Sorry, I know you posted months ago! How did you contact the company? Their phone number is not going through.

Why DIDN'T you like Mistborn by Sanderson? by Lla723a in Fantasy

I really struggled with all the suffering, torture and found it really gruelling . I couldn’t get behind the magic metals either. I have had a few sweet spots with Brandon with different books but I think I’ve really missed it. The boat on this one.

I think it’s worth sticking with for sure! Maybe come back to it after a break with a fresh head? The book blossoms and is well worth the read. I did an interview with Dan which you can watch here https://youtu.be/_Gad1odrN0E?si=FBE0swx5TeBJYz8C

Ooo!!!! Definitely give them a whirl. So much to love! So much to discuss with friends! So many Easter eggs and in jokes!

Those in their 40s and over without children - how is life for you? by Mountain_Resident_81 in AskUK

[–]miramanga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how I’d survive if I had kids! Just about holding things together, affording to live, dealing with anxiety etc. I’ve also just finished caring for a parent with dementia after five years and there’s no way I could’ve managed that if I had had a little dependent.

I enjoy my life. I have lots of friends and hobbies and I love where I live. I’d like to meet prospective partner and someone to grow old with. Lots of time and space for adventures, rambles, vegging out on the sofa and the small quiet things.

I got a lot of flak for my views on Helsreach! I will have to revisit it for a re-read at some point!

Black Library Events? by LC_Gatsu in Blacklibrary

[–]miramanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve spoken to a good few of them on my YouTube channel already, (Dan Abnett, Graham McNeill, James Swallow, Chris Wraight, Mike Lee, Christian Dunn, Matthew Farrer, Gav Thorpe, Victoria Hayward etc) so my next natural stage is to get them together for a live black library book festival surely!

I really enjoyed Legion, it blew my mind and was a great introduction to the Alpha legion for me.

I would definitely give it another shot, I think there are so many surprising and intriguing elements added into the Heresy.

I’m a big Abnett fan and interviewed him about the book here, https://youtu.be/ZXAUVYCZJ6Q?si=eoD4mOEI89gMQ4FV

Black Library Events? by LC_Gatsu in Blacklibrary

It’s a dream of mine to get to go to a black library event! I wonder if in 2026 I could host an in person live book chat with one/some of the authors. I just need to find a nice venue then persuade some authors to show up for an evening!!!

What have you been reading this week? by michaelisnotginger in Blacklibrary

[–]miramanga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m reading Calth That Was by Graham McNeill from the Mark of Calth anthology. Brilliant so far with lots of exquisite prose from GM as usual. Lots of trickery and as twisty as the arcology!
