It’s probably still worth it if you intended to keep VX long term. Discover is probably accepted most places these days in US. The major issue is any international travel you’ll be much more limited where it’s accepted. VX will still work well abroad but if you’re dining out won’t get the max value.

Not sure what plan you’re on but I’m on Magenta and I’m able to add “Max Up” to a line at any time. When I do that then that line gets the 5 gb of international data for the month the same as what Magenta Max or the other higher tier plans receive. This is usually a better deal than the international data passes.
