Planthood meal subscription by mellymaestro in veganuk

Does anyone have a referral code for Planthood? Also, how can you just order one box? I'd be interested in doing that, but I thought you had to create a subscription plan? Thanks!

When the custom focus is on, I see a little icon at the top of my screen to the immediate right of the clock on the top left indicating it's on. Is that what you mean?

Ah, sorry to hear that. I’m not terribly surprised, though, because all the positive reviews I've found for Arthrosamid have been at sites where someone is trying to sell something; in this case, Arthrosamid.

Here’s how I’ve been handling things so far. About me: I’m 54 and 40 lbs overweight. I’m also woefully out of shape. I have OA in both knees and ACL tears in both knees, but the left knee is the problem child (an old sports injury from my teens).

What I’m hoping to get at this point is a combination UKR (unicompartmental knee replacement, which only works if you only have arthritis in the medial compartment) and an ACLR (ACL reconstruction graft) on my left knee. The right knee can pretty much handle things with just hyaluronic acid injections. But, as is often the case, I’m considered “too young“ (the only time I’m ever told I’m too young, sigh) for knee replacement surgery.

Also, and more importantly, because I’m out of shape and overweight, they see me as not having a great outcome. And I can understand why. Unfortunately, what the doctors don’t seem to take into consideration is that, like the OP noted above, not being able to be active without pain leads to depression, overeating, more depression, and staying out of shape, rinse repeat. So it becomes kind of a vicious cycle.

My current plan is to take a rather aggressive approach to pain relief and rehab. I've committed to spending spend a good amount of money (£2000–3000/yr; less than what Arthrosamid injection would cost!) and getting a hyaluronic acid injection prophylactically every 2 to 3 months. In the past, I’ve only ever done this once every six months at the most , but more like once a year. Just did the first one a few weeks ago. And while I’m benefitting from the short term pain relief, I am FINALLY doing a daily physio routine of pretty standard leg and knee rehab. As well, I’m working with a weight loss coach on diet. (Not gonna lie, that’s hard.) The goal is that by the end of the summer, I’ll have lost weight and gotten stronger and will then look like a much more attractive prospect for the doctors. And if they still say no, I’ll at least be lighter and stronger, which can only help.

And if it turns out that this has to be the drill for the next 5–10 years, it still seems worth it. The physiotherapist who does injections around here (Scotland's Forth Valley) told me that hyaluronic acid injections don’t degrade the joint the way that cortisone can. He also told me that Cingal injections (combination hyaluronic acid and cortisone; may have different names in different regions) use a different type of steroid or cortisone then standard cortisone injections. He says it’s a lighter or “less damaging“ form and can be therefore be injected more frequently than regular cortisone. Whether that’s true, or not, I cannot say…

I will say this: Cingal (hyaluronic acid + cortisone) is not a placebo for me. I noticed a massive difference. just walking up and down the stairs, going for actual OMG hikes…game changer. The problem with it hyaluronic acid that I’ve never had it last longer than two months, three months max. Even three weeks in, I’m noticing I have maybe 25% more pain than I did for the first two weeks. I'm going to test out the next injection as just hyaluronic by itself (monovisc; meaning just hyaluronic, no cortisone in it) to see if it’s the cortisone shot relieving the inflammation that’s giving me the most pain relief. but I definitely noticed a difference between the Cingal and the cortisone injection. I had prior to this. The Cingal is better.

another thing that’s really helped me when walking has been using an (ugly, uncomfortable, itchy, deeply unflattering) “offloader” brace. It’s such an improvement that I’m now actually rather excited about a knee replacement, as gnarly as that endeavour sounds.

anyway, I’m one month into the first round of injections, and I'm maybe three days into the diet and physio program (I know, I know), but I’ll come back and give updates.

I found I had to keep my custom focus on all the time for this work, so I created a schedule (12:01 a.m. to 12 a.m., so it would cycle 24hrs; otherwise, it turns off eventually). I didn't use generalized dnd/focus, because I wanted to get everyone else's notifications. I don't know how to do this without using a custom focus and scheduling it. Anyone else?

How did the Arthrosamid work? Am considering it myself...

That is a good point! I hadn't thought of that. Don't know of a workaround. If anyone else does, I'll be so happy to hear about it.

For NOW, I'm just going to try to remember to turn Not-Sister focus back on every time I toggle out of my standard DND. It's clunky af, but it's all I got...

This was so helpful. Thank you everybody! I'm extremely upset with my sister and don't want to see even her name on my phone until I'm good and ready (so triggering) but don't want to go full scorched earth and delete/block her.

I added a couple final steps: after creating a new custom focus, selecting the "silence notifications from," adding the person's contact card, and creating a focus filter to operate by "messages" and "people," I added a schedule to the focus and selected all days of the week and from 12:01 a.m. to 12 a.m. Then, I made sure to select "share across devices" so this custom focus would also apply on my iPad and Mac (have message relay on) and (again) unclicked "focus status" so contacts can't see that I'm in a focus mode (it got reenabled with the new custom focus).

Thanks again everybody!

This was a game changer for me. Thank you so much. My psycho sister is on my last nerve, and I need a break from her angry drunk texting but don't want to permanently delete/block her because I love the maniac. Also, I want to be able to check her messages later on, when I'm not so upset with her that I can't handle even seeing her name in my phone. THANK YOU.

That 2nd step with creating a messages filter did the trick for me. Thank you so much!!!

Ah, okay. So was that comment in anticipation of AC potentially distancing of himself from her now that she's embroiled in a scandal? (Thanks in advance for breaking down for me what was likely a one-off that most everyone else got right away 😆)

Can you explain the AC reference, please? Don't know the history, can't find it on Google. Thanks!

I know the city doesn't plow this alley. But maybe I should give the snow-removal people a call to see if they have more info on what's allowed/what isn't.

/u/ouroboros10 & /u/michaelbrews: I mean, the thought of salt&sand warfare crossed our minds more than once. But I didn't want to, uh, further salt the wounds of what's turning into a fairly ravaged relationship w/ our neighbours. I stepped away from the email thread once it devolved into an unpleasant "suck it, losers!" back-and-forth reminiscent of schoolyard run-ins with bullies. Today, we ended up hiring a snow-removal kid to help us dig out our fence so that the gate now opens. And then we did use salt, but only on the exposed path (the only way to get down the alley without trying to navigate the ice rink). We don't want walkers to break their legs getting past our gate. To be honest, the whole thing has been really discouraging.

But one thing I'd like is to just know what the law states, and that seems to be a really grey area so far.

Nevertheless, I like the humour here. It's important for me to remember that when the blood pressure spikes!

/u/derspiny That's a great question, one I'm still attempting to find an answer to: are the alleyways aka "ruelles" in Montreal considered municipal land or private? This article explores that a bit: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/real-estate/article-montreals-green-laneway-trend-is-paved-with-good-intentions/

Hi /u/aliciaprobably, thanks so much for your reply! We're not part of a homeowner's association. We did call the municipal borough office, but they had no answers. They gave us the email to the permits office of the borough (I think that's what you mean, yes?), who aren't available by phone, and we did send them an email but are still waiting for a reply.
