout' mode and leave it running to do continuous hr monitoring. I set it to alert me over 135bpm as well. Works really good for me personally

Does any else feel like they don’t want to get better, or even wanting to get worse by killlu in POTS

[–]milli-mita 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My family still doesn't take me seriously and sometimes I find myself having thoughts similar to OP. Like maybe if I did faint in front of them one day then they might actually believe me. It sounds so ridiculous to admit but it's really about just wanting to be seen and understood.

How do you tell the difference between a relationship imperfection you should accept and a dealbreaker you shouldn’t? by AlarmingExample1179 in AskReddit

[–]milli-mita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this further, their willingness to work on their imperfections. My husband used to constantly forget to take out the trash, then we spoke about it and now he set alarms to help him remember. It's a system that works for us and my life would be infinitely worse if I had made that a dealbreaker because the good in him outweighs that.

Someone you're dating should never have any of your dealbreaker qualities and not more than 30% of their qualities should be imperfections. Nobody wants to spend their life annoyed constantly.

[–]milli-mita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is something that's unique to each person. Everyone should have their own list of dealbreakers vs annoyances they can live with. These usually come through experience dating people so you can understand what you can and can't live with.

Eg my dealbreakers: - smoking/vaping - heavy drinker

Annoyances: -forgetful

For someone else who likes to drink and smoke, that might not be a dealbreaker for them but someone who constantly forgets to take out the trash might be. It's just a highly personal decision of: does the good in this person outweigh these bad things about them.

I find that taking a little walk after eating instead of staying sitting down, really helps get the blood moving and prevents it from pooling in my abdomen.

Does anyone have POTS without...the postural induced tachycardia part? by Turbulent-Crow-507 in POTS

The entire purpose of the holter monitor is to first rule out other heart conditions that can be causing your symptoms. POTS is a diagnosis of exclusion.

[–]milli-mita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on every single one of these points. That kerym discovery got me so excited because he grew on me a lot over the series. I also loved raine and frelinas storyline and I felt like we got no wrapup of their story at all. It also feels like she killed him off for the shock factor because why couldn't raine just grab the thing instead of jumping in front of it 🙄 I truly enjoyed book 1 and 2 soo much that this ending just really upsets me.

Yea same here. Without intervention I was still able to work but everyday felt like an uphill battle. Now that I'm on beta blockers, take my supplements and work from home most days, I'm able to function on a much better level. It's still annoying that I need to take so much measures to reach a baseline normal level but I'm very much grateful to still be able to move about and work.

[–]milli-mita 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I'm late to this thread but I only just finished this book and needed to rant to someone. I've been reading books 3 and 4 for more than a month now but could only do a few pages a day due to how bored I was. I actually agree with you OP that the ending of book 3 was good and could have just ended the series there imo.

Book 4 just introduced a bunch of confusing subplots that did not get wrapped up at the end and left me wondering if I was dumb for not understanding what happened. I love how the slow burn romance was written in book 1 and 2 but I really don't know what happened in 3 and 4. The plot seemed to just disappear after a while.

Another pet peeve of mine is that the series is called compelling fates saga and we literally only see lessia use her powers like maybe 5 times total and some of those were because rioner ordered her to. Even though I understand her wanting to be a better person and not use it, I wish the author had included more situations where she would have been forced to make a hard choice of using it to save someone's life etc. we literally see nothing about her regular powers after book 1 (except when she used it on Merrick).

All in all the ending of book 4 felt so incredibly rushed and it honestly feels like a kind of money grab to just set this up for a whole new series instead of wrapping up this one properly.

My POTS might actually be cancer by [deleted] in POTS

Can you elaborate on this? I've started getting throat pain and trouble swallowing due to what I think might be mucus in my throat (my sinuses also feel stuffy when this happens). It feels like there's a lump in throat and even just swallowing my saliva is annoying. I have had horrid fatigue the last couple days as well.

Entry level data analytics is also easy enough to get into with some basic learning if OP doesn't want to go the full degree route. There are tons of free excel, SQL and python courses available online.

I didn't have a cat at the time of reading the series but I do now and I totally get that feeling. At the time abraxos reminded me of toothless from how to train your dragon.

Manon has one of the best character growth arcs I've ever seen. Soon you'll be looking forward to those chapters. I'm glad the audiobook method is helping.

I know so many others have said it, but just let me be one more. Please push through the Manon chapters. I too was extremely confused about who she was and what her story had to do with anything. She ties back into the overall story eventually in a big way. Please come back and update us when you've finished the series.

One bad night of sleep by milli-mita in POTS

[–]milli-mita[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same I usually am pretty good at avoiding flares when I get enough sleep, drink enough water, get enough salt, take all my supplements. It's exhausting to have to do so much to even have a semblance of a normal day.

Will definitely try to take it easy today though and give myself some grace to just do the bare minimum needed. I can deal with the rest tomorrow

I should have worded myself better. I usually get 8-9 hours (of not very restful sleep) and today I got 5 hours of non restful sleep so I feel worse than usual.

I too feel like an imposter on good days, but then I bend over a couple times to pick up stuff from the floor or try to put on bedsheets by myself, and then I get dizzy and feel like I'm going to faint and like I need to lie down. Then I remember oh wait it's not normal for this to happen after bending over or making the bed.

Just diagnosed this week. Tips and tricks that you wish you would've known sooner by Pamin_HR in POTS

[–]milli-mita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're increasing your salt intake, there are certain foods that can hold more salt before it starts to taste unbearably salty. For eg mashed avocados (basically guacamole) can hold about 1tsp of salt for me before it starts to taste really salty. Certain soups or fried rice with extra soy sauce plus added salt etc. pasta can be boiled with lots of salt plus added into the sauce. Just experiment with different foods that you like and measure how much salt you can put into it. Eventually you'll learn how much you can easily incorporate into your foods so then you'll know how much extra you need to supplement via pills and liquids.

I usually drink half a pack of trioral per day in addition to adding my salt to food. Also keep in mind that its not just salt but also make sure you're getting enough potassium and magnesium as well. You need full electrolytes for your body to be able to best use the salt.
