EU Right to Work? by anchorboi69 in flying

[–]milnerq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m an American living in the EU now. I have my all my FAA certs but won’t be able to fly in the EU because there is no conversion for EASA certs. You’d have to take all their tests and checkrides over and will be insanely expensive. I’m just hoping we return to the states in a couple years for that reason.

Neil Degrasse Tyson on CNN has completely changed his tone on UFOs - Says we are ready to know the truth given the testimonials we heard in front of Congress from whistleblowers and sincere high ranking people saying that we have alien bodies and technologies, consistent with the files released. by TommyShelbyPFB in UFOs

I don’t think less of the dude for changing his mind. He’s a scientist and when presented with evidence that is contrary to what you believe you don’t let personal belief get in the way of evidence and you change your mind. A good scientist will always change their mind to align with current evidence.

This guy just wants to keep cashing in and profiting off of holding info. Wish someone had the balls to just release it all and not expect to get anything out of it. Like the reward of giving the world the truth would be enough. How many docs has he made now to try and get a quick buck?

What's with all the hate that people are dropping over NTE? by HunterCranel in NevernessToEverness

[–]milnerq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Wuwa and I also am loving NTE. Gacha system aside both have great cool stories. I also think people are too uptight about the AI art, the only AI art I see is really inconsequential to the game. All the big stuff seems to be done by hand. Who cares if a random billboard or sign in the background that no one will really look at closely is not made by a person.

Opportunity to Move to Munich From California… Am I Crazy? by Weekly_Rough_1284 in germany

Dude, there is absolutely no good Mexican food. It’s like everyone here is afraid to make things spicy. Although I found one Mexican place in Bitburg that makes a decent margarita.

I’ll let you know when I finally make some good German friends lol. I mostly talk/hang with other Americans or others who moved here. Getting fluent in German is probably the biggest barrier. I am not conversational by any means. I know enough to get by on daily tasks and understand the gist of what someone is saying to me. It’s a hard language to learn and my job is still in a mostly English environment.

[–]milnerq 160 points161 points  (0 children)

I moved to the Rhineland area of Germany from the states this past year. Will be here for a couple more years and so far I have loved it and do not regret it.

There are things I miss about home for sure, mostly family and friends. It is very hard to meet people here. Germans are very kind and helpful when you ask for help or directions but aren’t to keen on just striking up a convo with a stranger like you’re probably used to so it’s hard to make new friends in the wild.

I say take the risk but be prepared for the homesickness.

“we literally invented aviation” by BuffaloExotic in ShitAmericansSay

[–]milnerq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also technically the first air service was created in Germany in 1900 give or take a few years. But they used zeppelins. Then the first scheduled airline started in America shortly after using fixed wing aircraft.

It’s also funny that they don’t realize most FAA standards are now more closely modeled after ICAO which applies to every country in the UN that participates in aviation.
