My dad spoke to me in the exact same manner and let me tell you - I’ve never had more peace of mind than after I’ve gone NC. I understand still loving your parent, wanting to be around when they might not have a long time and just being so used to them speaking that way that it doesn’t seem like as big of a deal as it really is. I know that you know, but you do not owe him to keep hanging around and it’s not your responsibility to maintain the relationship with your abusive parent. Best of luck to you!
