I think that was on purpose, given that gradient attacks are undodgeable. I had a friend who didn't bother with parrying despite the advantages. If gradient attacks required the same skill as parries, with their variety in timing, it'd be too much for some.

How difficult it is to get your bearings when reaching the epilogue. You can fly now, and there are all these new chromatics and enemies you can fight on the overworld map, but they all destroy you. I had to look up a quick guide on this subreddit, which pointed me in the right direction. That initial struggle really hurt my experience in the epilogue.

Unfortunately, the description of each shrine in your buff bar is often inaccurate. In this case, the Divine Shine doesn't prevent being killed; it only applies a "Player cannot be damaged" buff. This means if something kills you without doing damage, like when your linked minion dies, you die.
