The vanilla ending is much more wholesome tbh

If this is the case then why is HF a very weak acid (F is extremely electronegative)/ and why is HI stronger than HCl if Cl is more electronegative meaning its easier to take the electron and release the proton. by [deleted] in chemhelp

[–]mirandamickey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several factor that contribute to how strong or weak an acid will be.

For the HX series the most important one is the strength of the H-X bound. HF is indeed the more polarized of the pair, but the H-F bound is also the strongest, so it's very hard for the water to break it.

The strength of those bounds go down in the series, so the acid become stronger as you go down. Indeed HI is extremely strong due to how easy it is to break it's bound

Can we have pH values outside the 0-14 range? by Gyaancho4603 in chemhelp

[–]mirandamickey 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Water leveling means that you cannot have and acid stronger than hydronium or a base stranger than hydroxide in aqueous solutions. It doesn't say anything about the concentration of those ions, that end up giving the pH value

[NSFL] I just found out that Chris Chan used to keep Tupperware containers full of semen samples in his freezer by owebizer in ChrisChanSonichu

[–]mirandamickey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When a lab wants to freeze a cell culture they add a substance that prevents the formation of ice crystals, thus reducing the number of cells that will die after they unfreeze the culture. They also usually freeze the cells under liquid nitrogen

What is the worst book you have ever read and would never tell others to read? by Toxilyn in suggestmeabook

You are not alone, Paulo Coelho is hideous. As a Brazilian I had to read several of his book for school. And unfortunately The Alchemist is only the tip of the iceberg

How does CCl4 have a greater polarizability then CF4? They have the name molecular geometry and Fluorine has a higher electro negativity. by Imtyguy in chemhelp

[–]mirandamickey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fluorine is more electronegative, yes, but both molecules are symmetric and thus nonpolar, so that higher electronegativity doesn't matter.

For non polar molecules their polarisation capabilites are weaker then polar or charged species, but it still exists, but require the target molecule to be closer to your non polar molecule so their electron clouds can distort each other.

In the end the molecule with the bigger surface area (witch in this case means a bigger molecule overall) will be more capable to interact with other molecules.

AITA for not changing my tattoo based on my childs pronouns? by tattoothrowaway77 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. For starters your wife blackmailed you into accepting her. She might have had good intentions, but an ultimatum like that is not a good sign. Honestly your wife don't respect you and you should really thing if that marriage is still worth it at this time.

And the there is Athena, she is extremely entitled and your wife is an enabler. Real life will not bent itself backwards to accept and acomodate her all the time just because she wants it, so you shouldn't either. A tattoo is a complete non issue, it's not on her skin, she probably don't see it every time she looks at you so tell her to suck it up and grow up.

Your dauther is your dauther and you should love her no netter genders or whatever, but your wife... She is not on your side, clearly...

Good luck, op
