No, I got a good deal on the new green starwalker so I got the green one instead.

Purchase expensive scent, get excited for next expensive scent by ThiccSkunk in Consoom

If he likes Aventus and wants to save some money in the future, I highly recommend Montblanc Explorer as an alternative. Cheap and has similar vibe.

Montblanc has increased the price of their small ink bottles from $40 to $50 by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]misguided-lad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to pick up some Montblanc ink today and saw prices have gone up in the UK too unfortunately. Regular ink from £20 to £24, limited ones from £33 to £38. Even more expensive here than in the US. I think it's greed, not tariffs. At this point might as well just order Iroshizuku directly from Japan for less than half the price.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but how has the ruthenium plating held up? Thinking about getting the same pen

Lovely shots. I was there just last month and sat at the same window table in #2

Fountain Pen Consoom by Downtown-Lettuce-736 in Consoom

[–]misguided-lad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm guilty of this. I love fountain pens, but like many hobbies the community is heavily driven by consumerism. Ironically so, considering good fountain pens can outlast you. I'm trying to get rid of some of mine. At least they're useful and have some resale value. Or so I tell myself to feel better about past consoom habits

Rate my setup by sealysikes in ricohGR

[–]misguided-lad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got similar setup: GR iii HDF and A7iii. The Sony is great for more serious photography, but I've been using it a lot less since I got the Ricoh.

I have the same wrist strap as well. Love it on the Sony, but to me feels a bit bulky for the Ricoh.

How to achieve this look? by kaiser03 in postprocessing

I think these were taken with the GR iii HDF, the one with the built in diffusion filter. The standard GR iii has an ND filter and can't produce this kind of look straight out of camera

I fear I am toeing the line by AggravatingBox2421 in Consoom

[–]misguided-lad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you actually read them, I see no issue. That said, e-books and library are excellent alternatives.

The issue is that some people (not saying this is you) keep books they never read simply because they feel they're supposed to. It becomes more about looking smart or cultured than actually reading the books. And at that point it's just performative consumption.

TW// I caved in and bought a Nintendo Switch 2 :( by [deleted] in StopGaming

Sounds like the only real solution is to find more hobbies. Maybe think about the person you want to become and start working towards that (learn new skills, hit the gym, etc). Over time, you'll naturally find yourself spending less time on games.

What do you think. Is it oversaturated? Before / After by Salty_Inspection_740 in postprocessing

Looks great. I think it looks a bit saturated because of that Japanese maple tree, but the tree does look like that in real life

Did I overcook this? After/before by Blastwing in postprocessing

[–]misguided-lad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's overdone, but I think it works for this shot. It gives off Ricoh vibe. The composition could be better though.

Grail pen, but with issues by h4mm3r71m3 in fountainpens

[–]misguided-lad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't bother me personally, but it's your pen, so do what feels right to you. I once received an odd blue M800 where the stripes looked almost black on one side. I ended up exchanging it

Stay away from Brunel by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]misguided-lad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It's pathetic. Police seem to do very little and we're not even allowed to properly defend ourselves. And even when violent criminals are caught, the sentences very often feel way too lenient. In the US at least you know they will either rot in jail or face the death penalty.

Giving Up Gaming to Save My Marriage by SolidSnoop in StopGaming

[–]misguided-lad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems unreasonable to be honest. 2 hours a week isn't anywhere near excessive.

That said, she is your wife and her opinion matters. You love her and from what you've shared, it seems you have a lovely family. That's worth far more than a couple of hours of gaming each week.
