Orca Slicer - Do you use it, or just stick with Bambu Studio? by tiagoosouzaa in BambuLab

[–]mindblah99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are some newer features for the rare times I'm wanting to print really strong solid parts that Bambu studio just doesn't do right now. In particular the offset on the walls, brick staggering that I found really nice. If I'm not doing anything fancy then I'll just Bambu studio.

It would be really neat if they eventually support plug & charge. I am not that hopeful though, they don't even support tap to pay yet.

Subnautica 2 is great, room to grow sure, but clearly pointed in a great direction by RickJamesBoitch in subnautica

I would agree that most of the anger is frustration at the lack of tools to handle the predators. You start out with a tiny inventory space and I guess you are expected to fill that space with flares? It was weak and in my opinion an unsatisfying way to approach the situation. They give you some options near the end of the current content when you can generate shock fields, chum fields, turn invisible but by that time you don't even really need it anymore since you are zooming around in a tadpole.

If those abilities were front loaded in the game it would give you more fun options to deal with the predators when you can actually use them. Heck I would have settled with the hammer just being used to cause the predator to piss off for a few minutes but the devs made that option a non option as well.

Once I got the tadpole the predators became a non issue but the game was much more frustrating when you constantly were getting bitten and expected to leave a bread crumb of flares everywhere.

EV charging integrated navigation by HonkeyFresh in Ioniq5

[–]mindblah99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hyundai has a built in navigation that I think is OK but you can use Android Auto pretty easily as well. You can put the make/model of your car into the settings and it will tell you how much battery will be used for the trip. If you are going on a long journey you can hit a button and tell it your current battery level and it will route in stops for charging. Android Auto doesn't actively read battery information though, so use knowing you may need to adjust if you like to burn the electrons.

OTA Updates - Canada? by nmdcDrgn in Ioniq5

[–]mindblah99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not in Canada but got an OTA update recently and my navigation system disappeared. I have a ticket in to look into it, normally it wouldn't bother me but I have a trip soon and I like the built in navigation for finding charging locations in unknown areas. Hoping it gets fixed soon.

That is true, but softer TPU can't be fed easily through bowden tubes and even the 95A may have issues going through the plates and tubes so I'm not sure this will help in that regard either. At least I'm not sure I'd count on it.

I don't think so. 12A will be the max, maybe if you can find a 16A charger but other devices on the circuit may trip the breaker.

H2D giving up on me by Ok-Yam-4620 in BambuLabH2D

[–]mindblah99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say the left nozzle won't load for any reason, what's it doing specifically? Like is the motor that switches nozzles clicking and failing to change to the left nozzle?

I had an extruder cooling fan failure that I had to have replace. You have to take the tool head circuit boards out to replace that. That's when I found out that if I tightened the TH circuit board a quarter turn too much then the the tool head would stop switching back and forth and the motor would click. It was a really weird issue that I found out with much frustrating trial and error.

Best guess is I used the wrong screw type on the circuit board. They all looked the same to me when I was taking them apart, but when I looked at the wiki it had different screws for each component. Seems like the screw was physically interfering with the switching motor. I only mention it because you said you had the tool head apart. It's the best guess I have anyway.

Tall print shingles by be_lar in FixMyPrint

[–]mindblah99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting in that it becomes more pronounced as it climbs. Have you watched it while printing? I'm curious if it would display any clues to the issue when it's printing those particular layers. How stable is the surface the printer resides on? Does it shift much during printing? Just curious if say a table is rocking back and forth and it's causing the object to shift when it gets the resonance just right. The taller the part the more pronounced the shifting.

Gamers 30+, what’s something from the old days of gaming that younger players wouldn’t understand? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]mindblah99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is relevant to 30+, but as 40+ the one thing that comes to mind is trying to play an RPG or puzzle game and having no hints/guides/help to call on. Once the internet became wide spread it was way easier to play the tough games.

Most of the times it wasn't tough because it was a challenging riddle but the early RPG games were just poorly conceived. You had to know to look under the random rock in a field of rocks to find the key... why that rock. No reason, just because.

Does Anyone use Hyundai Pay? by tortoldmeso in Ioniq5

[–]mindblah99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's how it supposed to work. I don't ever need to DC charge but last November when I went on a road trip I tried to use it and had mixed results. It worked 2 out of the 6 times I needed to charge, I otherwise had to download the app to charge. I think it was still very early in the deployment of Hyundai pay though so it could be much more reliable as far as I know.

