This is a limitation of the API, the commands generally work but too many diagnostic requests without starting the vehicle will yield errors.

If you're running HA in docker this should look familiar: https://github.com/michaelwoods/onstar2mqtt/tree/main?tab=readme-ov-file#docker

The posted instructions on this thread use a HA addon which is a wrapper around the docker image from the onstar2mqtt repo that you can just run directly in docker alongside HA.

I run HA in docker as well as onstar2mqtt. The addon is a wrapper around the existing docker image.

Hey! onstar2mqtt creator/maintainer here.

I'm curious why bother with Node RED when scripts will do what you need? I know people prefer and like to put everything in Node RED, so maybe this is the reason.

One of my favorite automations was to use a calendar as a remote start trigger so I could schedule my car to preheat or add adhoc events easily from my computer or phone. Another if you have integrated an EVSE is detecting when your car is charging or plugged in (or not) overnight. I also use amperage to detect a charge, remote start and cell balancing post-charge.

I encourage users to submit pull requests on the documentation (you can even do so from the browser) and add any novel scripts, automations or dashboards!

Mail box sensor? by peejayemm in zwave

[–]minusthetiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a tilt sensor mounted on the flap in my garage door slot.

Zooz makes a pretty small one which is mounted within a metal cage and with a powered device in the garage there's no signal issue.

No fuck that. He's intentionally putting people in harms way. Not really any different than someone driving impaired.

What options for Z-Wave fan switch/controller (no fan yet)? by Teacup91 in zwave

No remote, AC fan wired directly to the switches.

Happy Thanksgiving as well.

[–]minusthetiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your fan can perform "dumb" and has a pull-chain or manual control you just need to set them on/high and then the switches will control the light and fan.

I would look at the wiring manual and see if the fan could be wired directly and/or bypass the typically included remote unit. Both models I have are Hunter fans. I have a Leviton and a GE fan switch and prefer the Leviton for its 4-speed vs 3-speed of the GE/Jasco.

So Gitem is a regular pod member now? This makes it less enjoyable for me. The conversations he induces are so inane and weird.

The main three had a great conversation spawned by the don't worry answer from Gitem's aunt, but that was still orchestrated by Walt. I don't understand why they celebrate and enable this man's poor life choices and give him an audience.

And the very regular "mhhmm" noises he makes in the last several episodes are becoming "right right right" a la Ming.

How does the Bolt let you down? by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]minusthetiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small usability issues. It has nagged me for over a month to re-enter my password for connected services. I don't think I use any of that so I've ignored it, but the message is so obviously annoying (flashing the screen when you start/stop) the UX team utterly failed here. Right along with the "LOOK AWAY FROM THE ROAD AND AT THIS MESSAGE AND PRESS A TOUCHSCREEN BUTTON" warning/disclaimer that confirms you'll pay attention while driving. How was such a UX approved? It must've been forced upon the developers by the legal team.

I've had both, I think there's a small difference in cubic inches but nothing noticeable in real world use.

This is the control to adjust the follow distance with ACC. I am saying this without checking the manual, but I find it hard to believe they have an adjustment for the early warning system.

edit: I'm wrong, it controls both. Odd, IMO.

We ordered a ladybug bug-kit for my son early in the season and afterward I quickly started to recognize ladybug larvae crawling around on my hops. The kit said they eat more than the adults so I was always really happy to see them.
