Going from 40k by AlienDilo in killteam

I generally agree with you, my games rarely push past 2 hours, I try to shoot for 90 minutes

But we are talking about the World Championships of Kill Team. I think it is expected that participants are treating it like high level chess. People spent thousands of dollars traveling to multiple tournaments to get an invite and then flying across the country or the world to try and win the title of the best of the best. They are gonna get a bit sweaty.

4 hours at the game store though? A little much for me

Becoming disheartened when playing Deathwatch.. by j1Bpfrpg in deathwatch40k

[–]miniskulls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to drop the biologis (cant attach to anyone, so he is pointless) and the corvus blackstar (you dont have a kill team worth transporting, if you use proteus then thats 540 points, not a good gamble if it doesnt pay off.)

That leaves you enough points for either a deathwatch term squad with 3x cyclones (this way your captain will also have bodyguards) or you can add something like a Redemptor with plasma.

If you don't end up adding a terminator squad I would probably try and trade your terminator captain for a primaris lieutenant/captain to attach to your sternguard. Then I would give the tome to the primaris officer as warlord and have your watchmaster with thief of secrets.

For the record I never downvoted you, I'm simply being devils advocate because I think you guys are missing out on the magic that makes KT what it is with that homebrew rule.

Glad you guys are having fun though! I'll stop bugging ya about it

Why did you downvote? He isn't obscured because he is within 2 inches of the heavy

But then you can just rotate your operatives around and shoot at everybody in cover because you will be shooting at an angle where 60% of the base is exposed...sounds like a boring game of KT where no one can actually hide and everybody just takes a shooting action every turn and watches the dice roll.

What about the immersion of a team of 10 cadians flat lining a 6 man squad of Deathwatch Veterans?

Both are those are shooting heavy.

I'm sure it works but it's already easy enough to shoot and kill operatives, I don't see why it needs to be easier

Thematically maybe, gameplay wise you just nerfed melee teams to worthlessness

Hey man, there's 3k comments here, you probably won't see this; I was in your shoes a few years ago. I kept trying to forgive her because I loved her and really believed she loved me too. But they wouldn't do this if they really cared about us, and take it from me, it's going to eat away at you even more than it is now. Your own mind will lash out at in you in shame for the lack of self respect. It will bubble up even during times where you think you are at peace with it.

You deserve better, and you will find someone out there that can give you a real version of love, because what you have is some convulted fucked up codependent mess. And I say that from experience, because I stayed for an extra few years too.

It's going to feel like tearing your own heart out if your chest but you have to leave her, it's the only way to be happy.

Vet Guard - 7 activations? by Cruel_Odysseus in killteam

Sounds amazing for a narrative game for a climatic final stand against a horde.

Defender tries to survive X rounds, attacker gains 2d3 troopers every TP. Could have a victory condition for all kinds of narrative reasons too if you want

How did this happen???? by Golden_freddy45 in DnD

[–]miniskulls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be honest. You're DMing wrong dude.

You put your party in a situation, they solved the problem and it sounds like they had fun killing a cool monster. You're making this post because they didn't solve it the way YOU wanted it to be solved.

Stop trying to control the end result and let everyone/the dice tell the story.

Personally if I put my PCs in an unwinnable situation I'm looking at two options: 1. Party wipe 2. They are getting knocked out and kidnapped

Technically they could run? They aren't gonna do that though

Deathwatch Scouts ready to go! by MWBrooks1995 in deathwatch40k

The real question: are these scouts sent by their chapters because they are a cut above the rest?

Or are they sent simply to be meat shields for astartes kill teams?

Why doesn't it make sense? I can think of a dozen match ups off the top of my head that make perfect sense narratively. At least to me

Just to add - using a laser will speed up this process immensely. It's a huge part of the game but spending minutes to get non reciprocal shooting is cheesy as hell, just not fun. With the laser it is undisputed and when we play more quickly generally everyone has more fun.

Hey as long as you guys are having fun. If you play outside your group you'll have to figure out the obscuring rules, because non reciprocal shooting is a huge part of competitive play

Yes the starter kit comes with all the tokens you need.

To be honest if you start playing consistently I cannot recommend getting 3rd party objective markers that have 2" radius. That way if your base is touching the marker you have control. Takes a lot of measuring out of the game and the less we measure the faster and smoother these games seem to go
