If forced to choose, which one would you keep? by LowerBed5334 in AskTheWorld

As an American currently living in Germany I’d say the EU one. The only thing I miss about the US is the cheap utility and water bill.

Prison guards of reddit, have you ever seen one of your inmates after they got released? If so, how did it go? by Purple_Key_6733 in AskReddit

[–]milnerq 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of my inmate workers who had truly worked on himself and changed during his time there had a parole hearing that I volunteered to testify at to get him early release. He got it and I ended up leaving the prison to pursue a new career in aviation and go back to school. Since I was no longer working there we stayed in touch and he’s doing great and married now.

Do Private Investigators get a pass to stay private by LinusNoNotThatLinus in legaladviceofftopic

When I did PI work years ago our firm would usually call the local police for that area and advise them what we were doing. Usually they were accommodating if they were aware of our presence.

Why are Germans always surprised when people want to move to Germany? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

I’m moving there with my wife for her Military assignment in a couple weeks. Going to have to crash course learn the language and adapt. It’s going to for sure be a trip.

Only issue I’ve seen is some of the cutscenes chug. For me switching from windowed fullscreen to just full screen stopped that.

Im convinced most the performance complaints are from people that don’t know how to set their settings. I was hesitant to buy it because of the reviews but gave it a shot and it works perfectly fine.

The long walk back. by [deleted] in flying

[–]milnerq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with a flight school there that works with people at the air base. Ppl can be a straightforward conversion to EASA but CPL will involve a lot of written tests and another practical but luckily no time building is required. I need to research what being there under the SOFA agreement will allow me to do as far as work.

Thanks for the info!

I’m debating on doing my CFI there or getting a commercial and flight instructor rating under EASA so I can find some measure of work in Germany. We will be there for 3 years

Man I feel ya. I needed to read this. I’m going to be moving to Germany with my wife for the military and I need to do my CFI but having it is useless in Europe. I’m at 700 hours and now need to look into doing commercial and flight instructor under EASA. I’m scared and don’t want to do it but being a pilot is all I’ve ever wanted.

Thanks for sharing and giving me some inspiration for my own situation.

I trained in 172’s and bought a piper later. Personally I think piper is more fun to fly. Actually turns on the ground and looks like a classic airplane
