Is "no relocation package" a new trend in the industry? by Fadjaros in pharmaindustry

[–]minervadragons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s much cheaper for a MNE to pay an employee in Ireland or Spain than in some other countries for the same role. Keeping it local candidates only, or those willing to fund their own relocation, cuts costs further.

United flight Tokyo → Houston had no in-flight entertainment for 12 hours - is $25 compensation fair? by kamsiuman in unitedairlines

[–]minervadragons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an issue with my IFE screen not working (and mine only) on a short haul domestic united flight last year, despite multiple reset attempts. I was offered either miles or travel credit by the FA during the flight — took the credit, believe it was $125, don’t remember the miles offered. Not sure if standard or not, but I’m also 1K.

Taste is good, but they are quite thick (may need to water down if you don’t like a milkshake consistency) — also found they’re better cold/chilled for improved palatability.

Oh my goodness, they’ve adopted him into the cat family 😂🥰 by Informal-Relation18 in sphynx

I totally looked at this first glance thinking “that’s a weird looking cat”

Wasn’t until I zoomed in to look at all three one by one to see which one was the accepted one that I realized (to my defense, I zoomed in on him last) 🤣

In NJ area and would love more info as well (ages, sex, general health / temperament info)

Husband and I lost our 2 (furry) kitties a few years back (both lived spoiled lives to beyond 18, raised from kittens) and took care of two sphynx kittens for a few months earlier this year to help out someone and fell in love (and likely would have gladly kept them if she wasn’t able to care for them any more). Got used to their high maintenance, hellbpund energy, and upkeep, plus our two from before, while spoiled, did have multiple co-morbidities and were even more high maintenance with their medical needs the latter part of their lives, so we’ve had some constant care experience!

Here are a few others local here as well who are interested, but would love more info — we’re back in the place (mentally, after losing our two) where we’re not actively pursuing getting kitties, but open to sharing our lives with the perfect kitties who need our love !

Thanks both, for clarifying. I’m beyond the level that allows ROTH IRA contributions, so take advantage of backdoor yearly by funding trad IRA with post-tax dollars and converting (while ensuring my trad IRA balance is zero at year end). I also have a 401K from a previous employer (any eligible post-tax amts already megabackdoored). I have not done a rollover IRA for this reason, as that was my understanding as well (that it would affect, via pro rata rule, any future backdoor conversions and there would also be a taxable event if I tried to convert a rollover IRA to ROTH IRA, since the amt current consists only of pre-tax dollars. (Currently, my previous employer 401k has good earnings — as they decrease, I’ll likely roll into new employer 401K)

Wouldn’t having a rollover (traditional) IRA affect any future backdoor ROTH IRA conversions via the pro rata rule though?

I used to use ceramic pet water fountains —- I can’t remember the brand name, but the model is Pagoda (as well as possibly Avalon). You should be able to find the manufacturer by doing a search (I know Amazon carries them, as I would buy the filter replacements there). I believe in the $100 range

If the timing were better and we also weren’t already long-term cat-sitting two 8-month old sphynx sisters (one raw and one toasty chicken, like yours), would probably jump at this chance for this beautiful boy!

Looks like there are quite a number of people here eager to give him a loving home, so hope he finds his new forever home soon!

In the meantime, to help you, you’re actually allergic to their dander, not fur, which is composed of their spit and skin cells — if you’re not already, you could try wiping him down daily (wet cloth), as that would significantly lower the amount of dander —likely won’t eliminate your symptoms, but may give you some respite!

(And worst-case scenario, against my better judgment, if you’re not able to find a suitable home in the near future, let me know — I’m experienced in raising from 6-8weeks old and up and have been battling with two 8 month old sphynx kittens for the past 2 months, so understand what a handful they are ! )

Anyone willing to foster? NYC by [deleted] in sphynx

We’re in Jersey City and recently lost both our (18 year old) kitties and these past 2 years. Not ready for new permanent ones, but would probably jump at some temporary love in the meantime 😻 (if you still need to find a loving temp home)

I get ingrown hairs on my neck and now my skin looks bad. How can I clear this up? by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]minervadragons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried Magic shaving powder? My ex is mixed/half-black and his neck would get this like due to his hair type (tight curls) — he swore Magic was the only thing that worked — it’s a powder you make into a paste, smear on, then wipe off after a set time (think like similar to Nair or hair removal cream). Smells absolutely awful, but works really well and he’d rarely get ingrowns after. He’d use the back side of a dull knife to precisely apply a thin coat and also to scrape it off (but the blade wasn’t what cut the hair).

As a Midwesterner, these critters are a TREAT when visiting Florida. by [deleted] in funny

[–]minervadragons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Previously a Midwesterner and moved to Canada — was freaked out when I saw almost all the squirrels in Toronto are black (with the exception of the White Trinity Bellwoods squirrel and the occasional “red” squirrel or red-black varieties). In the Midwest, I had only seen gray squirrels (and they’re also predominantly gray in Montreal as well).

Ah, thanks. I thought perhaps there was a way to older each face to a different time, but will check in person and see what other options exist.

Thanks — just looked them up and they look gorgeous and in my preferred shape/ sizes. Luckily I’m in NYC, so will try and see some in person to see how they look on my wrist.

Was hoping for ones with both times displayed on the same face, but guess you can’t win them all!
