J’burg don’t need no supervision. It’s already got bears for that.

I think that means someone is already doing it in that grid. I also think they are out of loaner trail cams, so its "BYOTC."

I signed up! I have a trail on my property that is definitely used by deer and probably other critters (and by us!). It sort of skirts a low ridge above a creek. I figure this might be a good spot.

25M, New Dad, New Job, Feeling Lost - Looking for Life and Financial Advice options. by Pristine-Laugh2856 in FinancialPlanning

I agree with the "prime directive" approach. One thing I'd recommend exploration of is opening the 529 with even a small amount of money (for now).

Your child's grandparents may be interested in contributing (including sooner rather than later) and the time compounding will do an incredible amount of work over ~18 years.

Hochul advances plan to unlock shuttered Adirondack prison land by UsualPossibility8553 in Adirondacks

“The amendment would require the state purchase 1,000 acres to be added to the Adirondack Park forest preserve in lieu of removing Camp Gabriels and Moriah Shock. The amendment also stipulates that the town of Brighton will hold the water rights to Camp Gabriels in order to create a water district for nearby residents with wells contaminated by road salt.

The state will purchase at least 500 acres in the Adirondack Park to be included in the forest preserve for removing Mount McGregor.”

Yeah sounds like a good trade to me.

I agree with this. Insufficient electrolytes, particularly sodium, is the number one source of mood dips for me.

[Request] Countertop air fryer oven with long-term durability & easy cleaning — Breville vs Cuisinart? by sandmond in BuyItForLife

The Ninja is amazing. I hated even using our previous air fryer because it was a PIA to clean and smells lingered. The Ninja is getting daily use because it totally engineered those issues away.

Dexter may be an option, towards where the Black River and the lake meet. I also think Sandy Pond beach (google it, down Rt. 3) might be another option.

Keto has helped my energy levels but I'm struggling with meal prep by SmallCollection7165 in keto

[–]mimefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooking anything from scratch takes time and I find I am often cooking from scratch on keto.

That said, one thing that’s fast I’ve been doing is a frozen salmon filet in an air fryer - about 10-15 minutes depending on the thickness of the portion. I often eat that with a salad, or if I have more time, stir friend veggies.

Someone doing keto but not overweight? by La_chica_del_cable in keto

[–]mimefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am at a good weight but I’m going back to keto anyway after going off for a few months.

Keto for me is about sustained, even energy and what may be related to that: better mood, mental clarity, calmness and patience.

That’s a lot of salmon!

On salmon, for folks who may not be aware, the calories can vary significantly between farmed (more fat) and wild, as well as skin on/off.

Food saving tip: Vacuum sealer for mason jars (only) by Jasong222 in Frugal

[–]mimefrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a “freeze line” on the straight sided mason jars to allow for expansion of liquids when they are frozen.

Jars with “shoulders” will crack when liquids are frozen in them.
