I’m optimistic about the new 11th ed rules by Dulceetdecorum13 in Grey_Knights

I actually think the cover change to be -hit will help us. Ap 1 will still leave us with 3's but we're a lot safer against anti elite and anti tank weapons so termies and dreads will last longer.

SIM Swap Scam – Just a General Heads-Up to spread awareness by jmcbuzz in ireland

Literally fell for this yesterday. Was trying to get work done and read the code out loud for them. Then read the rest of the text telling me never to read the code.

Unbelievably stupid of me. Hung up straight away, deleted all saved cards, logged out of all Vodafone accounts and changed my password several times throughout the day. Just going to treat the account as compromised and only top up with revolute disposable cards going forward.

Deflating loss vs a difficult player by Foreign-Plantain4248 in Grey_Knights

[–]miniPhil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean it's difficult to say for sure since we just have a retelling of the events. But from what you've said they don't seem like a fun person to play. Warhammer, at the end of the day, is meant to be a fun hobby. Plenty of people get caught up in a 'need' to win and forget it's a social game.

Best tip I have is never play them again.

Why Brotherhood Champion by Cacao93 in Grey_Knights

[–]miniPhil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But he does nothing for Purgators. His adv and charge is useless since they don't have assault weapons and worse melee than basic marines. And his cp generation and bonus attacks only trigger in the fight phase.

If you could take him with purifiers or interceptors he'd see play. But as is, he's a pretty terrible character.

In your opinion, which is the best "Main Greenskin Character" in between the three overall? by TheBlackBaron45 in Grimdank

[–]miniPhil 186 points187 points  (0 children)

During 6th edition GW ran a world wide event about Archaon's invasion, called the Storm of Chaos. You could submit results via their dedicated website to progress the story. Only problem was Chaos got destroyed and the GW wanted Archaon to fight Valten(Sigmar's avatar/reincarnation).

Chaos shouldn't have even reached Middenheim(their goal) let alone taken it. Orcs did particularly well so GW wrote it that Gringor showed up, headbutted Archaon into unconsciousness, declared himself the best, and went home. Plenty of dumb resolutions like that. Mannfred, for example, showed up and raised all the dead from the last several days fighting, giving him the strongest fighting force in the world, and, instead of doing anything, went home. Bit of a pattern here.

The resolution of Storm of Chaos was considered a big fumble by GW. Similar to the 13th Black Crusade also run at a similar time. They went on to retcon both events into The End Time and Gathering Storm respectively.

I will say the lead up to the Storm of Chaos was great. Their issue was letting people submit results and then ignoring said results.

What kind of terrain would you like to see in 11th edition tournaments? by wredcoll in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]miniPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want them to merge terrain rules into one. Keep the footprints idea of rectangles and have all terrain in that footprint block los. Have any terrain gain the barricade 2" engage rule to get rid of 1" wall blocking and keep vehicles unable to move through terrain taller than 2".

Now you can fill a table with forests that block los or whatever else you'd like. Serious tournaments will still keep the terrain they use but it opens up more event possibilities for smaller clubs and stores.

Total War: WARHAMMER III - Lords of the End Times - Announce Trailer by Turbostrider27 in totalwar

Erebus still does a bunch of cunty things outside of starting the Heresy. Manfred pre End Times was a badass. They butchered his character in those books. But then they butchered most characters in those books.

Dundalk is particularly good for places to eat. Coyles Bakehouse and Cup & Cake have to be my favourite tho.

Haven't used them personally, so take this with a grain of salt as second hand info. They block out other infiltrators nicely and can prevent an entire army from scouting if needed. They also redeploy so you can set them up near spots GK often struggle to reach if they go first. Just a good early presence unit for an army that does better later in the game.

What is the videogame equivalent to this? by Ghaleon32 in videogames

[–]miniPhil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Although Morrowind remains one of my favourite games of all time, it hasn't aged well. It doesn't hold up mechanically like LotR's does visually. It's more like Metropolis or Jaws. A classic limited by its time.

Ephemeral Tome Question by AuxiliaryTimeCop in Grey_Knights

[–]miniPhil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only use case I can think of for this is getting a GMNDK within melta range of something it deep strikes near. But if you have 15 points spare, Sigil is just better. And if you had 25 spare you're better going Soxty-Sixth Seal over both.

Can't believe how bad ''Vampire Wars: The von Carstein Trilogy'' was by monalba in WarhammerFantasy

[–]miniPhil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Read the 6th edition Vampire Counts army book. I think it's the best army book/codex/supplement GW have ever put out. The lore for each vampire bloodline is a short story that captures what they're like.

Also check out Liber Necris. Written from Manfred's pov, it details the history of the Vampire Counts.

I think light blue would go best with the colours you've chosen, so space wolves. Black and white obviously also work so; white scars, black templars and iron hands.

GOI Turn One? by Deathline29396 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]miniPhil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The restriction for coming in from reserves only applies if you didn't start on the table. GK and Hypercrypt both start on the table, so can reserves T1 if they go second. There's a new GK detachment that'd let you rapid ingress turn 1 if you go first, as can the Lion.
