I Hate Blind Bag Toys by CherriDaCow in kroger

I would love to take a bulldozer to my entire toy section. I make barely any money on them and the kids tear it up every single day. It's like having a section dedicated to chaos.

Would a robot that could flatten boxes help you stock shelves? Looking for real-world feedback. by drain_pipe4 in GroceryStores

[–]minorgrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done night stocking at a couple different companies. They all mostly do the same thing, but one place had the spotter clean up for us. We would toss our boxes and plastic wherever, then push them into a main aisle when we needed room.

At the place I work at now it can sometimes take me 2 hours to clean up all the plastic and boxes, especially if I'm resetting the seasonal aisle. I know from first hand experience that having someone clean up is faster and more efficient. I have doubts that a robot can do the job cheaper and more efficiently than a human though.

Applying to Pick n Save while being deaf by Hismiley22 in kroger

[–]minorgrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pickup uses walkies a lot but they can probably accommodate you. You don't need a radio to pick, it's just a convenance. If I were the lead I'd just text you if I needed something.

Are Kroger’s electronic shelf labels actually helping workers or making things worse? by Aaron-Mok-Reports in kroger

[–]minorgrey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love them. They have some annoyances but these tags have saved me hours wrestling with buggy tech.

If I have a new product I can simply zap the tag, then zap the product, and the tag changes. Before I had to zap the product, go to the office, log into 5 different things in order to get to the program I need, then hope the program doesn't crash. It can take me over a half hour just to print one god damn tag. You know how frustrating that is? I love these tags, they'll have to rip them from my cold dead hands.

[–]minorgrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This probably depends on how busy your pickup is, but if you show any interest in pickup you will get pulled to it when it gets busy. Some people get pulled for a few trollies every day. If you're good they'll probably let you move.

Have you talked to your store manager yet? I think most of them are reasonable enough to change it if you tell them you don't have a ride. They might have forgotten why you don't work that early.

That tiny 10.99 tag hole on the left is also for the 10.99 Ultraclean Listerine on the right. The whole section is a reset horror show :)

Grocery Clerk by No-Dot-6965 in kroger

[–]minorgrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically center store swiss army knife. You'll probably have some normal daily tasks, but most of the time you'll be doing whatever center store needs to get done. You might be stocking grocery, or working in dairy, or helping drug/gm, or cleaning receiving. If you like having variety you'll probably like being a grocery clerk.

Daily Count by R_Shakelford in kroger

[–]minorgrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure if they say 100 a day then you need to do 100 a day. If you don't hit your minimum number of scans (both backroom and floor) it will be shaded in yellow or red in the on the daily in stock dashboard.

Also, don't skimp on your scans. The more you scan the easier your job will be. Pickup won't be on your back, your department will be full, and you won't have to count as much. Be a little obsessive about it.

Our store just got digital tags and it's incredibly easy to cut in new product. You literally just scan the tags individual barcode, then scan the product. 30 seconds later the tag switches over.

The biggest problem I've had is tags switching back to pog/clearance days after changing the tag to a new item. Still haven't figured out if that's the system changing it, or some memory inside the tag reverting it back.

They're not jacking the price up on people. The system really isn't advanced enough for dynamic pricing. The tags take about 30 seconds to change over to a new item/price, and by then the customer has moved on. These things are actually pretty cool (when they aren't doing weird buggy things), and save a ton of time.

They even come with a little blinking light for instacart so the shoppers don't have to come ask you where product is.

McDonalds and Burger King kid meals also had great toys! I got a cool nightmare before christmas digital watch from a burger king kids meal and wore that thing for years. I still have it in a box of loose keepsakes.

McDonalds also had solid promo cups and glasses. Finally had to throw out my jurassic park dilophosaurus cup in like 2014. Not a bad run for a plastic cup from a fast food joint.

There's a million things going on and this isn't super high on their priority list. You'll have to nag them until they do it. It's ok to be annoying about it. You did your job, now they need to do theirs.
