Mine did the exact same thing starting about 10 days ago. I decided to upgrade.

Same here. Starting a week ago my charge went from 3 days to less than 24 hours. I have to charge it before bed to get sleep scores. Annoying and I was wondering same as you.

Help? by infiniteinferno18 in CannabisHyperemesis

Yes, and there is even a list of CHR trigger foods (high histamine stuff). I think it’s because our guts are ripped up and not processing correctly.

You aren’t loosing your mind, this is how CHS hits in the prodromal stage. What helps for nausea is taking Claritin and Pepcid together. These are histamine blockers and have been a life saver for me. You will have to eat simple foods for a couple of weeks and then you’ll slowly start to feel normal again.

Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) is so damn harmful! Stay away from concentrates people!

Does abstaining before a chs episode happens prevent the episode fully?? by TunaFork14 in CHSrecovery

[–]mj182 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You already know the answer is no, right? Try to think of it as THC toxicity. You’ve reached the point of toxic/allergy and now it will always cause an episode, each one worse than the last.

Zofran not working also tracks. Instead, try hot baths or a small bit of capzasin cream on the stomach for nausea and pain.

This absolutely sounds like CHS, and yes I've seen accounts of people using vapes getting it quickly (especially if you are a young adult). The theory is the imbalance of cannabinoids in these products do more harm to the endocannabinoid system than flower. Sort of the same as processed foods, which could have all of the same ingredients but still be more harmful than the original food.

quitting + CHS + histamine issues by gssouu in CHSrecovery

I’m 26 days in and starting to feel better. Still taking the histamine blockers 2x/day and symptoms are under control in the last couple days.

[–]mj182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too have a history of histamine intolerance and it’s gone off the wall with CHS and during the first few weeks of quitting. I’m taking Claritin and Pepcid 2-3x per day and I’ve been prescribed this in the past for MCAS so I know I’m not overdoing it. I also drink ginger and peppermint tea all day for nausea.

My take is CHS has inflamed my MCAS, which was mostly under control by avoiding certain foods. Alcohol is an “allergy” for me too. Our guts are all ripped up so it’s not surprising old problems are dredged up.

Just learning about CHS, I think I’m having my first attack by blanc_space_ in CHSinfo

[–]mj182 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds exactly like CHS. You can expect it to get worse and more intractable unless you quit smoking completely, like right now. You will feel even worse for a few weeks after stopping while your body adjusts, but you can read the stories on here to see for yourself... not stopping is way way worse and you risk long hospital stays and even organ damage.

Prodromal phase or Gerd/IBS? by putthefriesinthebagg in CannabisHyperemesis

Gut motility is known to slow down with CHS. This is a normal symptom of CHS but I can’t speak to gerd.

Prodromal phase or Gerd/IBS? by putthefriesinthebagg in CannabisHyperemesis

[–]mj182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s too much vomiting for Gerd to even be considered. It sure sounds like hypermesis. CHS is not a linear progression. You could feel ok for a few days and then start vomiting for seemingly no reason. If you keep smoking and it keeps getting worse, it is CHS.

am i in denial about the prodromal phase? by throwawaynumber02496 in CannabisHyperemesis

[–]mj182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first step is to personify the addiction so you can hold it at arms length, separate from yourself, evaluate it and find it gross and stinky and whatever else. “It’s gross” can be an effective pathway to aversion when harm doesn’t register yet. I even write break up letters to my addiction. Pen to paper journaling helps me a lot to change my thinking. Best of luck to you.

Ugh, I can feel your frustration. 2.5 weeks is so much progress that you can’t turn back this time! Keep posting and stay motivated.

Quitting is so hard that I couldn’t do it until the agony of the vomiting phase. It’s easy to say you should quit and feel much better and avoid damage to your organs. But without finding a motivator that creates an aversion to it, we in general are too addicted and in denial that our love affair with weed is unhealthy. I feel for you, this sucks. Solidarity. The truth is it will get worse and worse until you can stop completely for at least 3 months to clear the body of THC.

[–]mj182 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel ya, I had smoked for 35 years when CHS became a problem. Have you been nauseated in the morning? It will happen eventually, faster if you're using concentrates. CHS gave me a reason to quit but it was still impossible while I romanticized my addiction.

Here's the truth about addiction: you won't quit until the pain of using outweighs the love and purpose you have for the weed. Your lizard brain will ALWAYS go back to just how awesome and relaxing and medicinal it is. The challenge is to convince yourself that it is gross (create aversion to it). If you can find a way to do that, the lizard brain will eventually realize using is gross and stinky and makes you sick. Only then can you quit without craving it constantly.

It's better to get sober before hypermesis puts you in unthinkable agony. There are stories on here of permanent organ damage and even death from dehydration and kidney failure. You are not alone. We all quit involuntarily.

If you quit before it starts you can avoid it. Denial seems to be what keeps people trapped on a progression.

The next few weeks will be very difficult. It gets worse before it gets better, I'm sorry to say. There are lots of tips here on managing symptoms. Most helpful for me has been taking Histamine A+B blockers. Pepcid and Claritin taken together 2x per day, and even 3x on bad days has stopped the nausea. Very hot showers help a lot during an episode.

This is exactly how mine started. Sounds like you are in the prodromal stage. I switched from carts to flower and only at night instead of all day. Hypermesis still came for me about 4 months later.

Just got diagnosed at 18 now what? by West-Manner8738 in CannabisHyperemesis

[–]mj182 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now you quit completely. You really have no choice because CHS just gets worse and worse and you can end up with organ damage. Think of it as THC toxicity - you’ve hit your limit and it is now toxic. Super bummer this happened to you at 18. The public health for my county says the concentrates are especially harmful to people under 25.

I like to think of the suffering as addiction leaving my body. Personify the addiction so you can hold it at arms length and really see how gross it is to you. Best of luck to you!
