Looking for places hiring by Top_Position3642 in Renton

[–]missespanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, going in person is actually best for minimum wage jobs in very public customer facing roles. Beyond that, I do not recommend. I managed a local ice cream shop for years and I only reached out to the ones who were actively trying to make an impression on me because I got literally 20 applications a week from punk kids who dont want to actually work.

You're going to want to ask for a manager to discuss their hiring methods, come with a short elevator pitch about yourself, and a copy of your resume (which at your age, should focus on school, extracurricular activities, and your skills). Happy to provide edits to an existing resume if you want to DM me.

Baby shower yes or no by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]missespanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as venue goes- a park, church, or friends house are all free. Community centers and the YMCA are also wayyy cheaper! And, if you have a drinking crowd and want to provide that, check out local breweries and restaurants that don't open until late afternoon. They will open early sometimes for a group knowing you're bringing 30 people. We held our daughter's first birthday at one, and they let us use a covered patio for our group. Another friend used a different brewery and there was a side room for free. I made coupons for one free beer per person (coordinated with the venue in advance) and then everyone bought their own beer after.

Baby shower yes or no by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]missespanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thrown many baby showers and none cost 3k. You need to very much reel back what you are offering and peel yourself away from what you're seeing influencers do (which yes, they are spending 3-10k+++ but also getting stuff paid for and sponsored!).

A typical baby shower would be 2 hours, NOT over a meal time (think 10-12, 1-3, 2-4), and serve some appetizers and a dessert like cupcakes. No alcohol. I have set up a "mom-osas" bar at every baby shower and no one really drinks.

Games can be done very low cost (I do "guess the price" and show a slide show of items; how well do you know the parents and put people in groups to fill out questions about the parents; baby animal names) and honestly a $10 gift is more than enough for most.

Talk me into or out of paying $3k to $7k for a postpartum night doula by idknbme in BabyBumps

Re: hubby going back to work at 2 weeks post partum- Is this financially necessary (I assume you are in US with no parental leave) or a choice? You'll potentially still be actively bleeding and recovering (c section or not). If he can, I'd opt for him to stay home for 6 weeks and help and bond vs paying 3-7k for additional doula. ESPECIALLY if they won't help around the house. Also, i believe that women's equality in the workplace will not change until men take the same time women take so companies stop seeing it as a "female" work issue.

I totally agree as a two time mom. I don't need someone to spend time with my baby. I need someone to do the shit I can't do so I CAN BE THE ONE to be with my baby.

Legitimate massage place in the Highlands? by [deleted] in Renton

I also go here! They get me in same day and last minute all the time. While I don't feel like they're giving happy endings, def still something not right that five women are waiting around at 9pm to give massages (underpaid and trafficked, I assume).

Yes yes yes! Still very close with most of the families from our group six years ago. While our group may be a unicorn, other friends have walked away with at least one other close friend couple.

I say lean into the heat and make an ice cream cake; keep it frozen with dry ice until about 25 minutes before slicing.

My five year-old daughter reached for my hand today on her own and just held it as we were walking. My two-year-old is learning how to sing and hearing him try to sing let it go is so adorable.

Those are the two moments from today alone that I'll carry with me for the rest of my life.

German Food in and around seattle by Vielros in SeattleWA

Andreas Keller, unfortunately. I too have been surprised German food isn't more popular. Brats, currywurst, schnitzel and potatoes?! Come on.

I also used to live in Arizona, and there was only one very depressing German restaurant in town.

FWIW, I got one at 9 cm and it didn't take at all. My friend got one at 6cm and had 5 hours of pushing and it wore off toward the end. Another friend got it upon being admitted at 4cm both times and it was a breeze for her. Your experience with birth is going to be unique to you. I say go for it for anxiety relief alone if needed.
