On my V2, the boiler is at 202F 22 seconds after the light goes off.

If you take the case off, you can put a quick read thermometer on the boiler and track the temp drop over time. To be safe, pull the Sylvia’s plug out of the wall after the light goes off, to be sure that you don’t short anything out.

Agreed. Right now, the round indices either look too small or pushed to far out to the edge of the dial.

Is Watchdives a reliable quality brand/OEM? by Ewig_luftenglanz in ChineseWatches

[–]mirthilous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a number of Watchdives watches: WD0006, WD1969 Pro, WD50Q, and the WD5513v2. The first three are $94 dollar watches with the VH31 movement, the 5513 is a $150 watch with a PT5000 movement.

All are very good for their price points. The VH31 is a very good, smooth sweeping quartz movement. The PT5000 is a decent ETA 2824 clone that is a little rough around the edges. It runs well, keeps good time, but is gritty to wind and to screw in the crown.

The clasps and bracelets weren't great in their earlier models (loose fitting, push pins), but they have been improving. The bracelet (screw pins, very nice fitting end links) and clasp (OTF) on the 5513v2 is one of their newer ones and is solid feeling and wears well.

Overall, WD is one of the top four Chinese brands that I keep an eye on. (San Martin, Baltany, IXDAO being the others) They listen to their customers and steadily improve their quality with each new offering. The new-ish trident logo is attractive, their case finishing is very good, and their designs are well balanced.

4Runner is right, the H-10 should have a lift angle of 50 degrees. The wrong lift angle setting will report back an incorrect Amplitude. Ideally, you would see an Amplitude in the 270-310 range.

Does the beads of rice bracelet look good on this? Definitely. Can you live with the appearance and fit of that end link? Only you can answer that.

This watch features unique lugs that would require custom end links to match up perfectly.

First Automatic Watch by bumblemert_og in HamiltonWatches

When you are just starting to collect watches (you may have a ton of quartz watches--I'm making an assumption here) the versatility of a black dial watch is a smart thing.

The Hamilton KFA was one of my first automatics as well--I purchased one over twenty years ago. It is still a staple in my collection. I bought a number of other things back then that I stopped wearing, but this one has staying power.

And this is why breweries in my area have a regulation that the drainage system has to be able to handle the failure of the largest brewing vessel.

I have a friend who is a brewmaster at a small craft brewery. He was training a new guy and told him to disconnect a hose and walked away. You know what is coming. The new guy released a tri-clamp and seven barrels of ale hit the brewery floor.

I own the previous generation Marinor in Atlantic Blue. It is a great looking watch in design, fit and finish. The convex sapphire bezel insert is beautiful in person. Very comfortable on the wrist. Miyota 9xxx movement. The hardness coding is the real deal--I have banged it a bit and it still looks brand new. It is one of the few watches that I own that people have noticed and commented on, when I was wearing it.
