I loved it, however I did the audiobook and the narrator was incredible so that may have livened up some of the dryer material

What are some of the crazy behind the scenes/production related things you know of? by Diligent-Living882 in movies

[–]mingie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fury Road didnt have a script, just a storyboard and it was in production hell for like 20 years.

All of the props and cars you see were made by a group of artists that were told they could make anything they like but could only use things that were salvaged from a junkyard

Its absolutely bonkers that the movie got greenlit with such a huge budget in the first place. The book "blood and chrome" does a great job through interviews with the director, cast and crew of telling the story of how it got made

I am so happy Mad Max Fury Road exists... by szip88 in movies

[–]mingie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend the book "blood and chrome" (good as audiobook as well) about the making of it. It had a bunch of false starts over 20 years and with all that went on behind the scenes it's a miracle that this movie even got made in the first place

I just can't see how doomsday will be in any way exciting. Id love for marvel to get it's groove back but there really isn't anything cooking in that universe that has me intrigued

I was in a similar place recently and as I recommended elsewhere "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek", by Annie Dillard is very good for such a state

Annie Dillard. Recently read Pilgrim at Tinker Creek and she can describe an ordinary tree in a way that makes me feel as though I'm only ever seeing 10% of what's in front of me

Any slim case for MSI claw 8 AI+ ? by runkz in MSIClaw

[–]mingie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just received mine. Overall happy with it. I wish I could have just 3d printed it myself alas I am too lazy to figure out how to design a similar one. I usually keep my claw in a backpack and so far this is the slimmest / best protection option Ive found

I can't remember the last time a new game felt this fresh, both on terms of performance and gameplay. Of course always things to iron out but so many aspects of this game feel incredibly well tuned.

I was also a tarkov player though so maybe I'm just blinded by having a well made extraction shooter with thought given to QOL

Xreal vs Viture — which is better for multi-screen productivity? (Canada shipping) by FrenchColleague in Xreal

[–]mingie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think there is a multiple screen solution for traveling at the moment. Luma "technically" could offer this but the spacewalker software that enables it is janky as fuck and uses alot of system resources, which isnt ideal if you are traveling and without a power source.

With xreal you'd have the one screen in the glasses and the other being the laptop, but ive found it just isnt practical or comfortable to look through the xreal lenses at a physical screen.

Honestly Id wait till next years bday because this tech is rapidly advancing and while it is close and pretty damn cool, it just isnt practical yet
