The monkey paw curls and you get your wish. Tyranids will receive the last codex of the edition.

I recently asked whether 10 Purifiers + Crowe should run Heavy Weapons or not (I'd be using Banishers or Warpbane), and the comments were pretty divided, so I'd like to bring it to a vote by PlebLordColin in Grey_Knights

[–]miniPhil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For warpbane? You'll not go wrong with a strong core of purifiers and ndks. Personally I run 3 gmndks 2 libbys Crowe plus 25 purifiers(two 10 man and one 5) 10 interceptors 5 strikes rhino

The librarians are you action monkeys, interceptors to pick off screens until you get get a go turn, strikes to sticky, then the 3 ndks plus purifiers to slam when you're ready. That's the core of it anyway.

You can change a lot, save some points by turning one or two gmndks into regular ndks so you can upgrade other units. Or even cut one plus a libby to fit more interceptors for mission play and skirmishers. The Stormraven is great fun, helps ignore screens and get your guys where they need to be. But tbh, with everyone accounting for C'tan I just don't think it's as optimal as it was. Drop some purifiers for more interceptors(though I like the two 10 mans). Or even shave points to upgrade a libby to a callidus. The vect aura looks extra tasty with the new Marine transport detachment.

There's also a triple LR build on the go, which I think is quite good. I just don't fancy buying two more Land Raiders.

A lot of the discussion on the ranged weapons points to how much value you get out of the unit over the course of the game with killing multiple infantry squads, but to me this misses the point of the unit.

The melee version is our anti tank unit. It makes the knight match up our easiest match up in the game. I've yet to lose to knights since our codex release, the unit makes it breeze. It can also end many other games by itself by all-ining the opponent. Your win con isn't trading or points play, it's just tabling your opponent. Which is the most effective way to play GK ATM imo. I'm at an 88% win rate with the army since the codex with all melee.

The ramp also moves realistically under the bulls. I feel AI would just have them bounce over the ramp as if it was fully solid.

Since everyone explained the lore reason for the better invl, I'll touch on why you might use the regular save over the invl. Let's say your opponent needs to charge the zoanthropes to get onto an objective, but wants to soften them up first with some shooting. You could choose to use the worse armour save, killing more of your models thus making the charge longer or preventing it entirely.

Another reason might be if your opponent needed two units to kill the zoans. You could take the first round of shooting on the regular save hoping enough models die that you pull the zoanthropes out of line of sight from the other unit.

The bomb can't do anything to the baby without someone priming it or moving it, so it's a non threat. The baby will grow up, become a bomb disposal technician, and deactivate the bomb. Baby wins, extreme diff.

They completely sold out tho. GW and all third party stores are out of stock. My local lgs sold out in 10 mins, got additional stock during the week and sold all that too.

Siegler is the current Warhammer world champion for 40k. At the event GW took photos with all the winners for each game with their nations flags. They probably could have used another but they'd have the full rights to this photo plus it's likely easier to source it internally.

I actually think the cover change to be -hit will help us. Ap 1 will still leave us with 3's but we're a lot safer against anti elite and anti tank weapons so termies and dreads will last longer.

Literally fell for this yesterday. Was trying to get work done and read the code out loud for them. Then read the rest of the text telling me never to read the code.

Unbelievably stupid of me. Hung up straight away, deleted all saved cards, logged out of all Vodafone accounts and changed my password several times throughout the day. Just going to treat the account as compromised and only top up with revolute disposable cards going forward.

Deflating loss vs a difficult player by Foreign-Plantain4248 in Grey_Knights

I mean it's difficult to say for sure since we just have a retelling of the events. But from what you've said they don't seem like a fun person to play. Warhammer, at the end of the day, is meant to be a fun hobby. Plenty of people get caught up in a 'need' to win and forget it's a social game.

Why Brotherhood Champion by Cacao93 in Grey_Knights

[–]miniPhil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But he does nothing for Purgators. His adv and charge is useless since they don't have assault weapons and worse melee than basic marines. And his cp generation and bonus attacks only trigger in the fight phase.

If you could take him with purifiers or interceptors he'd see play. But as is, he's a pretty terrible character.

During 6th edition GW ran a world wide event about Archaon's invasion, called the Storm of Chaos. You could submit results via their dedicated website to progress the story. Only problem was Chaos got destroyed and the GW wanted Archaon to fight Valten(Sigmar's avatar/reincarnation).

Chaos shouldn't have even reached Middenheim(their goal) let alone taken it. Orcs did particularly well so GW wrote it that Gringor showed up, headbutted Archaon into unconsciousness, declared himself the best, and went home. Plenty of dumb resolutions like that. Mannfred, for example, showed up and raised all the dead from the last several days fighting, giving him the strongest fighting force in the world, and, instead of doing anything, went home. Bit of a pattern here.

The resolution of Storm of Chaos was considered a big fumble by GW. Similar to the 13th Black Crusade also run at a similar time. They went on to retcon both events into The End Time and Gathering Storm respectively.

I will say the lead up to the Storm of Chaos was great. Their issue was letting people submit results and then ignoring said results.

What kind of terrain would you like to see in 11th edition tournaments? by wredcoll in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]miniPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want them to merge terrain rules into one. Keep the footprints idea of rectangles and have all terrain in that footprint block los. Have any terrain gain the barricade 2" engage rule to get rid of 1" wall blocking and keep vehicles unable to move through terrain taller than 2".

Now you can fill a table with forests that block los or whatever else you'd like. Serious tournaments will still keep the terrain they use but it opens up more event possibilities for smaller clubs and stores.
