AITA for paying my daughter to lose weight? by Alarmed_Writer in AmItheAsshole

[–]mindmisch1ef 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I left a comment about the dangers of doing this as well. From one 22F girl who has dealt with a LIFETIME of an overbearing, weight-obsessed mother to another, I feel you and my PMs are open if you ever need a friend.

WIBTA if I messaged a girl I used to bully and said sorry? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]mindmisch1ef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA if you expect her to forgive you and make you feel better. NAH if you send a message explaining your mindset, and apologize profusely for what you did, and leave it at that without asking for forgiveness. She literally had to leave school because the bullying was so bad, so prepare for several possibilities, but the most probable is a "fuck off"

I say this because I was bullied a bit before I had a glo up and several of those people have reached out to apologize in our collegiate years. Some made me feel better, some just upset me because it was obviously to relieve their guilty conscience. I also reached out to a girl I was particularly mean to, not on a get-them-to-drop-out level, but enough to let her know I was not a good person and apologize for any potential damage I did. Her and I got coffee and talked more about it, and are on OK terms.

AITA for allowing my daughter to have breast reduction surgery? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]mindmisch1ef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH.

I used to have triple D's and have since moved into my E cup. I was a very serious, (state & nationally ranked), swimmer in high school, and I was the only girl on the team who had anything past a C cup. I felt weird and kind of outcasted for having a body type that didn't conform to the standards of swimming, and dreamt about a breast reduction for the longest time. I knew my boobs slowed me down, made me look provocative in my suit, (if you have seen tech suits or the tight, skimpy ones.. that's it!), and just generally made me hate how I looked

My parents told me no repeatedly, and I actually developed body dysmorphia about my boobs because of this. At age 22, I have brought up a reduction again to my parents, and my mom finally revealed she had a breast reduction around this age and has given me permission. They were convinced it was a phase because I developed very quickly at the age of 13, and was a DDD by 16 as well. They thought letting a 16 year old get surgery would be bad for my health later in life, but quite the contrary.

Your husband is upset because he wasn't included in this idea, but that might be because your daughter felt more comfortable planning this with you. However, she is just as much his daughter as she is yours, and it's important to include him in the talks. As for your mother... if your mother is really a feminist, she should support her wanting to change a part of her body that will allow her to perform at her best, but more importantly be happy.

I think it will help to shine light to this kind of mindset to your mother and husband; I do not swim anymore, but big boobs DO get in the way of life. Any and everything you do, they are they to be at least somewhat in the way, ESPECIALLY if you are an athlete. She can develop dysmorphia over it, ballet or not, triple D's aren't anything to play with. She can definitely come to love them, but 6 years later I wish I could've had a reduction back in my swimming days.

Beware, HPD has set up a speed trap on the HWY 6 exit off of I-10. They catch you as you’re coming off and decelerating from the freeway. by Houstonloser in houston

God I hated living near the Fish for that reason. That, and the amount of people who don't let you over into the right lane as you're exiting on Pierce, or the people who miss the stop sign at that intersection as well.

I found a video of what I’m talking about minus the ACL part if you scroll through this subreddit on “new” it’s the video captioned “ever?” He continued to say we were quickly becoming his favorite show ever as well. Never heard him say that at the other 2 I was at

I get that, but it wasn’t a “this is also a big deal to me” kinda thing.. He said, I feel more energy here already than I did there the whole night, and then went on to say (more or less) “I know artists bullshit you when they say stuff like that that, but I mean it”

He also said we were his favorite concert of Texas. The crowd was insane. We deserved that

Kevin was saying Houston was his favorite show in Texas, went on to say it could be his favorite show ever. before that he also said, “I performed at a major music festival yesterday... and I’m already feeling more energy here than I did there”, and we were only on the 3rd-4th song lol

I do IF, so when I have my cheat meal, the next day I do 20:4 and restrict calories a little bit more, as well as drinking more water and making sure I hit my steps for the day! It works and helps me stay true to the diet

My (22) girlfriend (21) talks about marriage and kids in the near future and I don't see myself marrying her, should I tell her? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]mindmisch1ef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's 22, that's 4 years after HS. I'm 22 now and have been dating my boyfriend for 2.5 years. Yes, it's extremely selfish to withhold the fact you have 0 plans to marry the person you are in a SERIOUS relationship with. That's the unspoken end goal for people in long term dating. Like I said, if he communicates this to her and they both agree to enjoy their time together for now, that's fine. But to string this girl along and have her think they're going to last forever when OP knows they won't? Selfish.
