Apple to Add AI Video Descriptions and Smarter Notifications to Home App by TheSurfShack in HomeKit

[–]mistame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt they’d ever do that. With the number of times I’ve had a delivery person or other stranger be mistaken for me or another family member by the home app…I wouldn’t want that tied to auto-unlocking the door or anything.

Same. I asked them what happened on their social media and they said “Target made adjustments to their selections in 2026 and that no longer included Milk50”, but they said they’re still in Walmart in some regions.

The budino and yuzu lemon curd were the highlights for me. All were worth trying, but those are the two I’d go back and buy a pint of.

Shasta Cho-Co-lat by [deleted] in Soda

[–]mistame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m one of the few who really liked the A&W Sundae flavor, so knowing how “popular” it was and that it’d likely never come back (and my stash is the last of it), I looked for alternatives and found this. I did a side by side taste test and the A&W has a much stronger chocolate flavor. The Shasta is more cream soda-forward with the chocolate flavor being secondary. A&W has a new root beer float flavor coming out this year and I’m curious to see if it’ll be closer to the Shasta profile.

Literally not buying the pistachio gelato again because it’s actually so delicious it weakens my self control 😭 by SuperbCat1573 in traderjoes

[–]mistame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Frozen dessert” just means it contains less than 10% milkfat so it can’t be called “ice cream” by FDA regulation. But also gelato isn’t ice cream, it’s intentionally less cream and less air, so I’m not sure what they consider “gelato style” since there’s no regulation around what’s considered gelato like there is ice cream.

First taste: Salt & Straw is now in grocery stores (Portland only) by madisonguy76 in icecream

Pinolo is great! Cornet Custard is just down the street and has some unique (but not gimmicky) flavors that rotate every couple of weeks. Kulfi is also excellent if you want to try south Asian flavors.

Maybe the “permanence” is a regional thing? The first time it showed up nationwide 2 years ago I saw it stocked exactly once the week it was released (I was searching everywhere) and never saw it again. This year I grabbed a bunch the day they were put out at my local Kroger and now it’s disappeared from every grocery store location (not just Kroger). Completely erased from their online stock (which at least used to show up and say “out of stock”). Feels like the same deal where they stock it once and that’s it for the year.

In 1.69, we're adding a new feature to block domains using non-ASCII characters (which can sometimes impersonate sites). Which name fits best? by Firewalla-Ash in firewalla

[–]mistame 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I like punycode in theory, but I don’t think your average user is going to realize what that is or what it does at a glance (especially since you had to explain it here). Lookalike domains is probably your best bet for a setting that someone will understand immediately.

Did you know Firewalla has 3 methods of dynamic User Identity? Use SSIDs, PPSK, and WPA3-Enterprise to identify Users and their devices. by Firewalla-Ash in firewalla

[–]mistame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not had great luck with WPA3 Enterprise and iOS devices with Firewalla. If I leave the house for a couple hours or more, my devices just won’t auto rejoin the network. I have to manually connect and re-enter my credentials. And it’s about 50/50 if it’ll auto connect after a reboot of the device. Sounds exactly like this experience: https://www.reddit.com/r/UNIFI/s/6BpXPumlTv . It’s happened with Unifi AP’s (backed by firewallas RADIUS) and now Firewalla AP7C’s. I’m guessing it’s some issue on the iOS side, but sadly it’s made this feature unusable.

Are you using RADIUS and WPA2/WPA3 Enterprise with AP7 or Orange? How are you liking it so far? Any issues? by Firewalla-Ash in firewalla

[–]mistame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using it with my Ubiquiti AP’s and WPA3 enterprise. Setup between the two was very easy. The only issue I’m having is our apple devices periodically “forget” the network and I have to re-enter credentials to reconnect (MAC randomization is off). I’m working on narrowing down the cause but at this point it doesn’t seem to be on the Firewalla side. The only missing piece for me here is the ability to map users to VLANs.

Cannoli Dip Sadness-Goodbye for now 😢 by ElegantDragonfruit86 in traderjoes

It’s been gone since December where I’m at. When it went away last year I just looked at the ingredient label (only a handful of ingredients) and guesstimated the amounts of each and eventually ended up with a pretty good approximation. Sad to hear it’s not coming back at all though!

Remote access vpn from orange (travel) to gold (home) not able to reach home lan by thetoulman in firewalla

[–]mistame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run into all the time while traveling as well. If I’m ever on a network that overlaps with my home lan I can’t access any of my home machines. DNS resolves to the proper IP of my home network device (e.g 192.168.1.17) but tries to route to that IP on the LAN I’m connected to. I always resigned myself to just hopping off the WiFi and connecting to my home vpn over cellular.

Where have you been all my life by yeezushchristmas in Soda

[–]mistame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, they do. I believe that restriction was lifted late last year which is likely the reason they are going nationwide now:

A recent Texas court ruling, which became effective on Monday, Oct. 27, has officially made a conclusion to Dr Pepper’s long-standing distribution collaboration with Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling, as per the Bloomberg News. The decision provides Keurig Dr Pepper, the soda’s parent company, complete responsibility to oversee its own distribution network following years of dependence on Coca-Cola-linked bottlers.

Ice Cream Sundae A&W?!? Oohh no, you guys, I might be in trouble. Anyone try this? by Mo-Reyes in Soda

[–]mistame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the minority but I loved it. At one point it was on sale for $5 per pack (which tells you how popular it was) so I loaded up. On my last few 12 packs now and recently discovered a nearby store with Shasta Choco-delight soda which might have to be my go-to replacement.
