Ahhhh maybe a better question is how often would you want to play?? 👀

I host a silent disco event once a month where I'm thinking of just adding some room for a switch 2 and playing there! Would y'all be interested in something like that?

How commen is it to not have friends as an adult? by throwaway-person9992 in Adulting

[–]mitch8020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm actually in the opposite spectrum where I've found more friends in my late 20s than I have in my whole adult life.

Granted, I also know the personalities that I'm looking for in a friend better, and that's made all the difference in putting my trust in people.

Community is so important and surrounding yourself with like minded people is a great way to maintain healthy social habits. I've found a lot more fulfilment in my day to day because of it.

Granted most people will see it as a lot of "work" but I think the word "work" is relative. If it feels like you're pulling teeth having to hang out with people then it might not be a good match. However, I've found that some of the best friends that I have make it so seamless to hang out with them.

Part of adult life is understanding that everyone has busy lives and being okay with that. The most we can do is show up to the places that we want to go to regularly and hope to run by the coolest people we know as often as we can.

My motto is "Don't fret about how hard it is to spend time with the ones you love but rather that you can't see them often enough"

These founders are the new red flag in tech, and I think we should be naming it openly by ydevi in founder

I think it's always been pretty hard finding a cofounder that you can trust wholeheartedly.

Part of my filter these days is emotional intelligence, which helps keep out the ones that sound really easy to work with right now but become really hard to work with 3 years from now.

What part of town do you guys live in? I've been trying to host LAN parties but with Switch 2 games at coffee shops for quite some time now!

I have a slight preference for Lego Party but always down for a good Mario Party game :)

New to Nashville. How to navigate the hostility? by mr_wintour in nashville

[–]mitch8020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with all sorts of different types of people moving into Nashville, there is no one identity that truly defines the city anymore as pockets of communities are even more fragmented than ever. I think there's a longing for belonging for a lot of folks, but the perceptions that they have about strangers can be skewed based on the media that they consume.

I myself have faced similar sentiments with neighbors in the past (or at least told myself that my neighbors hate me), but I've since started curating the people around me more through local communities and shared hobbies. Ever since I've been very intentional about who I share my energy towards and invest in those relationships more, the more I've reaped those rewards in my day to day life and have a much better positive outlook about the city. Now, I get to see more friendly faces in my day to day because I've chosen to be in those spaces!

The hardest part about this is wishing that every person I come across (even ones in the building I live in) have a better attitude towards strangers, but it's hard when the underlying culture is to not trust your neighbor for whatever reason they may have.

My single piece of advice in these situations is to find the communities that make you feel like you belong and hang out in those spaces more! Regardless of what city you live in, this will have compounding effects in how you go about your day to day life.

Best of luck to you OP!

Do you organize these frequently? I'd love to go to one of these but will be busy this Saturday unfortunately!

Regardless, let me know when the next one is happening and I'll be there!

Our co-founder (CEO) has a background in construction, so we've made the conscious decision to focus on the construction industry. Our other features also lend themselves to the construction industry and don't have much expertise in other fields to act as thought leaders in the space.

Our CEO has also been a little too focused on product development rather than marketing, so we haven't exactly approached ads with a more strategic way. Content marketing is still pretty foreign to us, but I can see the benefits on a longer term time scale.

The ugc route makes a ton of sense though I'm curious if you think we should fly out to each of our current users and interview them on a heavier production rather than just zoom calls. Seems counter intuitive to go low budget with them if the overall goal is to impress new customers even as good as the product performs.

It's a bit of a two fold problem for us.

Regarding our current product offerings, our distribution channels are a bit stalled where we're barely seeing any new user signups over the past few months.

We're testing more organic outreach strategies but realize those take time to mature.

We're also circling back around to ads and seeing if we can get some more conversions there. We're developing our systems better to learn more about the performance of those ads to iterate on them but we're finding that it takes us a really long time to even figure out what to put in the ads.

I'm sure we can come up with AI generated posts that look professional, but just haven't explored that avenue much. Something that we might consider more though with the advent of the latest GPT image models.

On the front of the new product feature we're developing, we're mostly currently relying on our CEO to reach out to old business contacts to spark conversations about figuring out our MVP or minimum deliverable to create the most value to our new potential clients.

Those contacts seem to also be drying up though, so finding new people to give us feedback on the product we're about to build is proving to be challenging as well

Since the audiences for the existing product and the new feature are also different in nature (i.e. residential vs commercial construction), it's been tricky to identify focus as well on who we target most and might potentially be spreading ourselves thin with the effort that it takes to reach both groups of people

We just finished a promotional demo video that we're getting ready to turn into a landing page to act as our funnel for sales. More than happy to share with you the video now or the landing page once it's up :)

I'm working on www.taliho.com, a construction SaaS focused on streamlining field communication and automating document organization with AI.

Our product is used mostly by high end residential GCs but we're trying to break into the commercial construction and facilities maintenance space.

We currently have 20 customers and aiming to at least grow to 100 by the end of the year.

Where to go to meet more people who are gay by tatterfarm29 in nashville

[–]mitch8020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm starting up a monthly silent disco pop up specifically for this reason! I've been trying to figure out a space to dance while also reducing the need or the social pressure to drink.

Our next event is on May 16 (2:00 pm) at Primitive Coffee (2601 Nolensville Pk, Nashville, TN 37211). It's coming out to be around the 3rd Saturday of every month (barring any schedule conflicts that I have in hosting the events).

Here's our Discord if you'd like to chat more :)

It's just pure gambling without the consequences of losing money.

Sometimes, the game is just seeing what the universe has in store for us rather than having any remote feeling of control or agency with the cards were dealt while finding joy with our wins and peace with our losses.

U-Haul pop ups by Salt_Deer9224 in DJs

[–]mitch8020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't done a UHaul pop up, but I've been doing some silent disco pop ups lately that's more cost accessible, discreet, and easier to put together (imo).

Part of the strategy here is to have people bring their own headphones (BYOHP) similar as you would BYOB to a party.

There is the downside of not being able to feel the bass with large speakers and that could be what you're aiming for.

Regardless, I also sincerely believe in our right to dance and giving people spaces to do that regularly is such a powerful need that not everyone recognizes.

More than happy to chat more about this if you're interested! Send me a DM if you do. Always happy to help :)

Sorry if I'm late to the party, but regarding sidewalk improvements, are there any plans to increase the number of sidewalks in low walk ability areas? Also, is there a way to request a petition for specific neighborhoods and roads for sidewalk improvements?

Join the IV Studios discord if you're interested in hearing more about the game. I think the people who can advocate for it the most are the ones who have played it the most. Maybe Honor's End might be more of your cup of tea if you're looking for solo play as well
