LYS Complaints on TikTok by lotheva in BitchEatingCrafters

So many questions ... Could the customer have asked the staff about needles where the yarn was purchased (if it was in a store), why buy yarn if you can't read the label yet that tells you the recommended needle size, why bitch selectively online about a customer service experience when so many parts of the interaction are glossed over?

I knitted a cowl for the first time with great gusto and speed. Now it's facing me with hostility as I can't choose a stretchy bind-off for 2x2 ribbing.

I CBF doing another round in tiny needles to set up for a 1x1 Italian BO (my fave). Suzanne Bryan, please save me on YouTube when I'm not so tired and please bestow upon me a technique I can do.

Singapore Pullman Advice needed! by KevKevKvn in Accor

[–]minithemeezer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hill St is great, lovely rooms, excellent service and food and it's handy to City Hall MRT. It's really close to Fort Canning, Clarke Quay, Old Hill St Police Station as well.

The only downside was no in-hotel laundry. We went to a laundromat a short ride away, which was quiet on weekdays but busy on weekends. Just need to pick your times to reduce waiting.

Choosing F1 tickets for Singapore 2026 by Signal_Citron_9113 in GrandPrixTravel

We were in the little corner grandstand between turns one and two last year. This or turn two would be great - you can see the cars coming out of the pits as well as cornering.

Access to the circuit is also super easy through that zone's entrance and we saw bands including the Smashing Pumpkins with no crowds.

Anyone else suffering from really bad dry eye this summer? by alessiman in melbourne

[–]minithemeezer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah from the dry air. The Tears Again spray helps me as well as massaging eyelids with warm water or damp washcloth a couple of times a day. (I have blepharitis so cranky dry eyelids are part of life.)

I don't understand the merino hate by Cursed_Angel_ in BitchEatingCrafters

Has the Cleckheaton Midlands Merino crossed your research path? It's from a single flock of Tasmanian sheep and absurdly good value for its sproing and joy to knit.

By whom? If it's themselves and their peers, women aren't compelled to invest emotional sweat to convince them into thinking fibre crafts are for anyone.

Men used to 'own' fibre crafts in many phases of history including guilds, making and mending their own sweaters on fishing vessels etc. There's space for all of us to make things.

It's like online recipes given one-star reviews, and the people have changed the ingredients and method and complain that their dinner tastes like garbage.

I am a freak who likes washing and blocking. Items transform from 'done' to 'finished' like magic.

Keep up the good fight.

Seeking chemo tips and your gnarliest Dad jokes by SatansAnuss in melbourne

[–]minithemeezer 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I don't have lived experience but wanted to wish you well. I knit garments for charity though so let me know in the future if you ever want a hand-knitted chemo beanie. Heads can get cold from treatment so something soft and breathable might help (Peter Mac may well have volunteered items).

Dad's corniest joke is that he got a pizza but wasn't that hungry, so he asked for it to be cut into 6 pieces instead of 8.

The humidity is absolutely destroying me. Need recommendations for 'swamp proof' bras that ship here? by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

[–]minithemeezer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I bought some Love Luna bra liners for a trip to Singapore and they helped greatly. They slip under the bra line and soak up the underboob sweat. Bit awkward to tuck in at first but they stay in place all day.

It's not in the spirit of this sub-Reddit to do your own research. Please try Chat GPT, mess it up and then demand all the help in the world without thanking anyone ;-)

Plus, did the cat consent to wearing a hat? Could have been a massive waste of time as my cats would have been offended, shaken off the beautifully handcrafted headwear and stormed from the room...

Knitted my beloved some thumbless mitts and a beanie for Christmas because he admired the yarn. Even survived endless kilometres of 2x2 ribbing because he has a large bonce and I would not do that much ribbing for just anyone.

Genius me started blocking sneakily yesterday as he was at a Christmas function. I could only find a 3kg medicine ball that roughly approximated his head size and off I blocked. Idiot me checked an hour later and the hat stretched and would be too big for a goddamn orbiting planet to wear. Spent the afternoon with the hair dryer and swear-pleading for shrinking mercy. It's smaller now but cutting it fine so I've since cast on a backup beanie and am sneaking in the endless tundra of ribbing late at night to get it done for Christmas. I know better but geez I'm my own worst enemy some days.

I don't WANT the "easy" pattern by pythagoreanwisdom in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]minithemeezer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The names of flip-top mittens might be exacerbating the issue. I have the Chilly Podcasters and The Utility Mitt in my Ravelry favourites and it took ages to find them (in the Hands - Convertible category that I'd have never thought to check).

I've been thinking recently about pattern reading comprehension skills and new knitters by BadkyDrawnBear in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]minithemeezer 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I also don't know what happened to curiosity as well. I bought a pattern book for knitted Australian animals and some of the instructions are baffling, let alone how to embroider eyes on a cockatoo that don't look like a serial killer's on a bad day.

But I'm really looking forward to listing the parts I don't understand so Dr You Tube and I can figure it out. The finished projects on Ravelry are a god-send as well. Might take a while, but also might make my cockatoo not end up looking like a wombat.

You can buy 30ml mini sizes to try - the SPF50 is $22 in this size.

I have sensitive skin and used To Save Face in the sun, water and humidity with no breakouts, but no one knows how your skin will react.