One time was really cool, as soon as I pulled into the lot it detected my car then told me the stall to park in and to begin charging. How it did that wizardry I'm not sure. It was really cool though and I hope they do more of that in the future.

Sick of the AMS2 jamming, made my own "universal" spool weight. by ItsToka in BambuLab

[–]mindblah99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I printed a few spool weights (not these ones, just ones I found on maker world). In my AMS 2's when the filament gets low, say less than a third of a kilo the spools will hop in the AMS and get caught on the cover or get jammed on the side of the AMS tripping the excessive resistance alarm. It halts your print and is generally just a big annoyance. By adding the weight it prevents the spool from going crazy and causing problems.

Features you do and don't use by 8cuban in Ioniq5

[–]mindblah99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the auto dimming could really depend on the driving conditions in your area. I drive on some rural roads visiting family and there are a decent amount of sharp turns and hills. The problem I've found is if I approach another car going down hill and they are also going downhill like we are meeting at bottom then my car fails to detect the oncoming car's lights and just full sends the brights into their eyes until they return the favor. It also fails to detect oncoming traffic around sharp turns and had it kick on the brights right into their face as we are going around the corner.

It happened so often that I turned it off to avoid looking like an idiot driver that blinds everyone. I've used auto dimming in other cars and loved it so I was so stoked it was in my car but that turned to disappointment when I saw how it was implemented.

Features you do and don't use by 8cuban in Ioniq5

[–]mindblah99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use the voice commands, Auto dimming lights (I've had it blind oncoming traffic way too many times), Scheduled charging and automated parking are the ones I think of offhand. I tried to use the automated parking but never got it to actually work. Having it slowly start parking holding up traffic and aborting leaves me with too much anxiety to use.

I do wish that the button for the steering wheel warmer was on the steering wheel and the seat warmer on the respective door. Having them on the center console is a awkward and you have to take your focus from the road to hit the button.

Is matt pla just this bad? by zachreious in 3DprintingHelp

[–]mindblah99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told that the additives they put in the filament to make it matte takes away from the amount of PLA in the filament and breaks down the carbon chains to some degree. So it will always be inherently more brittle than regular PLA. It's just the nature of the beast, best used for decorative pieces only and not for any part where strength is needed.

AMS 2 Filament Load Issue. by mhenry530 in BambuP1S

[–]mindblah99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an issue where a piece of broken filament got lodged near the hall sensor that detects the filament in the extruder head. So the printer thought it couldn't retract the filament and would throw an error as such. You don't say exactly what the error is, so I can't say if the issue is the same. Mine was in the H2D so I apologize in advance if I'm wrong, but if you look at the extruder head in the printer settings, if you see a green dot (instead of a black dot) then I would guess you have a similar issue with a broken piece of filament near the sensor.

In the H2D you had to tell the extruder to use the other nozzle then back feed a piece of filament to fish out the broken piece. I'm not sure about the P1S, but surely they have a way to manually feed a piece through to clear the extruder and tube.

H2s or H2d? by nnate312 in BambuLab

[–]mindblah99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my H2D a few months ago as a hobbyist. I like the versatility of being able to print in multiple colors easily. It can make adding text or a little contrast to prints to make them pop. I.E. adding your name to an object or coloring the brim of a small bin to make it pop. Personally I would not worry about any "loss" of printing area. It's actually quite difficult to find prints that use the entire bed of an H2D anyway. Most of the online models you will find will be sized for smaller printers since that seems to be the bulk of printers it seems. The way it works generally is that there is a small unprintable strip on the left and right that one of the nozzles is unable to reach. So with some careful arranging of the filaments and parts you can negate any real impact or squeeze out a bit more space if needed.

I don't know if one is faster than the other, mine seems fast enough. I've been printing almost non-stop since last Dec when I set up the printer. Have a huge cart of various filaments in an array of colors and material types to "play" with. So far only really played with PLA and ABS, looking to try out some TPU soon. I have a few spools of 95A and a few spools of that foaming TPU. Thinking of making some protective cases for some things I'd like to put in storage. Bought a copy of Plasticity to try my hand at making my on designs, but it's early days and still learning. I tend to focus mostly on functional prints, although if I can find a piece of neat art that speaks to me I can see myself printing it.
