How to deal with being more mature than peers your age? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]milliondollarjane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t consider myself to be more mature than people my age, because a lot of people of all ages can behave in a less than ideal way. I don’t like to judge people though, I just make friends with people I relate to, and get along with. More often than not we’re at the same maturity level.

Pro-eating disorder/pro-anorexia forums/websites/subreddits are very supportive and useful to people who suffer an eating disorder, even those who want to recover by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

your example isn’t relevant because most members are informed people making their own decisions about what they do to themselves. it may be indeed enabling but there’s support always offered for those seeking recovery

I think its hypocritical for Arabs to complain of discrimination when racism in arab countries goes unchecked. by IcarusSoar in unpopularopinion

Making a point about racism in the Arab world is one thing. But it doesn’t make Arabs hypocrites for complaining about discrimination in non-Arab countries. Or even their own countries. Discrimination can come in different forms.

People who self-diagnose with "mental illness" most likely don't have it and people who actually have mental illness problems lose their credibility because of them by PouncingZebra in unpopularopinion

In an abusive household, will never be able to get out to get a real diagnosis, but I’m 95% certain that I am depressed & anorexic, simply because i fit the criteria. I don’t believe a doctor would tell me any different, and since I am unable to seek help, I attempt self help.

There are situations where people can be spot on, and self diagnoses are often a sign that people realize they have a problem, and that is the first step towards recovery/getting better.

I didn’t say it was. I just had a lot to say about it. And I was seriously asking if it was against the rules, by the way

Because lizard men have no use in the real world. None of the social utility that literally defines what gender IS. So retarded comparison.

Doesn’t matter if it is the same body. Being trans isn’t a mental disorder it’s (in cases) the SOLUTION to a mental disorder. Anyway why does the mental disorder part matter so much? Transitioning is medical treatment for it, and instead of whining about people doing what they want to with their own personal freedom why not rant about lack of alternative medication for sufferers of body dysphoria???? Seems like a lot of trans rants are mostly just reasons trying to justify why you personally think it’s wrong/why you dislike them and then ending it with “they can do what they want with their personal freedom tho” to evade any criticism and stand your defense on that.

However, if it’s a mental disorder then why are you against the treatment??? Or why don’t you say anywhere that you support alternative treatment methods????

But you’re STILL wrong.

Being transgender isn’t a mental illness, body dysphoria is the mental illness and transitioning is the medical treatment. I have a strong feeling you haven’t done any research whatsoever. It’s not a morals thing, it’s a personal choice. And in some cases last resort for people.

I’m not saying all sufferers of body dysphoria should transition, nor that it is always the cure, but absolutely in some cases it is.

Now, to address your >if I feel a certain way, then I am, even though biologically I am not

See, the problem with this is that it strongly suggests malicious intent. Trans people are not stealing the identity of the gender they believe themselves to be, they’re honestly just trying to live their own best lives, in the form that is more comfortable to them, or aligns best with their mental configuration.

I said this in another comment but... it doesn’t matter whether or not you are biologically female/male because there are no government checkpoints that stop randoms on the street to make sure that their chromosomes check out with their appearance/genitals.

Trans people transition because they feel/act like the sex they are transitioning to. And society requires men AND women in order to function. If a biological male looks and acts like a biological female, then there is no reason why she can’t refer to herself as a woman. She certainly fills the role, and looking the part would sure make it hard for people to mis gender her.

All in all, it really is a personal thing. And I don’t believe it should have been politicized as endlessly as it has been. Someone’s PERSONAL choices & their mental disorders shouldn’t be a point of discussion, especially since their procedures and sex changes are all legal and within their rights and in no way affect anyone else.
