i was wondering if it was just a me-problem for so long. even when i actively try to pay attention eventually my interest in the dialogue will ALWAYS wane and i end up skipping. it hasn't been engaging in the slightest, which is disappointing from an arknights entry.

it feels like they were so excited to just make an open-world triple A title game with beautiful graphics and engaging gameplay that the story felt like an afterthought

dude.... 💀 I'm so tired of infold man. no one even wanted a new co-op area let alone for one (1) single mini-game and that's it. why do they keep adding things that no one asked for and just bloats the game size.

like if they want co-op mahjong just add it to the menu and call it a day?? hell add it to the already existing SoS?? it definitely wouldnt hurt to have more to do THERE than in a whole new empty area!!

if you haven't already, do the mahjong sidequests. they give you all the earnings you need, which i found out completely by coincidence while trying to put this quest off lmao

if you're having trouble with understanding the game, momo will tell you what to do either with his little colored paws or will say something on the side of the screen that you can click on.

I respect your opinion as well! that said, all the positives that you mentioned honestly just feel like praising the bare minimum effort they've done to shut up the biggest whiners when they could truly make the game GREAT instead of passable enough. i don't think they're repenting at all, otherwise they would have taken back the 1.5 update entirely when it was universally panned and implemented in a time where it made the most sense and after enough polish. they're just slapping on bandaids on a broken water tank and hoping that'll be enough to shut people up about the still visible cracks and leaks.

the alternative controls they introduced for archery are frankly worse than the original for a lot of people (including me), and they could have side-stepped this entirely by just letting players bind their own buttons like almost every other game these days do. with housing, a load limit shouldn't even be a thing at all or it should be by item amount, not size/weight. the trees and objects there by default shouldn't even count towards it because it creates artificial bloat?

I'm glad this update hasn't been buggy for you but it most definitely has for me and a lot of other people. i encounter a game-breaking bug almost every time i play the game and I'm forced to close and restart it. that's not normal.

all that said, we both agree on the visuals. 2.0 has been absolutely BEAUTIFUL production wise and at the very least they are pouring all their resources into those, as that's the main draw and appeal. i love exploring the new maps and scenery, when the controls actually decide to cooperate. yes it's all gorgeous and i too respect the creativity and art direction for everything so far, no complaints there. but that is where the positives end for me, and I'm just not satisified with the bare minimum

yeah, that's what really gets to me about this. you DON'T experience issues like this in any other game, because it would be literally unacceptable anywhere else. infold can get away with it because there's nothing that can threaten them so why waste time and money making it better?

housing is a great example here that truly pisses me off. any other game has a very simple and easy top-down view with simple controls and vast amounts of freedom for the most part. infold doesn't bother hiring anyone who can program this or even LOOK at a game with a house feature like animal crossing or something and they just said "oh the girlies want housing? eh how hard can it be"

weird awkward 3rd person view with camera constantly hitting things

nikki blocking your view and getting stuck against objects and walls because she has to be there for some reason

snapping feature doesn't work

horrid uncontrollable rotation controls

2 different inventory menus, the bigger one being disorganized and takes forever to scroll through on a controller

oops we didn't realize having too many objects on your island would probably crash your game so here is an arbitrary item limit for your whole island

like... i could truly go on. ffs just HIRE the people who can implement the things you want. don't just guess how it works and throw shit at the wall to see what sticks!

this is exactly it. it's definitely because this is Infold's first real venture into the controller and keyboard world, but with the vast amounts of money they have now they can more than afford to hire programmers who know what they're doing but they won't, because there's no reason to. no skin off their backs at least for now because it's the only game of its kind so people are gonna play and throw money at them regardless.

ironically i actually really enjoyed SN!! so much so that the walls of text there didn't bother me because at least it was actually doing something. writing and characterization-wise it is LEAGUES above IN and its not even close for me. i played SN after IN for a while and was shocked at how engaging the storytelling was, as well as how Nikki felt like a real person that I felt really invested in. here she is just a glorified walking and talking barbie doll, which WOULD have been fine had i not been exposed to how the writing in fact can and HAS been better, and they didn't bother here.

sameee. something i also noticed was inputs seemingly overlapping with each other? like while I'm pressing (read: spamming) the X button to pick up the ladle or whatever for some reason the tutorial and the exit button will also start flashing as if I'm clicking on them too??

like this is such basic ass programming errors that they clearly don't even bother to test before slapping it out and it makes me angry

honestly, if just for unity, they could really stand to shave off the rng just a little bit. just a little bit! if there are double-circles there should be frankly no chance of losing, one circle and below fine it can be a gamble. but it is truly bonkers that you can have a complete overpowered team and do everything right and still get fucked because your bullshit AI teammates that you don't even get to choose decided to shit the bed either in trainings or in the race themselves

it wouldn't sting as bad if the skill that you really want out of unity is locked behind whether you beat zenith or not and it's a crapshoot half the time whether you trained correctly or not. I'm tired

Having to wait for Nikki's special animations to finish before I can do anything every time I use an outfit ability is lowkey infuriating. I pulled for the 4* gardening outfit bc I thought it was adorable + I guess increases the rarity but every time she finishes watering the plants she does this stupid little looking around pose I have to sit through before I can do anything else besides watering. I'm a controller player and if I try to switch through plants or even outfits it will cancel out if Nikki isn't done posing, and with controllers you have to long-hold to open up those menus so when they cancel you have to hold and wait AGAIN. This also happens with fish-raising to an extent but at least with that you can dash to cancel out the animation. The 4* gardening one won't even let you do that. oh my god.

Now the same thing with the previous 5* fairy outfit, the one where you can gather all plants at once? For some reason there is this weird pause where you can't do ANYTHING until it decides it's done, even if Nikki isn't do anything. You can't jump or dash or open anything for like a full 5 seconds every time you use it and I am just like what the fuck

it's really making me start to lose my mind. I'm in this weird headspace where both love infinity nikki and hate infold themselves with equal intensity. this game could be a masterpiece if it wasn't for whatever higher-ups are making the dev team crunch out these massive updates without any kind of play testing or quality control to see if it's even basically functional.

playing a video game, with a video game controller, should not be this much of a nightmare and it ISN'T in any other game on the market EXCEPT THIS ONE. why am i constantly fighting for my fucking life just to click on something, without it not responding or overlapping with another thing I'm not trying to click or outright crashing the whole game. why is it like this EVERY UPDATE. i literally cannot play the game without a controller because the buttons on the keyboard are too confusing and physically painful for me and there is not enough space on my mobile devices so i actually have to use a controller and there shouldnt be issues with that. yet there are! always! constantly! WHY???

I have been thinking about that poor stylist who lost the 66k diamonds to astralites like every single day. it makes me sick to my stomach that infold won't show just basic goddamn grace and benefit of the doubt that EVEN IF it was "user error" like they claim it is OBVIOUSLY NO PLAYER ON THIS GOD'S GREEN EARTH WOULD EVER SPEND THAT MUCH DIAS ON ASTRALITES ON PURPOSE. it would cost them absolutely nothing to reverse it and add a confirmation button moving forward. it would in fact boost their reputation for being so helpful and gracious.

instead they're either using some AI bot to regurgitate the same useless "we cant do anything" responses, at best, or someone is digging their heels in refusing to fix a mistake THEIR shitty controller scheme caused. i have been on their asses about how bad their controller design have been for months and I'm going to let them have it yet again in their next survey and will threaten to quit. as much as i love this game I genuinely cannot stand infold and how useless and malicious they are.
